Different Strokes 2025 NFL Mock Draft: San Francisco 49ers

A different approach and one that's growing on me. Maybe after the combine I'll change my mind but I kind of like this one a little better.

  1. I think you can easily justify a lot of ways to go about this draft, which is a sign of how many areas the team could do with an upgrade.

FA and potential trades will also play a huge factor.

    1. This really is gonna be a facinating next 2 months to see how this regime's plan unfolds.

  2. I dont love Walker for our scheme, as I would much prefer him as a stack backer that you can utilize more as blitzer than as an everydown edge. There is a lot of projection there. That said, if he could basically recreate a Bowman / Willis combo its not a bad thing.
However I really like most of your other selections, there are so many ways they could go... free agency could tell us quite a bit as well.

    1. I hear ya on Walker but I think he'd be a valuable chess piece. I think you could do a lot of different things with him to confuse an offense. Do I think they'll draft him? Probably not.

True. There's many ways to skin this cat and I'm excited to see it unfold in the next 2 months.

  3. Apparently, the NYJets are giving A. Rodgers has walking papers. Many draftniks had the Jets drafting M. Graham with their first pick. With Rodgers done the Jets may need to turn their attention away from Graham and look for a QB. Jaxon Dart, anyone?

    1. I got a 2nd round grade on Dart.

    2. The Jets are good at making bad decisions. I wonder what their plan is to replace Rogers who they already paid a lot of money to play. I doubt they will find anyone better. This is what happens when you have an owner who thinks he is smarter than the professionals.

    3. Felix,
My hope is that Graham gets passed up with the first 10 picks and falls on the 49ers lap.

    4. That would be great.

    1. Interestingly, I was listening to PFF on the best interior D linemen.
They had only one clear 1st round DT in Graham, and 2 DTs w/ 1st/2nd Rd grades in Nolan and Grant.
The greater point was the depth was awesome but the top end talent was not.

    2. That's fair. I think the same can be said for a lot of positions. It's why the scuttlebutt is that many teams only have around 10-12 1st round grades.

    3. Where do you two see Nic Scourton drafted?

    4. Imo he's a late 1st/ early 2nd.

    5. between 22-30 as I think he a 3-4 end not edge.

  6. Jabbar Muhammad is Assante Samuel Jr.

  7. Luke Kandra, RG, Cincinnati, 6'4 323 lbs. (0.1% penalty rate) and boasts just a 0.3% sack allowed rate.

    1. Kandra was a weird film review for me. On the one hand he's quite powerful and he shows pretty good athleticism and an ability to get to the second level quickly. On the other he seemed to be a very linear player. He'll obliterate a stationary target when on the move, but if the defender takes any action to avoid him he usually will.

  8. Anybody see some Jamie Collins to Jalon Walker's game?

    1. I've seen the comparison and it's not bad. Of course Collins ended up being best suited in a 3-4, so maybe that's Walker's best fit too.

Everything I read about him seems to suggest he's a great leader and high intensity, which with Greenlaw and Hufanga potentially leaving might make for a good fit to fill that void.

    2. Also, not sure if you've ever heard Walker speak, but he is going to have great interviews with teams. Smart guy, well spoken, loves football, loves the work that goes into being a good player.

  9. Mustapha was BY FAR the NFL’s best coverage safety, as a rookie.

    • 407 coverage snaps
    • 17 targets (least in NFL)
    • 7 receptions allowed (least in NFL)
    • 49 yards allowed (least in NFL)
    • 1 INT

    1. The rookies last year for the most part all showed promise to be decent starters or role players. Now need them all to build and improve on that, and hopefullyhave a few of them emerge as top end starters. Can't afford to have a bunch of them suffer a Sophomore slump like Brown did last year.

    2. Who would like to pair him with? Someone Like Emmanwori who has ball skills, and is a punishing hitter to add an intimidation factor? Or Mukuba, who is a bit smaller but quick and instinctive.
Both are fast so and have range but Mukuba is better as a true single high while Emmanwori is bigger hitter with better ball skills.

    3. We need a veteran Strong Safety/Thumper/Hybrid LB who embodies Saleh's philosophy of All Gas No Brakes.

We should also expect a sophomore slump from Mustafa....as the Defensive philosophy is now gonna change.

So IMO we would need safety insurance (no pun intended and assuming Huf leaves in FA)

    4. Robinson may be that small LB- had a good camp and they were excited to see him start.......... tore ACL mid-season, if you recall.
