ReplyDelete9ers resigning RB Elijah Mitchell would surprise me. How much do
ReplyDeleteyou think the 9ers will pay him?
League minimum.
DeleteDamien Martinez: 🤯 2024 per SIS:
ReplyDelete- highest success rate on 3rd/4th & short in the FBS (93.8%)
- highest success rate when contacted behind the LOS in this class (30.0%)
I could understand the 49ers waiting up to rd 3 for an OL draft pick. But waiting until the end of the draft is very risky, imho. Aside from potentially scoring FA Drew Dalman, this seems to leave the cupboard bare on Olinemen.
ReplyDeleteJaylon Moore, Trent Williams, Ben Bartch, Nick Zakelj, Matt Hennessy, Spencer Burford, Dominick Puni, Colton McKivitz, Drake Nugent, Conner Colby, Drew Dalman, Logan Brown.
DeleteThat cupboard is far from bare.
Above comment is AES.
ReplyDeleteMan, if that's the 49ers offseason I'll be ecstatic. Great job razor!
ReplyDeleteThanks Scooter.
DeleteThere are at least 3 known starters in this group and potentially Dalman if he's signed. That is far from a full cupboard unless the 49ers want to keep old peanut butter hiding in the back space. If the 49ers can score on a FA Olineman along with Dalman, drafting day 3 Olinemen makes sense.
ReplyDeleteLG is the only opening.
DeleteIs Drew Dalman signed? There's no real solidarity currently on the backup Olinemen. Only two late draft picks gives me pause. But if they can find another D. Puni it will brighten my day come April.
DeleteRazor
DeleteAre you still project Nick Zakelj will replace Jake Brendel at Center, or the 9ers will draft a C to compete with Brendel?
Yea, I signed Dalman and traded Brendel.
DeleteYup, haha.
DeleteThe 49ers have released Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles.

ReplyDeleteRE draft pick #11 DT Walter Nolen, Mississippi:
The draft boards I'm looking at show Nolan as draft pick #20 +/- 3 picks. I'm Curious what board your looking and If you're seeing him there also?
Zierlein has Nolen as his 5th rated player overall with a 6.71 grade. I zeroed in on Nolen back on December 18th.
DeleteYep, you've been saying he's a top prospect for ages, razor. And as soon as I took a look at him I could only agree.
DeleteInternet draft boards are cool, but they are only a guide.
OK, I haven't seen Zierein rated Nolen, I've had the 9ers trading down for him, but expected him to be drafted top 15.
DeleteWSU WR Kyle Williams

Could 49ers fans ever accept another WR named Kyle Williams?

DeleteI like him as a 2nd-3rd day pick.
ReplyDeleteThe NFL informed teams today that the 2025 salary cap will be roughly $277.5M-$281.5M, per @DanGrazianoESPN.
ReplyDeleteThat's an increase of $22.1M-$26.1M from last year — and beats what most executives were anticipating. 📈📈
If the cap lands in at $280M:
ReplyDelete49ers 2025 Carryover: $50.1M
49ers 2025 Adjustments: $5M
49ers 2025 Adjusted Salary Cap: $336.6M
The 49ers are at $290.7M in salary + dead money for 2025 already.
They would have nearly $45.9M in cap space, per 49erscap.
.
Deebo somewhat complicates things, at a minimum 11 million in cap space this year and 21 million next year and that goes with him being released by Mar 22 and then designate June 1 as the cut date. (<Not sure what that means.) Any trade the cap hit is going to be around 47 million.
DeleteInfo comes from Dan Graziano
Post June 1st cut of Deebo saves the team 5 million this year and allows them to spread out his cap hit over 2 years.
DeleteThat's not even factoring in the cap relief if they extend Warner and Kittle.
ReplyDeleteIowa State OT Jalen Travis moves well for being 6'7" and 340lbs.
ReplyDeleteThe 49ers are projected to have $50.6M in salary cap space for 2025. This is without making any cuts, restructures or trades.
ReplyDeleteJust to mix things up a bit, if Tet McMillan is there at 11, and assuming Deebo is indeed gone, should the 49ers take him?
ReplyDeleteIf you liked Drake London and where he was drafted you love McMillan at 11.
DeleteI'm a self diagnosed WR snob, I admit it. My brain tells me McMillan is obviously going to be a dominant player - guys that size with that level of coordination just don't miss. But aesthetically I really just don't like the way he plays the position. He wins because of his size and athleticism, not because he's actually a good WR technically.
DeleteBut yeah, he's going to be great regardless.
I don't think Shanahan would value McMillan at 11 but I could be wrong. Although the wr position is an elite position, I think going forward they should try to cycle through them via the draft rather than investing $30 million in one. I think we've arrived at a point where the wr market has priced itself out of its value.
DeleteYeah, agree on all the above.
DeleteI think Shanahan is also a WR snob and likes to see guys that can separate. Not sure McMillan will be his cup of tea.
Cincinnati Bengals Ja'marr Chase is seeking around $40M per season.👀
DeleteLSU EDGE Bradyn Swinson has some nice tape.
ReplyDeleteSure does.
DeleteBarring character issues, give me one of Abdul Carter, Mike Green, James Pearce, Princely Umanmielen, Josaiah Stewart, Ashton Gillotte, Bradyn Swinson, Donovan Ezeiruaku, David Walker or Elijah Roberts and I'll be happy.
And tbh, if they take Jalon Walker I won't be mad either. Dude is just a football player.
DeletePlenty of options. I won't understand if they don't take 4 bites out of this draft at DL minimum.
DeleteI'd be ok with 3 - end of the day they do already have 4 DEs they're probably happy to go into the season with already. But more bites at the cherry never hurts.
DeleteCJ West is just good. I see some DJ Jones to his game, but Poona is also a good comp. Basically short, stout and athletic.

