Interviews will hold a lot of weight for these players. In this mock draft we will remove the following questionable character players from their board:
Walter Nolen, "If it was just about talent, Nolen would have an argument to go inside the top 15 selections in April. The biggest test for Nolen in Indianapolis is to sell himself as a person to teams. There is some worrisome feedback regarding character for Nolen, which goes back to his high school days, and continued both at Texas A&M and with the Rebels. There are even a couple of NFL teams who have already taken Nolen off their boards".
James Pearce Jr., was arrested during a traffic stop after disobeying orders from police, according to a Knoxville Police Department incident report.
Police said they clocked Pearce traveling 63 mph in a 35 mph zone and that his vehicle had an expired North Carolina temporary tag. Once Pearce was pulled over, police determined that he was driving on a suspended license out of North Carolina and said he failed to provide identification or proof of insurance.
According to the report, Pearce had to be told multiple times to turn off his vehicle and to step out of the vehicle. Police said they then explained to Pearce that his vehicle was being towed and asked if there was anything illegal inside or any personal property he needed. At that point, police said they instructed Pearce to stand at the front of the police car with assisting officers.
The officer said that as he went back to look in the front seat of Pearce's vehicle, Pearce began to walk back toward his vehicle and was detained by the assisting officers without incident. Pearce was then arrested and his vehicle impounded, the report said.
Pearce was transported to Knox County Detention Facility and charged with speeding, driving on a suspended license, failure to present insurance, registration not properly displayed and improper window tinting.

My Selections
This draft features 3 TEs that accounted for at least 1/3 of their school's passing offense last fall
ReplyDeleteTyler Warren 33.7%
Colston Loveland 34.7%
Harold Fannin Jr. 49.5%❗️
For context, Brock Bowers never got to 25% at UGA and the last TE to do so was Trey McBride in 2021 (37.3%)
I'm happy to see Tuten on you new mock. For me, he's the closest comp to Frank Gore. Pegues is also a favorite of mine. Good looking out, Razor.
ReplyDeleteThanks.
DeleteIs Puni the next starting LT after Williams?
ReplyDeleteNah, you'd only want him in a pinch out there. The idea here is allow a true competition between Membou and McKivitz and the loser slides into LG.
DeleteTaking that top end DL talent of the draft board sure does change things up. Nice mock razor
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteGennings Dunker, OG, Iowa 2026 draft target. Might give him the nickname of Undertaker.
ReplyDeleteRazor If I understand your proposed mock draft correctly, the 9ers trade down with Dallas as follows:
ReplyDelete* Dallas receives the 9ers Rd #1, Draft pick #11 (worth 1250 points).
In return, the 9ers receive draft picks #12, #44. #150 and draft pick #172 (worth 1740 points)? I like it, but JL could be charged with Grand Theft.....
They wanted Jalon Walker, OLB, Georgia.
Delete👍 Always enjoy screwing JJ and Dallas!
DeleteI really like Jack Sawyer in the late 3rd or 4th round. Am I under valuing or over valuing him?
ReplyDeleteImo you're valuing him just right. But most draftniks seem to consider him an early to mid 2nd rounder.
DeleteDr. Andrews hanging up the scrubs.
ReplyDelete🚨NFL RUMORS
ReplyDeleteThe #49ers are the favorites to land #Jets free agent DJ Reed. One of the top corners on the market
FA is going to be very interesting to see which holes they decide to fill with bona fide starters and which they just add depth to.
DeleteThe NFL Merry-Go-Round:
ReplyDelete* The 9ers drafted Reed in 2018, but released him.
* As a NYJ, Reed established himself as a top CB that could play both inside and outside.
* Reed played for Saleh when Saleh was the Jets HC
* Saleh favors outside CB's that can play man coverage. Reed has demonstrated he excels in man coverage.
Reed has become a very good CB since his days in SF, Seattle and now the Jets. Strangely enough, Selah was the Dcord in SF when DJ was released. So it would be quite the turn-around if he came back to play with the 49ers. The one thing that gives me pause regarding Reed is his size. Some have him listed at 5'10" while some have him at 5'9" which might be a liability against the larger WRs in our division.

ReplyDeleteLooking forward to the NFL 2025 Combine. Thursday 02/27/2025 thru
ReplyDeleteSunday 03/02/2025.
The 49ers have re-signed G Ben Bartch, per EricBranch.
ReplyDeleteSmart move.
DeleteNo brainer. George Warhop recommended. Just gotta prove he can stay on the field. I see him filling Feliciano's role and they draft one on day 2/3 to throw into the competition.
DeleteSo long as they get center addressed with a bona fide starter I'm good with that.
