End Of Year Press Conference

Kyle Shanahan said Gus Bradley is the main internal candidate to replace Robert Saleh as the next defensive coordinator.

Nick Martin was cleared from the concussion protocol today.

John Lynch was asked what fractured Brandon Aiyuk’s relationship with the organization: “I wish I knew. I can’t help you there.” John Lynch says it's safe to say Brandon Aiyuk has played his last snap as a 49er.

Alfred Collins injured his shoulder against the Seahawks and it might require surgery during the offseason, per Kyle Shanahan.

Kyle Shanahan said they would like to re-sign Eddy PiƱeiro, Thomas Morstead, and Jon Weeks if possible.

Nick Bosa is tracking towards a return in training camp, however there’s no official timetable for his return, per John Lynch.

John Lynch on the possibility of re-signing Jauan Jennings: “He plays the game the right way. We would love to have him back. We’ll work to accomplish that and see how it goes.”

  1. I said it last July and I'll say it again; the 49ers need to find a way ($) to keep Jauan Jennings. This guy is the closes thing to a hard nosed Marine. He shows up and plays hurt and like Shanahan said, "plays with passion." Those types don't grow on the trees.

    1. The way to keep him is to pay him commensurate with market. What he's reported to be seeking is $20M+ a year.

  2. It took Nick Martin 7 weeks to clear concussion protocol. I think he should consider retirement.

    1. I was thinking along similar lines. Even if he doesn't retire, the 49ers simply can't rely on him if he's already getting severe concussions that take a couple of months to recover.

Absolutely sucks, as I think he's got a lot of talent.

  4. Jake Tonges has a plantar fascia injury and will take 3 weeks for recovery.

    1. Seems pretty minor but plantar fasciitis can reoccur. I hope his doesn't. I believe he can hold down the TE spot until Kittle can return. He can't run the seam route like Kittle and he doesn't get YAC like Kittle but as a possession TE he kind of reminds me of Brent Jones

  6. 49ers Josh Williams, Director of Scouting and Football Operations, provided great insight on how they plan for every draft pick:

"For every player we draft, we have a vision for them. We are constantly talking to our coaches, talking to each other, working collectively to have a vision for how they will make this team."

  7. 4th thru rd 7 is where the scouts need to make their money. UDFAs also comes into play in finding those diamonds in the rough. Hopefully, they can hit on those players in April.