Mitchell Evans, TE, Notre Dame finished the last two seasons with nearly a 72% competition percentage when targeted, and lined up both inline and as a slot/unattached over 400 snaps across two years. That kind of experience will get the 49ers attention.
ReplyDeleteREPORT: The #49ers are exploring selling a part of the team (up to 10 percent ownership stake). They are selling it at a total franchise valuation of more than $9 billion.
ReplyDeleteThe York’s will still be majority owners!

The Jets have contacted the Titans to discuss the #1 pick in the NFL Draft to get Cam Ward.
ReplyDeletePotential Trade Package:
Jets’ first-round pick (2025), second-round pick (2025), a first-round pick (2026), a second-round pick (2026) and another second-round pick (2027).
Geez, if the Giants missed out on Ward, wonder what their plan would be?
DeleteCould they be in play for Sam Darnold?

DeleteDrake London since being drafted:
ReplyDelete💪 53 Contested Catches
2nd most in the NFL 🏆
I haven't really watched much Falcons the past few years so no idea how London has looked, though obviously his stat line looks pretty good. Lots of contested catches though is usually a sign of a guy that struggles to get open.

ReplyDeleteShould the 9ers sign NFL free agent CB Asante Samuel Jr.?
ReplyDeleteESPN Matt Bowen believes so. He wrote an article published Tuesday about the top 50 fits for the current class of NFL free agents, and he linked cornerback Asante Samuel Jr. – rated the No. 31 overall free agent – to San Francisco.
ESPN identifies 49ers as best fit for free-agent AFC cornerback:
https://sports.yahoo.com/article/espn-identifies-49ers-best-fit-194655570.html
Yea, Scooter mentioned Samuel Jr. as a possible F/A target a week ago.
DeleteShanaLynch have been interested in him since the year he was drafted. I'd be surprised if they don't make a play for him.
DeleteKittle reveals where he wants 49ers to focus in 2025 NFL Draft:
ReplyDelete“If the Super Bowl showed anything, if you have a really good offensive line and a really good defensive line, it doesn’t matter what the other team has,” Kittle told USA Today’s Mackenzie Salmon on Tuesday for “Sports Seriously.” “It just doesn’t matter. So if your offensive line is dominant, and your defense line is dominant, it doesn’t really matter.”
https://sports.yahoo.com/article/kittle-reveals-where-wants-49ers-174107890.html
* The trenches-heavy formula couldn’t have worked better for the Eagles, and Kittle only can hope the 49ers follow Philadelphia’s championship ways during the upcoming draft with the No. 11 overall pick.
GEEP,
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting this. Kittle has it right. It's also my long standing philosophy that teams should build from the inside-out on both sides of the ball. In 2025, that should be a top priority.
👍
DeleteElijah Roberts is being slept on.
ReplyDeleteAgreed. Big, strong, athletic and highly productive.
DeleteShanahan joining Lynch at the combine suggests an all hands on deck evaluation process. I should make the 3 hour drive South to get a glimpse of the power duo.
ReplyDeleteIt's been a few years since they both attended.
DeleteKyle Shanahan is NOT expected to attend the NFL Combine next week, per Maiocco. This comes after Matt Barrows reported on
Deletethat Kyle is likely to attend the Combine.
Razor, I keep hearing reports about Nolen's character being a concern for many teams... but very vague on what. You heard anything specific?
ReplyDeleteAt this point I am guessing they are more to do with maturity and work ethic concerns. And I suspect largely attributable to his time at A&M. Everything I've heard about his time at Ole Miss was that he was a good worker and great in practice.