DeleteYou really think they go after a player like Dalman when they went and got his backup in Hennessy? As the roster is constructed right now I think he's the one with the best shot at beating out Brendel.
DeleteYep. As you said, they got his backup. I like Hennessy, but as a backup that can start if needed.
DeleteIf the idea is to let Brendel and Hennessy battle it out at centre then I think they need to upgrade LG.
This will be one of the more intriguing decisions I'm looking forward to.
DeleteYep.
DeleteJust my opinion, but I think if you want to have a good OL you need to have at least one elite player (Trent Williams, check) and two good players on the line. The other two can be average.
I think Puni could be one of the good players, but he needs to prove it over more than one year. The rest are average at best.
I agree with that.
Delete9er 2025 draft picks:
Delete* IOL Luke Kendra Cincinnati: 9er draft pick #139, can play both Center and OG.
* C Jake Majors, Texas: 9ers draft pick #189
ReplyDeleteZone CB's:
1. Jahdae Barron, Texas
2. Benjamin Morrison, ND
3. Maxwell Hairston, Kentucky
10 DL end up going in the 1st Round won't surprise me.
ReplyDeleteThe 49ers have the second best odds to sign Eagles All-Pro LB Zack Baun in free agency
ReplyDeleteRazor
DeleteThe talking heads believe the Rams have the best odds to sign free agent LB, Zack Baun.
* So Will Baun take a discount to stay with Vic Fangio and the Eagles, or will he take the money? If he takes the money:
* Spotract list his Market Value for 2 years at $19,493,748
(AVV $9,746,874).
* Spotrac lists Greenlaw's Market Value as a one year prove it
deal worth $6.650,025.
* So the question then is, will a team like the Rams
A) Ignore Greenlaws 2024 injuries and offer him a multi-year deal worth slightly less than Baun's Market value, or B) Will they sign Baun for Market Value?
* And what then, will the 9er do?
A) Get into a bidding war to sign either Green law or Baun?
B) Try to sign the free agent LB the other NFL does not sign?
* And if so, at what price?
Jeez, that would be a strange one. One good year behind the best DL in the NFL doesn't fill me with confidence he can replicate it elsewhere.
DeleteScooter
DeleteIt is an easy choice for me! We know what Greenlaw brings to the 9ers D when healthy. If he'll sign a one year prove it deal
for $6,650,025, I'd sign him.
The only question is, will he sign a one year deal for that amount?
Yep, Greenlaw + draft a guy would be my approach.
DeleteIf the 49ers want to draft as close to a sure thing as you can get. They should trade back 4 or 5 spots (if possible) and draft Bama OG Tyler Booker. I would love to see them sign Dalman and draft Booker. An O line of Williams, Booker, Dalman, Puni And McKivitz could lead to a running attack equal to 2019. Purdy's play action game could result in an MVP like season.
ReplyDeleteOldCoach
DeleteScouting Report weakness for Tyler Booker OG, Alabama:
* Footwork in run game needs refinement - Gets caught crossing his feet and loses power angles, especially when zone blocking.
* Shows concerning tendency to lean and lunge in run game - Leads to balance issues and defenders shedding blocks earlier than expected
* Lateral agility limitations show up prominently in space - Problematic when asked to reach block or work in zone schemes
Booker is best suited for a power scheme.
DeleteGold Helmet Designee's:
ReplyDelete1) CB Azareye’h Thomas, FSU
2) OL Marcus Mbow, Purdue
3) LB Chris Paul Jr., Ole Miss
4) DT Omarr Norman-Lott, Tennessee
Give me Thomas and Paul and I'll be happy.
DeletePaul reminds me of Al-Shaair.
Surprised to see Norman-Lott on that list.
Carson Schwesinger | 25.2% pass rush win rate - best of any LB drafted since 2015.
ReplyDeleteI like Schwesinger. He's a cerebral no nonsense player. But, his weight 219 lbs and speed 4.7, 40 give me pause. A player like Smael Mondon Jr., at 230 lbs and 4.5, 40 can really help to add the speed the defense needs. I also like the fact that he played at the top defensive minded Georgia U.
ReplyDeleteAES
DeleteI have the same problem with both Schwesinger and Chris Paul LB, Ole Mis. Both have undersized frames that shows up when taking on blocks directly - Can get overwhelmed by O-linemen climbing to the 2nd level.
* I have an even bigger problem with Schwesinger. He had
great stats for one year. But then look who he played against.
2022 and 2023 he was a reserve that played on ST.
2024, the year he put up great numbers, UCLA was 5W - 7L
This is who they played:
Wins:
Hawaii 16-13. Rutgers 35-32. Nebraska 27-20. Iowa 20-17
and Fresno St. 20-13
Lost:
Indiana 34-17. Oregon 34-13. Penn St. 27-11. Minnesota 21-17
Washington 31-19. USC 19-13.
