Game Day Week 9: 49ers vs. Giants
The New York Giants' run defense is ranked 30th in the NFL, allowing an average of 148.9 rushing yards per game. Dart is 2-0 at home and has been very effective in the 1st quarter and has yet to turn the ball over. The 49ers have only one interception through Week 8 and only seven takeaways in total on the season. Their pass rush has been MIA, with a low-volume 3.32 percent sack rate, as they’ve allowed 229.3 passing yards per contest and a 67.41 percent completion rate to opposing quarterbacks. Dart will challenge this secondary with his off schedule ability and rushing capability. I expect we'll see a similar game plan to the one against Atlanta from Shanahan feeding CMC. If they can have success doing that and avoid turning the ball over, mixed with an explosive play or two I think they win this game 20-17. Go Niners!

I feel good about this game....here is why:
ReplyDelete1) Shanahan lost the coach of the year to Daboll in 2022. He doesn't forget those kinds of things.
2) The Run D for the giants is abysmal. If we don't get the run game going today, we never will.
3) Mac and Kittle have been like Chalk and Cheese....but with practicing 2 weeks together, I think they will become more like Mac N Cheese.
4) I'm looking for JJ to play a statement game before the trade deadline.
5) Finally, we gain an hour due to Daylight Savings.. Should help the D.
Only things I'm afraid of is the turf, but we should win this game 24-17.
I like it!
DeleteVery looking forward to seeing White play for us.

DeleteThe 9ers O-line will, IMO, be the determining factor in the game today...1) They have to open running lanes for CMC 2) Protect 9er QB (Mac) from the Giants elite pass rush duo of Brian Burns and Kayvon Thibodeaux.
The match up between TW and Brian Burns today may be the difference between a win or loss. If MJ has to dodge the Giants pass-rush when passing, it could get sticky in the pocket given that Mac can't avoid the hits like Purdy can.
ReplyDeleteThis game may have ramifications on another level. Because if TW has trouble, the 49ers may not have a choice but to pick an OLman in the 1st rd next April.
I like Georgia Tech's iOL G Keylan Rutledge.
DeleteI'd be very surprised if they burn a 1st on OL.
If Caleb Lomu is on the board when the 49ers pick in the 1st rd, he'd be my pick. This kid is a rock.
DeleteAES
DeleteNot just LB Brian Burns, but Kayvon Thibodeaux and rookie Abdul Carter.
Burford's gonna start at LG isn't he guys?
ReplyDeleteIf they can find great OL value from the 2nd rd to day 3 I'd be very happy. But, most of the blue chip OLmen will be in the 1st. Sure, there's always a gamble drafting in the 1st rd. But I believe that there is a definite need at this position especially if TW (the 49ers best OLman) has lost a step.
ReplyDeleteTop 15 is the only place you'll find a blue chip OL and likely where Lomu goes.
ReplyDeleteBurford warming up with the one's at LG.😁
ReplyDeleteI agree, Razor. But Trader John has been known to get the guy he wants.
ReplyDeleteGeez defense can't get off the field yet again.
ReplyDeleted line looks terrible.
ReplyDeleteTackling fuel out there!
ReplyDeleteFerrell already paying dividends.
ReplyDeletePiñeiro has to one of the top Niners acquisitions in the past few months.
ReplyDeleteAgreed.
DeleteKyle just can't help himself, he has to get TOO CUTE when it's entirely unnecessary, and it's going to end up costing him more close games!
ReplyDeleteWhat does too cute mean in football languages?
DeleteAgreed.
DeleteThese Refs are horrible. I want full time officials
ReplyDeleteNever liked this head official.
ReplyDeleteGlad to see Kyle stop playing with his food and go back to the run game.
ReplyDeleteWe got this!
I’m surprised the Giants didn’t run the ball more in the first half, especially considering how well they ran it early. Our run D is highly suspect.
ReplyDeleteRobinson should play the rest of the quarter
ReplyDeleteNot this F*****G turf again
ReplyDeleteKyle (& Saleh just did it AGAIN! Mykel Williams suffers major knee injury in the final 4 minutes of a game that's already decided! This has become personnel injury MALPRACTICE and frankly, somebodies head needs to fricken ROLL!
ReplyDeleteWhat major injury was that? Reasons is that you?
DeleteSo you’re saying that everyone should be a sub now?
DeleteNothing upstairs but hatred.
DeleteHahahaha! You're a funny guy. Why don't they just put 3 string and PS on the field after the 1st Qtr? Oh wait, key players get injured in the 1st Qtr too. My bad, Greenlaw got hurt just running on to field. I guess there's no choice but to forfeit the games.
ReplyDeleteIf Williams' injury is a serious one, that's a really cruel blow. Already so depleted, and he's been really important in stopping the run this year. I guess the upside is they already added White and Ferrell to help take up some of that slack.
ReplyDeleteA great team victory this one. Yes, it's only the Giants, but after last week they needed to rebound in all phases and did just that. Complete team win. Played with a lot of energy and good execution. Mac Jones and Eddy P continue to be incredible value pick ups for the team this year.
ReplyDeleteMac played bloodied and with a sore knee. This guy has been a super hero.
ReplyDeleteThe D played better than the score indicates. They were porous on the 1st drive but gave up nothing the rest of the half. The last 2 scores were all about bend don't break. They weren't playing the same schemes they were earlier in the game
