  1. Osa missed ONE tackle last season on almost 700 snaps. Maybe that rubs off on everyone else.

  2. Over the last eight seasons, only Tyreek Hill has more receptions and receiving yards on targets of 20+ yards downfield than Mike Evans.

In Brock Purdy's four seasons, he has completed 53.2% of his 20+ yard targets, second best in the NFL.

    1. Yep, this is what I was telling GEEP when he said Evans wasn't a vertical threat. He isn't a burner, never has been, but he's good at stacking a DB and then using his overwhelming size to be open downfield. He's the guy that's consistently drawn double teams and opened everything up for the Bucs other receivers for years.

With all due respect, what I said was Evans is not a burner! His 40 times when he was drafted were ~4.55s and now, likely at ~4.65s. That he was a red zone threat and at this point in his career, a premier contested-catch receiver, IE at 6'5" x 230 and long arms he'll go up and get the ball over DB hanging on.

  4. Do we have a confirmed cap for the 49ers this year, including roll over and cap credits?

    2. They gonna draft his replacement at 27 or use a 4th to move up for "their" guy?

      Delete
    3. Well, we know they typically draft for need early. And the way the roster currently looks... I'd say that a pass rushing edge is now their biggest immediate hole.

      But still time in FA.

  8. Good to have Dre back. I know Fred would agree as well. Not so sure how you guys feel, but I don't view him as a starter anymore.

    1. He had his best year yet as a tackler, but I hope the contract is incentive laden. I'll look at it like anything we get from him will be a bonus.

    2. If healthy, he's the starter next to Fred.

I suspect they'll try to move Dee Winters for a day 3 pick.

  11. Now sign Jordan or J. Bosa, Draft edge in the 1st round, IOL in the 2nd and 2 WRs in the 4th. If they can accomplish that I would consider it an A- off season (as long as they get TWs contract done)

    1. Coach, my guess is they will be after edge guys that are a bit smaller and bring a speed rush element.

    2. Speed baby and ability to drop and cover in space would be ideal.

    3. I really think Ebiketie will be the next signing.

    4. Scooter,
Would Ebiketie improve the 9ers pass rush that much?

      Delete
    5. No, he's a guy you prefer to be part of a rotation. Would still want to draft someone high.

I just don't see them adding another big DE with Mykel and White already there. When pass rushing you need to be able to attack 3 depths in combo - 3 step, 5 step and 7 step - to prevent the QB being able to avoid pressure by moving within the pocket. At the moment they really only have Bosa that can attack the 7 step drops.

  12. Sources: DT Caleb Banks suffered a broken foot at the Combine that will sideline him until June.

The injury happened the night before his on-field testing. He performed a partial workout not knowing the extent of the injury. The fracture of the fourth metatarsal was surgically repaired by Dr. Norman Waldrop on March 9.

He was a boom or bust player like Kinlaw. I had questions about his feet. Big men with bad feet are no bueno and off my board.

    1. Given he missed last season with a foot issue, doesn't bode well for his long term availability.

  13. Arnold Ebiketie a likely target now.

  14. The 49ers are among teams to have a visit schedule with Texas Tech EDGE Romello Height, per Ryan Fowler:

Height is 6’3, 230lbs and 25-years-old. He’s a pass rushing specialist that totaled a 17.5% pass-rush win rate the last two seasons.

Cassius Howell fits that type like a glove. Just not sure he makes it to 27.
