  1. Well okay but more importantly is Trent Williams.

  2. Looks like BA caved. The deal he took has been on the table since Aug. 10. Now the more important contract TW

  3. Well at least that's one over and done with.

  4. I wonder how long the team will continue to hold 7 WRs on the 53 now? I think as soon as they feel confident BA is good to play, Bell will get released. Probably happen towards the end of a week to maximise likelihood of passing through waivers.

I agree, Bell is likely the WR to get released. The only thing that
may prevent that, is Pearsall's lingering shoulder injury and can
      he stay healthy?

OK, so I'm glad Aiyuk finally got his bag and signed the contract thats been sitting there for a couple of weeks! Has he been playing head games? Did he just not feel like practicing in the heat? We may never know, but now it is time to get his butt in gear and practice!
That new four-year, $120 million contract extension with $76 million in guarantees, comes with big EXPECTATIONS! And after his "HOLD-IN" is his conditioning in football shape? Will he have a down season, as both Deebo and Bosa did? Will he feel the pressure to live up to the new contract? TBD! But if his play does NOT meet expectations, there will be questions asked about is he worth the $120 million?
Welcome back Aiyuk, hope you enjoy your new contract $$$$.....
Now it is SUPER BOWL OR BUST!

Question: Option Bonus 2025 and 2026. What are the requirements that Aiyuk must meet to to earn the bonus money, if you know?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Nothing really, GEEP. Just remain on the roster when the option trigger date to become fully guaranteed is reached. Option bonus is basically a signing bonus that occurs at a later date. Isn't based on performance.

The first one (2025) is fully guaranteed at signing (or at least most of it), while the second one (2026) fully guarantees April next year.

  8. 2026 is when the 49ers can get out of the deal if they so choose to.

  9. QUESTION FOR THE BLOG:
    * Should the 9ers look at adding free agent(s) Center Mason Cole and OT David Bakhtiari to the PS?

    ReplyDelete
  10. I assume Bakhtiari won't sign unless he is likely walking into a starting gig- his legacy established that....... provided he is healthy.

"provided he is healthy." That is the question!
      * David Bakhtiari's past few seasons have been marked by setbacks to his left knee, but after his fifth surgical procedure to that knee, the OLT is optimistic about continuing his career.
      * Bakhtiari said in an interview on "The Adam Schefter Podcast" that he's "really happy" with the progress from his latest surgery, a major procedure that took place in Nov. so much so that he hopes to play another couple of years.
Bakhtiari, 32, said that there's been interest from teams but that he wants to make sure "there's no question marks" before he signs with a team. He said he's ahead of schedule but still needs to clear a couple more hurdles before he is comfortable returning to the field. A realistic timetable for signing with a team could be just before training camp next month, in the middle of the preseason in August or in the beginning of the season in September, Bakhtiari said.
      * Due to his left knee and his age (32 y/o), Bakhtiari will have to prove he's still capable of playing OT in the NFL and get, IMO, paid on a PROVE IT deal. ($2.5 - $3.0 MIL P/Y)?

  11. Titans rookie OT JC Latham talks about the time he spent training with Trent Williams this summer:

“Just seeing how hard he was getting after it, one of the exercises was a superset with pull-ups. It was 4 sets of 10 and in my head I’m like, 'I’m 350, he’s probably like 340, 335 or whatever he is, ain’t no way he’s doing 10 pull-ups for 4 sets', and he just got up there and got after it. That’s a freak of nature right there.”

  12. A couple of years ago, I said that TW probably had 2-3 yrs left to play. I was wrong. Trent can likely play another 4yrs of solid football. He IS a freak of nature and there is no one out there who can replace.

    1. My biggest concern isn't whether he can play for a few more years, but whether he wants to.

I get why TW is holding out for more money, but at the same time it is a big risk to give him any sort of long term deal. Because as soon as he retires, any pro-rated bonus money due to be accounted against the cap in future years gets accelerated forward.

Structure of the deal becomes important at his age to protect both player and club.

    2. Scooter,
I think contract structure is why the negotiation is taking so long. I bet they settled on the amount weeks ago but the 49ers are trying to structure the contract so it will be as pain free as possible in the long run.

  13. I wonder if the 49ers and TW are negotiating this Holiday weekend? At this point in the year it seems like they should be.

UPDATE: 49ers WR Ricky Pearsall is stable and gave report to police. He was shot through his arm. It’s called a through and through.

Suspect *appears* to be shot through chest.

  17. Now it looks like he was shot in the chest.

But there is also video out there showing him walking to the ambulance under his own power. So, hoping for the best.

  18. Really sad to hear this. The original report was he was shot in the chest. Now they say it was an arm and Deebo tweeted Ricky’s ok. But no news about the damage. Even assuming it’s minor I would assume he’ll be out for some time.

    1. 49ers put out a statement that it was the chest. Serious but stable condition.

    2. But as I read more, the team's statement may have been based on old information. So, not clear.

  19. Lombardi showed a video with RP holding a towel on his right chest as he walks to an ambulance. Wow, this is crazy. Hoping for a full recovery. Definitely, not the San Francisco I lived in 30 yrs ago.

  21. RP’s mom says it was the chest but no vital organs were hit and bullet passed through.

  22. Suspect is 17 yo from Tracy...... about 1.25 hrs away from SF

  23. I’m of the belief that we put too many people in prison, but anyone who try’s to take another’s life or any other serious violence should never be allowed back into society.
