If the 49ers are interested in Nolen, why wait until pick 17? For me, the only thing in this deal that stands out is the 3rd pick in 26 Blue is good, but his speed doesn't show up in games as much in watching his tape. Also, Blue had a dang good Oline to open holes.
ReplyDeleteI'm on the B. Tuten wagon, who has been a very productive RB sans the stars on his Oline.
3rd rd pick in 26.
DeleteThe 49ers offseason program dates have been announced:
ReplyDelete• First Day: April 22
• OTA Offseason Workouts: May 27-28, May 30, June 2-3, June 5
• Mandatory Minicamp: June 10-11
Jalen Walker isn’t really an off the ball LB (UGA tried in ‘23). He wants to destroy moving forward at all times. I don't understand those that mock him in the top with that in mind.
ReplyDeleteThis is why I have a really hard time projecting him to thr NFL. He's very undersized and underdeveloped for a DE, but I don't like him at LB.
DeleteI think he needs to go to a 3-4 team.
• Darien Porter – Iowa State
ReplyDelete• Zah Frazier – UTSA
2 scheme specific players that fit us to a tee. Long, ball skills, can run and most comfortable with their back to the sideline to use their zone eyes.
Yep, can definitely see them being options.
DeleteZah Frazier:
Delete➖#1 Ballhawk (INTs + PBUs per snap) score of the 70 CBs we graded
➖5.6% missed tackle rate (#1 in the class)
➖Coming off 6 INT season in 2024
From Brett Kollmann.
ReplyDeleteHere's a fun CJ West stat for you.
Indiana's average depth on tackle against A-gap runs last season was just 2.11 yards. The next closest team was 2.75.
Indiana faced only 85 such runs, which was 104th in the country, but had 29 TFLs or no gains. That was 4th-most!
West would look great ín a 49ers uniform.
ReplyDeleteNolen, Femi and West would make me very happy.
ReplyDeleteI like Femi, but I think he is being overrated atm. When he was considered a day 3 steal I was right on board. Now I am hearing he could go as high as the 2nd, which is far too high imo.
DeleteEarliest I'd take him is where you have - 3rd round comp pick. Though I think he should be a 4th rounder. Love his attitude and he has nice traits, but he is still a project and very raw as a pass rusher.
Yes sir!
ReplyDelete49ers are bringing quite a few guys in for top 30 visits that I'm not a huge fan of. Kelvin Banks the latest.
ReplyDeleteMe either.
DeleteGood news regarding Walter Nolen; Jordan Reid of ESPN, “Every source I have spoken to about Nolen has told me that interviews and interactions with him have gone very well.”
ReplyDeleteIf true, he's my pick at 11.
DeleteI'm certain Nick Bosa would agree.
DeleteIt might be an indication that the 49ers should stay at #11 with a better at Nolen. That is, if the 49ers are seriously targeting him.
ReplyDeleteJarquez Hunter, RB, Auburn career numbers (compared to other '25 prospects)
ReplyDelete+ YPC: 6.3 (4th among 31 RBs)
+ MTF/Att: 0.31 (T-4th)
+ YACo/Att: 3.96 (4th)
+ Breakaway Run %: 10.2% (2nd)
Mukuba is an early day 3 FS for mine. Agility isn't good enough and his lack of length compound the problem.
ReplyDeletePlayer I like is Malik Verdon S Iowa State. He has a knack for always being around the ball and plays with good instincts that make up for his average 4.5 40 speed. Yet, coming in at 6'4" and 220 lbs is not bad for a Safety. He's a bigger version of Tal Hufanga. I think he may be available on day 3.
DeleteYou are picking Zabel with the second overall pick so the talent must be there. Talent in itself is not enough for the position, is Zabel smart and does he play with an attitude?
ReplyDeleteMeasured at 6-foot-6 and 312 pounds
DeleteHas nearly 1,000 snaps at both left tackle and right tackle
Allowed just 4 career sacks in over 1,100 pass protection snaps
1st-team All-American as a senior
Voted top Senior Bowl practice player by the players
Turned 23 in March
Kinda reminds me of Alex Mack.
According to Matt Miller the belief is that the 49ers absolutely love Harold Fannin Jr and will try to trade back to get extra picks before taking him round 1.
ReplyDeleteFor a bit of fun I decided to do a mock with this scenario. Buffalo were very accommodating, giving me 30, 56, 62, 109 and 132 for pick 11.
