    1. Sadly, 49ers REALLY could use a Walter Nolen right now.....he seemed explosive.

  3. This chart validates my earlier opinion from a few weeks that the 49ers are not a SB team. Would I love to see them bring win a SB on their own field? YES! But the current major injuries on defense is a monumental ask. Obviously, a lot can happen between now and the playoffs, but one thing that is not going to happen is getting Bosa, Warner, and Mykel back for the post season.

    1. Agree. If they make the playoffs, I think that would be a huge accomplishment given the injuries. Hopefully a lot of young guys get some playing time the rest of the year.

    2. Well, I didn't think they were a SB team this year even with those guys, so definitely don't think they are without them. This year to me was always about letting the young guys develop for next year and beyond.

But I do think they can (and will) make the playoffs.

    3. The Rams are 0-3 against the 49ers when both Brock Purdy and Christian McCaffrey are playing.

  4. Yes, I made reference to this before the season started. This team is building for a serious SB run in 2026.

  5. The defense will get a little better with the offense just controlling the ball more.

  6. 2025 Texans defense: -0.124 EPA/play
    2019 49ers defense: -0.124 EPA/play

  7. Texans defense is where I see the 49ers D in a couple of years. Just a few more pieces needed on the 49ers D to make them roll through opposing teams. LB, Safety, Edge, CB. Focus on LB and Safety next year. Bosa and Mykle will greatly help the edges when they come back, so there's no emergency at those positions right away. Warner will be back, but the current LBs have not made major contributions with the exception being Bethune. Safety has been dicey at best this year. Maybe you guys see it differently?

    1. I actually think the secondary is fine (not great, but good enough) so long as the front 7 is causing teams problems. I think the greatest need is for more pass rushers. Edge and interior.

    2. Agreed- I think the DL is "fine" but the issue is w NOBODY getting to the QB, they get picked apart- sadly, there's a reason all of those guys were available........

  8. The greatest need in the secondary is a playmaker. An instinctual safety that consistently makes plays on the football resulting in turnovers.

  9. Reports of Aiyuk’s tenure with the 49ers is about over. Good riddance to a guy who apparently is mostly about himself. He got what he really wanted which was the contract. I feel sorry for the team that he goes to.

    1. There’s almost nothing worse than a prima donna wide receiver.
