2025 San Francisco Draft: Character Matters

Interviews will hold a lot of weight for these players. In this mock draft we will remove the following questionable character players from their board:

Walter Nolen, "If it was just about talent, Nolen would have an argument to go inside the top 15 selections in April. The biggest test for Nolen in Indianapolis is to sell himself as a person to teams. There is some worrisome feedback regarding character for Nolen, which goes back to his high school days, and continued both at Texas A&M and with the Rebels. There are even a couple of NFL teams who have already taken Nolen off their boards".

James Pearce Jr.was arrested during a traffic stop after disobeying orders from police, according to a Knoxville Police Department incident report.

Police said they clocked Pearce traveling 63 mph in a 35 mph zone and that his vehicle had an expired North Carolina temporary tag. Once Pearce was pulled over, police determined that he was driving on a suspended license out of North Carolina and said he failed to provide identification or proof of insurance.

According to the report, Pearce had to be told multiple times to turn off his vehicle and to step out of the vehicle. Police said they then explained to Pearce that his vehicle was being towed and asked if there was anything illegal inside or any personal property he needed. At that point, police said they instructed Pearce to stand at the front of the police car with assisting officers.

The officer said that as he went back to look in the front seat of Pearce's vehicle, Pearce began to walk back toward his vehicle and was detained by the assisting officers without incident. Pearce was then arrested and his vehicle impounded, the report said.

Pearce was transported to Knox County Detention Facility and charged with speeding, driving on a suspended license, failure to present insurance, registration not properly displayed and improper window tinting.

Mike GreenI don’t have a concrete source but a beat reporter I trust, corroborated by another who’s a regular combine attendee (take that for whatever it’s worth to you obviously) said word on the street is he had multiple sexual assault allegations in high school, UVA told him “absolutely none of that shit here or you’re done”, then he had a further allegation while he was there, so they canned him.

Princely Umanmielen, had to be restrained by security when he attemped to attack fans after a Florida Gators game.

Having said all that, I think Mike Green is the only one completely wiped off the 49ers' board if the other three's interviews are good, but we will proceed as if they're all off the board in Round 1:

  • San Francisco Receives:
    • 2025: Round 1, Pick 12
    • 2025: Round 2, Pick 44
    • 2025: Round 5, Pick 150
    • 2025: Round 5, Pick 172
    Dallas Receives:
    • 2025: Round 1, Pick 11
