Controlling Their Destiny

San Francisco improves to 4-1 in the Division and 7-2 in the Conference. They host the 6-5 Panthers on Monday Night Football next week, who find themselves in the playoff hunt. Then at Cleveland in likely inclement weather, against a Schwartz defense with Myles Garrett. Finally a bye followed by hosting the Titans. They need to be 10-4 going into their final 3 game stretch against the playoff  bound Bears, Colts and Seahawks to keep control of their destiny. Can they do it?

Game Day Week 11: 49ers vs. Cardinals

An army without leaders is like a foot without a big toe but this week, Brock is ready to go. Purdy, CMC, Kittle and Pearsall will all be on the field at the same time for the first time since their season opening drive against the Seahawks where they went through their defense like a hot knife through butter.

Defensively ever since Warner went down for the season with an ankle injury the 49ers defense ranks 30th in success rate, 28th in points per drive and 27th in EPA per drive. Saleh needs to coach 'em up and scheme 'em up. Arizona’s Jacoby Brissett has been under pressure at the highest rate of any QB this season (47.8%), and hopefully they can take advantage of that and perhaps build off any success they have today moving forward. I got the 49ers winning this game 30-17.

Niners Got Problems

But #10 isn't one of them. He's shown he's a starting quarterback in the league. Will his agent allow him to play for $4M next year? Should the 49ers trade him if a team is willing to give up a 2nd round pick? Looking at Purdy's contract there is an out in year 3. If it were me I would not trade Jones for anything less than a 1st round pick.

Game Day Week 10: Rams vs. 49ers

Rivalry week is upon us and the upstart "Big Brother" Rams come into Levi's Staduim looking for revenge against their "Little Brother" for their Week 5 meltdown at SoFi. The Rams come into this game with advantages on both sides of the ball but not on Special Teams, where the 49ers rank near the top, while the Rams rank near the bottom. McVay has swapped out his kicker and long snapper this week in an attempt to shore it up. The 49ers special teams has contributed to wins for the 49ers and they just might do it again in this game with the emergence of  BRob at kick returner last week.

Offensively the 49ers cannot afford to get into a shootout. They need their offensive line to set the tone early on the ground and dominate the time of possession. Pair that with an explosive play or two and they'll give themselves a chance. Look for Kittle to be heavily involved downfield in that endeavor.

Defensively the game within the game will come down to how much Bethune has learned since replacing Fred Warner. Will Stafford abuse him or can he up his game in coverage, because he's been a tackling machine against the run. Their defensive line could see a new face this week as the "Hulk" will see his first activation this year in an attempt to bolster the depth with week 5's hero, Alfred Collins' availability in question. I've got the Rams winning this game 27-20 but I hope like hell I'm wrong. Go Niners!

Breaking News

Rooke DL Mykel Williams is OUT FOR THE SEASON with a torn ACL. Should Lynch make a trade and what should he offer? I would not offer anything more than a 3rd for a 1 year rental. I think I might just ride the horse I got and see how far it takes me.

Game Day Week 9: 49ers vs. Giants

The New York Giants' run defense is ranked 30th in the NFL, allowing an average of 148.9 rushing yards per game. Dart is 2-0 at home and has been very effective in the 1st quarter and has yet to turn the ball over. The 49ers have only one interception through Week 8 and only seven takeaways in total on the season. Their pass rush has been MIA, with a low-volume 3.32 percent sack rate, as they’ve allowed 229.3 passing yards per contest and a 67.41 percent completion rate to opposing quarterbacks. Dart will challenge this secondary with his off schedule ability and rushing capability. I expect we'll see a similar game plan to the one against Atlanta from Shanahan feeding CMC. If they can have success doing that and avoid turning the ball over, mixed with an explosive play or two I think they win this game 20-17. Go Niners!