Easier to put up good numbers when you play against inferior teams & players.
Paul plays the way the 49ers like their LBs to play.
DeleteIf not Paul, I'd go Nick Martin.
49ers play a style that's based on keeping the LBs free to fly to the football. Which is one of the reasons it's so important to have a good DL.
I agree with both of you guys re Schwesinger and Martin, but I really like Mondon's ability to quickly run from sideline to sideline.
DeleteScooter / AES
DeleteLooking forward to combine measurments for both Paul and Mondon.
* Some boards have Paul listed at 6'1" X 224 with 4.62s 40
and Mondon listed as 6'3" x 235 with a 4.46s 40.
The combine will clarify, plus measure 10-yard splits, 20-yard shuttle and three-cone drill,
49ers don't need big LBs. And while sub 4.5s speed is cool, it's also not a prerequisite for them.
DeleteWhat they do seem to value is tone setters that play like they're hair is on fire.
Chris Paul Jr and Nick Martin are 49er type LBs.
"Brandon Aiyuk is a player that a lot of teams had interest in before he signed that deal last year. Remember, he signed that four-year, $120 million deal. Some teams are poking around now to see if the 49ers would be willing to deal Aiyuk." — Dianna Russini
ReplyDeleteTyler Baron, Edge, Miami finished the season with the 2nd best Pressure Rate in the country (per PFF College, min 250 snaps), generating a pressure on 20+% of his pass rush snaps, only behind his former teammate James Pearce at Tennessee.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely another edge guy to be keeping an eye on.
DeleteRazor
ReplyDeleteWhat round do you have him being drafted? I'm seeing from late 3Rd Rd to mid 5Th Rd.
I've got him in that 3rd Round sweet spot for Edge rushers.
DeleteSome guys I am keen to see how they test:
ReplyDelete- Nic Scourton - if he tests above average for the position, at his size, I might start thinking he could be a legitimate option at 11. Unlike other big athletic ends like Stewart and Williams, his tape is pretty good.
- Tre Harris - not really a guy I think the 49ers will be interested in, but if he runs 4.5 or under and has good explosive drills, I think he'll move into the first round. True X.
- Nick Martin - if his knee is all good, and he tests really well, people will start remembering how dominant he was in 2023.
- TJ Sanders - his size will concern some, so he needs to show he makes up for it with elite athletic traits if he wants to be top 50. Definitely a guy I have my eye on at pick 43.
- Jalon Walker - being moved all over the front 7 means he's far less refined than I am comfortable with at 11, but if he tests out of this world I would consider him at 11. High character leader as well.
Scooter,
ReplyDeleteAthleticism, production, and good character have become the qualities that many teams look for, and for good reason.
Yep, for sure.
DeleteBrian Griese out as QB's coach. Mick Lombardi in.
ReplyDeleteAn odd one. Wonder what's gone on behind the scenes there?
DeleteFor one, we know that Griese wasn't keen on devoting the amount of time coaching demands. Is there more to it than that? I don't know.
DeleteIf you recall the Niners had to give Griese a raise to get him to stay on and coach. He never had any aspirations to devote anymore time than qb's coach entailed and I'm guessing he'd had his fill of coaching. I'd be surprised if theres anymore to it than that.
ReplyDeleteBreaking News: Jake Lynch, son of 49ers GM John Lynch, was hired by the team as Defensive Quality Control Coach.
ReplyDeleteGrowing consensus out of the combine:
ReplyDelete1. Titans - EDGE Abdul Carter
2. Browns - QB Cam Ward
3. Giants - CB/WR Travis Hunter
Apparently the early combine buzz is that the 49ers are interested in FA safeties, in particular Justin Reid.
ReplyDeleteGood idea.
Delete👀 Tony Pauline on Trey Hendrickson:
ReplyDelete“Sources tell me that if the Bengals can’t meet his asking price, there’s a very good chance the team will part ways with Hendrickson and trade him.”
Texas A&M EDGE Nic Scourton and Tennessee EDGE James Pearce have met with the 49ers at the NFL Combine.
ReplyDeleteOSU EDGE Collin Oliver can play.
ReplyDeleteThe #Titans have granted permission to former Pro Bowl OLB Harold Landry to seek a trade, per
ReplyDelete@AdamSchefter
. Landry, just 28 years old, has two years remaining on his contract but none of it is guaranteed.
When scouting these edge rushers one must keep in mind that a pass rusher without a plan is like an artist without inspiration.
ReplyDeleteTrey Amos, CB, Ole Miss allowed a 54.5 passer rating in 2024 with 10 PBUs and 3 picks.
