Its going to be interesting to see if they pick anyone up tomorrow. Who is the swing OT before TW signs. If I were the king of the forest, I would trade BA for draft picks and sign TW tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteRazor,
ReplyDeleteInteresting stat in that Juice didn't play at all.

Tay Martin signing with #49ers practice squad per a league source @KPRC2
I assume Williams gets his deal....... Aiyuk at this point may be 50/50.....
ReplyDeleteBakhtiari anyone tho? How was Brandon Parker through the pre-season? I thought Moore played well last year, when needed....
Bakhtiari is the last option if TW holds out. But I don't know if he can learn this offense in time for the season.
DeleteMoore didn't look good vs Saints starters.
LB Jalen Graham to Commanders
ReplyDeleteOL Jarrett Kingston to Panthers
RB Cody Schrader to Rams
CB Samuel Womack to Colts
Sorry we had to part with all of them. To me Kingston might be the hardest loss.
DeleteThe freakin' Vultures! :(
DeleteSchrader to Rams is a dagger. Kingston gave up just 1 pressure in the preseason. Both will be missed.
Losing Kingston sucks.
ReplyDeleteSure does. Honestly thought he looked good enough to stick on the 53 this year.
DeleteBut... end of the day he's a late round draft pick and chances are he's not about to become a star for someone else.
OL Isaac Alarcon*
ReplyDeleteDL Evan Anderson
DL Alex Barrett
DL Jonathan Garvin
OL Sebastian Gutierrez
CB Chase Lucas
S Jaylen Mahoney
WR Tay Martin
DL T.Y. McGill Jr.
QB Tanner Mordecai
OL Drake Nugent
TE Mason Pline
WR Trent Taylor
S Tracy Walker III
TE Brayden Willis
Nice! Glad that we got Mordecai, Mahoney, Anderson, Nugent, Willis and Pline.
DeleteThese rookies and Willis have upside.
Even though Latu is a lost cause, we got Tonges and Pline who look the part and might well be the future at TE.
Another WR: #49ers signing Terrace Marshall to their practice squad
DeleteThe highest-graded WR on go routes in 2022 - 97.1 🤧 Terrace Marshall.
ReplyDeleteThat's a great stat.
DeleteI think the coaches and Front Office view him as an upgrade over Danny Gray.
This year on the PS, his primary function will be on Scout team to simulate speedy WRs that we will see every week like Xavier Worthy, DK Metcalf etc.
The #49ers will sign OL Ben Bartch and CB Rock Ya-Sin to the 53 man roster.
ReplyDeleteI like bringing Ya-Sin back.
DeleteAm I missing something? I thought they only put two additional people on IR after being on the initial 53 (Thomas and Feliciano), but also brought Saubert back... who else did they put on IR? Hufanga?
Anonymous,
DeleteThey waived Sam Okuayinonu.
I think he will clear waivers and they have one open spot on the PS for him.
Thanks Mugeek. That was from me - not sure why it came up as not signed in.
DeleteRe Terrace Marshall:
ReplyDeleteCan anyone comment on why Marshall, who was waived, fell to us in the pecking order? Injuries? Maturity? Character? Work ethic?
Not really sure, George but he'll be in the best situation he's been in since coming into the league. If he wants it, it's there for the taking.
DeleteGeorge,
DeleteCheck this out... Looks like Marshall wanted to move and was granted a trade request last year, but could not get it done. Word on the street is that he was bad-mouthed by panthers org, which is a terrible place to be.

I'm looking forward to hearing him talk to the sportswriters. Hope he isn't a kook and has come to be a Niner. I'm assuming they'd be able send him on go routes, and that would be quite a sight when Brock hits him in stride.
DeleteIt seems obvious to me that BAs holdout has less to do with money and more to do with not wanting to play for the 9ers any more. They need cap room to sign TW, why not trade BA for draft picks and sign TW immediately. He is going to be a locker room cancer whether he gets the contract he wants or not. imho
ReplyDeleteNot sure what they can get for him in exchange now. Who would want him other than Washington? Might be better to pay him the $14 million and tell him to take a hike for the season, then tag and trade him next year. With his attitude, I suppose we'd have the same problem then. Wonder if they can make a deal with the Raiders for Adams.
DeleteAiyuk cannot practice w/out a new deal or insurance... but it appears the 49ers patience is taxed.... if it doesn't get resolved today/tomorrow, I won't be optimistic, and if I were 49ers, I would draw a line in the sand- he had options, and turned them down (Browns/Pats).
DeleteI think the problem with Aiyuk is that he wants his cake and to eat it also. The Niners set up a number of trades all of which Aiyuk turned down so it's obvious that he doesn't want out of the Niners organization. He just values himself higher than the niners do. Now he is going to be facing some heavy fines for not showing up. The true test of wills is coming to a head pretty quickly.
DeleteDiptown, Aiyuk is currently under contract and doesn't need a new one to practice or play in games.
My point of him not practicing on a new deal is his valuation- tremendous gap between $14 and $28ish should he sustain a serious injury.... I don't see him practicing. That said, quite the game of poker going on w Paraag/John and Brandon/agent
DeleteOn Marshall, I found a Jackson Krueger video analysis of him at the start of his first year as a Panther:

