I said it last July and I'll say it again; the 49ers need to find a way ($) to keep Jauan Jennings. This guy is the closes thing to a hard nosed Marine. He shows up and plays hurt and like Shanahan said, "plays with passion." Those types don't grow on the trees.

DeleteAs much as anyone on the blog, I've said I'd like to see the 9ers try to keep JJ. But with all the 9er position needs, how much can / will the 9ers allocate for one WR?
Spotrac projects Jauan Jennings' market value at ~$22.6 Mil AAV on a 3 year, $67.8 million total contract.
Possible 2026 free agent WR's the 9ers could sign for $10Mil. to $15 Mil AAV:
Alec Pierce: Coming off a 2026 1000+ yard season and led the league in yards per catch (21.3). He is a premier deep threat and, at 26, is entering his prime, likely commanding a deal in the $12-$15M+ range.
Wan'Dale Robinson: A high-volume receiver who proved his value with over 90 receptions and 1,000 yards in 2025. His reliability in the short-to-intermediate range and fits KS system.He'll likely fit into the $10-$13M range.
Romeo Doubs: A 26 y/o consistent producer with 21 career TD's He offers reliable hands and can fit into the $10Mil. to $14M AAV range as a dependable WR2 weapon.
Christian Kirk: Struggled in 2025, but his previous production (3-year, $60M+) makes him a candidate for a bounce-back, deal in the $13-$15M range.
Rashid Shaheed: An explosive WR and returner traded to Seattle in 2025. If he hits the market, he'd be in the $10-$12M range, Plus he'd add some much-needed speed.
It took Nick Martin 7 weeks to clear concussion protocol. I think he should consider retirement.
ReplyDeleteI was thinking along similar lines. Even if he doesn't retire, the 49ers simply can't rely on him if he's already getting severe concussions that take a couple of months to recover.

ReplyDeleteSeems pretty minor but plantar fasciitis can reoccur. I hope his doesn't. I believe he can hold down the TE spot until Kittle can return. He can't run the seam route like Kittle and he doesn't get YAC like Kittle but as a possession TE he kind of reminds me of Brent Jones

4th thru rd 7 is where the scouts need to make their money. UDFAs also comes into play in finding those diamonds in the rough. Hopefully, they can hit on those players in April.
ReplyDeleteI have been saying for years if it is a different group pulling the trigger on the first 3 rounds than are pulling the trigger on rounds 4 through 7 (including UDFAs) they should let the team that is drafting rounds 4 through 7 handle the whole draft
