One thing this post shows is how truly terrible the 49ers interior O line was last year.
ReplyDeleteEvery phase of the team needs to be strong. From ownership down to the coaches and players. The best example to us decades old 49ers Faithful is the 80's teams.
ReplyDeleteWith the return of our healthy stars and the improvement of the young players, hopefully the 49ers will strengthen all phases of the team rather than a few players.
I think Evans will open up the middle of the field giving CMC more room to run, along with room for Kittle and Deebo to operate.

DeleteBoth Evans and Stribling should keep opposing DB's from crowing the LOS and open up the middle of the field.
Absolutely agree. Evans may turn out to be our best FA signing in the Lynch, Shanahan era since Juice. With our injured stars coming back and "hungry" to get back on the field. The improvement must take place on the young Interior dline as Coach noted. Improvement at that position could deliver a deep post season drive.
ReplyDeleteCMC was a pretty good signing.
DeleteUC,
DeleteCMC was acquired through trade
Okay true enough
DeleteTimeline for Mykel Williams is he suffered his injury in early November. Assuming surgery occurred shortly after, a typical ACL recovery timeline for NFL players lands closer to 10-12 months after surgery. Week 1 of the season is around ~ 10 months post-surgery so it would be early in his window to play that week. Figure he should be back week 4-5 at the absolute latest.
ReplyDeleteSorry, Coach. You were describing the interior oline not dline. I need to upgrade my reading 🥸
ReplyDeleteSteve Smith on the 49ers current WR room:
ReplyDelete“I think this is the most complete wide receiver group Kyle Shanahan has had as the head coach for the San Francisco 49ers.”
Smith goes on to call it the best WR group Kyle has ever had with the 49ers.
Steve Smith on De'Zhaun Stribling:
ReplyDelete“He is what they were hoping Brandon Aiyuk can be, but he has a little bit more mental bandwidth.”😆🤣😂💀
"mental bandwidth" is classic, lol.
ReplyDeleteTough joint practice for the Chargers yesterday. They have lost their starting Center Tyler Biadasz with a serious knee (ACL) injury and is out indefinitely according to Adam Schefter.
ReplyDeleteWow, joint practices can take their toll.
Higgins gone for the Texans.
DeleteVita Vea signed with Bucs for 30 million...
ReplyDeleteThe Bucs have been adamant about keeping Vea, and they put their money where their mouth is. No way, the 49ers were going to give Vita that kind of coin.
ReplyDelete$30M is great trade repellant.
DeleteHaha, yup.
ReplyDeleteKaelon Black might turn out to be special. Kaelon "Game-on" Black will help make Shanahan and Lynch' 2025 draft look like a gold mine haul. At least 5-6 players have a chance to make the 53R. Stribling, Duggar, Halton, Height, Willis, and maybe Prysock.
ReplyDeleteAhh, *2026* draft.
ReplyDeleteI have been saying since well before the draft that the 49ers should sign Jadeveon Clowney. There is almost too little time left to get him ready for the first game. He would be a perfect 3 down replacement until Williams gets back around game 4 or 5. After that he could become a rotational player. After Bosa I really believe that a healthy Williams is the key to the 9ers run D this year.
ReplyDeleteCouldn't set the edge before Williams. That's what he was drafted to do. That and move inside on obvious passing downs. NASCAR package should look like this:
DeleteHeight/Duggar
Williams
Osa
Bosa
I'm getting ready for the "Bosa/Osa" show.
DeleteClowney signed with Houston, I think it was.
DeleteI am hearing that there is a season ending injury to an RB.
ReplyDeletePatrick Tayor?
DeleteYes it is
DeleteThe 49ers have placed RB Patrick Taylor Jr. on IR and signed Khalil Herbert to a one-year deal.