Aiyuk-49ers saga hits inflection point as ‘hold-in' persists....
ReplyDeletehttps://sports.yahoo.com/aiyuk-49ers-saga-hits-inflection-231914908.html
* Despite suggestions that this was the day that Aiyuk would end his “hold in,” nothing changed when the 49ers took the practice field.
General manager John Lynch made it known that the expectation was that Aiyuk would practice because the 49ers medical staff cleared him.
* Earlier in the day, Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network reported that there was an “understanding” that Aiyuk would practice.
Now, it looks as if the 49ers are ready to play hardball.
* “At some point you got to play,” Lynch said on Wednesday.
I believe that the 49ers have been more than patient with Aiyuk during this process. The 49ers were ready to pull the trigger on a trade deal with the Browns, but they respected Aiyuk's request not wanting to go to Cleveland. Cleveland had Amari Cooper and several draft picks on the table for BA. Personally speaking, it's time for the 49ers to stop throwing marshmallows and play hardball. Go get the best return for Aiyuk no matter which team it is at this point.
ReplyDeleteAES,
DeleteThe 49ers won't get anything more than a 4th or 5th round pick if BA won't sign a contract extension with the new team. For all intent and purpose he has a no trade contract.
Coach
DeleteThe Browns deal of Amari Cooper and drafts picks were reportedly on the table. That's starting to look pretty good given Aiyuk's hard stance. I believe that the 49ers still hold the cards in this process and will either let BA lose money while continuing his hold-in or look for a team to put a very sensible deal on the table. At this point, I would like to see the 49ers put all their efforts on Trent Williams and let BA rackup
fines.
AES,
DeleteHe signed now on to TW
I just saw that. Let's go get Trent now.
DeleteCoach,
DeleteI just caught that. I agree, let's go get Trent.
Aiyuk and Trent signed a contract. Gave their word and now they've broken that trust. I don't like them. I don't want them on our team. I don't care if it jeopardizes our Super Bowl chances. So what.
ReplyDeleteNone of you would put up with such behavior. If Trent wanted to be the highest paid tackle in perpetuity, he should have negotiated an escalator clause in his contract. I haven't been so pissed since we had Culliver and McDonald and a few other thugs on the team whom I wished we would have cut/traded even it it would have weakened the team. My children are adults, so at least I don't have to explain why no one admonishes Aiyuk and Trent for their behavior.
I agree Lee!
DeleteCost to Aiyuk to miss practices and games:
ReplyDelete"According to Spotrac, Aiyuk will be subject to a $40,000 fine for each unexcused absence he has from practice. General manager John Lynch told reporters in a press conference Wednesday that team doctors had cleared Aiyuk from the back injury that pushed him out of training camp sessions.
That would seem to indicate any further absence won’t be excused. If that’s the case, he’s up to $80,000 in fines for Wednesday and Thursday.
Things get even more expensive if his hold-in lasts into the regular season. He’s due to forfeit 1/18th of his $14.12 million salary for every game he misses. That equates to $784,666.67 per game.
Doing some quick math, if Aiyuk misses all three practices leading up to Week 1, and then misses Week 1, he will be out $904,666.67 for the week. That number repeats every week the hold-in lasts."

Geo,
DeleteIt wouldn't surprise me if BAs next move is for him to file a grievance with the union. He says his back is injured the team says it isn't. The same thing happened with Patrick Ramsey (I think it was Ramsey) a couple of years ago. He won his grievance sat the first 7 or 8 games and got paid, got traded and miracle of all miracles his back healed and he played in the first game with his new team.
Well its all over now with Aiyuk as they are signing a contract for 120 million for 4 years. I hope he has been keeping in shape and will be ready to go for the jets game.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Lee Graying that I am very disappointed in the behavior of both Aiyuk and Trent, but business is business and the team needs to swallow hard sometimes.