Delete30. Harold Fannin Jr, TE
43. Donovan Jackson, OG
56. Tyleik Williams, NT
62. TJ Sanders, DT
75. Josaiah Stewart, DE
100. Femi Oladejo, DE
109. Chris Paul Jr, LB
113. Zah Frazier, CB
132. Kyle Williams, WR
138. Bhayshul Tuten, RB
147. Chase Lundt, OT
160. Billy Bowman, S
227. Nick Martin, LB
249. Jabbar Muhammad, CB
252. Ahmed Hassanein, DL

ReplyDeleteHonestly no more- please-
DeleteThanks Coach. Draftmas is right around the corner.
DeleteJohn Lynch and the 49ers hold the 7th-most valuable draft capital in the league this year - their highest since 2019.
ReplyDeleteOL Branson Taylor recently visited with the 49ers and had a private workout, per RyanFowler.
ReplyDeleteThey sure are putting the work in on day 3 swing OG/OT types.
DeletePretty much how they've built their OL is through draft and development except for the starting LT position and Center. The two they hold most precious to the execution level required to allow the offense efficacy.
DeleteEvery year fans complain about their offensive line philosophy and they're perfectly fine to disagree with it, (although it does get very annoying), however you can't disagree with how it's worked.
ReplyDeleteNot sure I agree there. The OL has been average to above average most of the Shanahan era, in large part due to run game, but rarely great and often only average in pass pro. Which is a large part of the reason why many fans want upgrades.
DeleteThe Shanahan offense is predicated on the run game.
DeleteYes it is. But I still think it is fair for fans to disagree with both the approach and the results in consideration of the results in pass pro, which can be pretty hit ot miss.
DeleteYep, they can bitch about it to their hearts content. Brendel is trash, blah, blah, but in the end it doesn't change the fact that their philosophy, whether you disagree or you don't has been proven twice with the SB appearances and divisional titles. I do find it comical though because the ones screaming the loudest either don't understand that we are a run first team or won't even entertain the idea to calm down their rantings about the offensive line. Why did our run game suffer last year? Miscalculation of losing Woerner. Foerster said as much when he singled out Saubert's inability to replace him. Wasn't their first choice but it seem Farrell might rectify that.
DeleteThe OL is decent so yes, anyone complaining it's trash is exaggerating.
DeleteRun game suffered for more reasons than the TE. Brendel started the year poorly due to his knee (better second half of the year) and as much as Puni looked good, he had some struggles in the run game. Williams being out a lot didn't help either, and neither did having the LG position being a revolving door due to injury.
Get more continuity this year and it will be better.
Agreed but Foerster specifically pointed out that Saubert wasn't able to reproduce what Woerner did for them. Brendel played the season injured. He's tough as nails. Never missed a game.
DeleteI agree with your points regarding the continuity and injuries. I'm just pointing out that Woerner did a lot for them in the run game.
DeleteHad the 49ers played the Eagles in the NFC Championship game last year Brock would likely had been more beat up than Mahomes was in the SB. The Oline needs help ASAP.
ReplyDeleteYet it was the same OL that led the league in '23 in rushing offense which got them to a SB. They upgraded their RG and not for $20M. LG is now up for grabs.
DeleteThe 49er have been a little slow in seriously targeting an heir-apparent for the eventual retirement of Trent Williams. I hope they don't miss out on that opportunity later this month. There may only be a hand-full that could be D1 starters and become TW replacement in time.
ReplyDeleteLooking for that person in the 3rd rd and beyond is a little to hopeful imho.
Next years OL class is so much better AES and their scouts keep them informed many years in advance to coincide with need as to each years strengths and weaknesses.
ReplyDeleteRazor,
DeleteI hear you. But waiting a year might put the 49ers in a precarious situation if Brock does not survive this year. With Purdy in line to receive 2 brinks trucks, it's important to give him stout protection this year. If Membou is gone by the 10th pick, Kevin Banks or Campbell could become a D1S.
Could be it'll all be up to Foerster and if he believes Membou, Banks or Campbell are future dancing bears. I'd be surprised if they address OL before round 3 tbh.
DeleteI saw some tape on the guy you mentioned a month ago. Charles Grant would be a nice piece in the 3rd rd.
ReplyDeleteMy apologies to any who are bothered by my post but AES and I like it. So here goes. 19 days until the draft
ReplyDeleteYes! Let's go, Coach!