Pretty much what I've heard as well. Interviews and medicals are two key components of the process we'll never be privy to.
DeleteDevin Neal is such a fun RB to watch. Great instincts and vision. Nice combo of patience and decisiveness. Short, efficient steps with nice balance, cutting ability and wiggle in tight spaces. Good forward lean and power to pick up extra yards. Good receiver.
ReplyDeleteHe actually reminds me some of Frank Gore.
I wonder if Frank is in on the RB evaluation process.
DeleteDaniel Jeremiah has the 49ers selecting CB Will Johnson, Michigan with their first-round pick #11 in his latest mock draft.
ReplyDelete* The 9ers will need to replace CB Charvarius Ward and Jonson would be a great draft pick, I doubt they'll draft a CB with draft pick #11.
* I expect the 9ers will draft a DT, or EDGE with pick #11 and also use draft picks #43 and 75 also on defense.
Lance Zierlein's NFL DT draft prospect, pre Combine grades for 2025:
ReplyDeleteDT Walter Nolan 6.71
DT Mason Graham 6.49
DT Derrick Harmon 6.38
DT Kenneth Grant 6.36
DT Tyleik Williams 6.35
DT Alfred Collins 6.32
DE Abdul Carter 7.00
DE Mykel Williams 6,47
DE Mike Green 6.45
DE Shemar Stewart 6.41
DE Donovan Ezeiruaku 6.40
DE James Pearce Jr 6.40
Nolen will likely be on the board at #11. Ezeiruaku might slip to #43. The 49ers definitely need to re-invent themselves along the Dline. Given the fact that they finished 6-11, it has put them in a good situation to draft solid players. My sense is that they won't be drafting in the top 12 for years, so they better hit gold in April.
ReplyDeleteAES
ReplyDelete* Using Lance Zierlein pre Combine grades, DE Donovan Ezeiruaku is first round #17, and 6.34 grade
* Draft pick #43 is S Malaki Starkes, also 6.34 grade. Draft pick #47 is DE Josaiah Stewart 6.33 grade. #51 DT Alfred Collins, 6.32 grade.
* Draft pick #75 is DT TJ Sanders 6.24 grade.
DT Sheldon Rankins released and a player Saleh had interest in.
ReplyDelete49ers on PFF's Top-101 players list for 2024:
ReplyDelete• George Kittle, #13
• Nick Bosa, #35
• Fred Warner, #57
• Trent Williams, #98
• Dominick Puni, #100
Puni was the only offensive lineman from his draft class to make the list 👏👏
Razor I'd like to see JL pull another rabbit (OG like Puni) out of his draft hat! Like OG Connor Colby, but also like OG Luke Kandra Cincinnati.
DeleteIf his leg passes medical, 9ers should take a hard look at Sacramento St. OG Jackson Slater, a sleeper late day 3.

ReplyDeleteYards after contact per carry for 2025 NFL Draft RBs:
ReplyDelete5.25 - Ashton Jeanty 😵
4.46 - Damien Martinez
4.43 - TreVeyon Henderson
4.42 - Kaleb Johnson
4.40 - Bhayshul Tuten
TreVeyon Henderson is Clinton Portis
ReplyDeleteHenderson is going to go earlier than most draft sites have him currently. Guys with that level of big play ability don't last long. Late 1st/ early 2nd.
DeleteClinton Portis taken at pick 51 by none other than Mike Shanahan.
DeleteJackson Hawes is a guy I'd be willing to "overdraft". Incredible blocker, but I reckon he's going to shock people with how he tests - he's a good athlete. Just didn't get many opportunities to show it at GT. Grab him in the 4th or 5th.
ReplyDelete3rd in pass pro and 3rd in run blocking.
DeleteI was really surprised to see how fluid and athletic a mover he is. I reckon there's a lot of untapped potential as a receiver in there too.
DeleteFannin Jr looks like a perfect fit as Travis Kelce's replacement at the Chiefs.
ReplyDeleteDoesn't he have like the 2nd best run blocking grade?
DeleteNot sure, but he looks like a guy that for a team willing to move the TE around and make the TE a focal point will be very productive.
Delete
