Good afternoon everyone and welcome to the 49ers gameday live blog. Today the 49ers get a visit from Pete Carroll's Seattle Seahawks who are struggling to remain relevant. Their starting quarterback, Geno Smith is a game time decision and their backup, Drew Lock will likely get the start. The 49ers have an opportunity to do something they've never done today, A. Win 5 straight against the Seahawks, B. Give Pete 4 straight losses in a season, C. Obtain the number 1 seed, (with a Cowboys win), and D. Ruin the Seahawks playoff dreams. Not sure if Wilks will mirror Ward on Metcalf again but it wouldn't surprise me. I'd expect Seattle to maybe move Metcalf around more if that's the case. Seattle will have both their running backs in this game, while the 49ers will be without Mitchell. Mason should get some carries in this game to spell CMC. The 49ers will be without Arik Armstead which means, Kinlaw will get the start, while, Khalia Davis sees more reps. I don't anticipate a "trap" game for San Francisco due to their early lesson after the Cowboys game, plus their Super Bowl or bust mentality. Stay focused and disciplined are the keys to winning this game. Seattle does come into this game with more rest. With that being said, it's 49ers 27, Seattle 17. Go Niners!
#49ers inactives:
QB Brandon Allen (3rd QB)
DT Arik Armstead
G Spencer Burford
RB Elijah Mitchell
TE Ross Dwelley
CB Darrell Luter
DE Robert Beal Jr.
The spread has gone from 10.5 earlier in the week to 13.5 this Morn. As I have said before I don't bet against my team but if I did 13.5 would be hard to pass up.
ReplyDeleteLocke no Smith I guess I wouldn't take the points
DeleteWILL BP JOIN MONTANA IN NFL RECORD BOOK VS SEATTLE TODAY?
ReplyDelete* BP has 6 consecutive games with a completion percentage of 70 or higher! He can become the 4th QB in NFL history with a completion of 70 % or higher, in 7 consecutive games in a season today against Seattle. He would join Sam Bradford (7), Drew Brees (7) and Pro Football Hall of Fame QB legend, Joe Montana (8).
* BP has completed 70.2% of his passes this season for 3,185 yards, 23 TD's and a 116.1 passer rating, leading the NFL in completion % and passer ratings.
* Through 12 games, Purdy also leads the NFL in TD % (6.9), yards per attempt (9.6) and yards gained per completion (13.7)
* Purdy has four games this season with 3 or more TD passes and a passer rating of 140 or higher, Tying Brady and Rodgers for the most such games in a single season in NFL history!
*Since taking over as starter in 2022, Purdy has a 14-3 record and has been breaking franchise and league records ever since, while making a STRONG CASE FOR THIS SEASON'S NFL MVP AWARD!
It's Drew Lock for the Hawks.
ReplyDeleteSince coming into the league in 2019, Drew Lock has a passer rating of just 37.0 when under pressure, worst of any QBs over the last five years (min. 100 dropbacks under pressure).
DeleteSince coming into the league in 2019, Drew Lock has completed just 41.4% of his attempts of 10+ yards downfield, lowest of any QB over the last five years (min. 200 attempts).
DeleteWell that didn't take long. Really good blocking.
ReplyDeleteWard out. Can I change my bet?
ReplyDelete'Hawks are desperate.....have a bad feeling about this one. Need pass rush to get home.
ReplyDeleteNah, the 49ers will win this football game. Can't be a blowout all the time.
ReplyDeleteGood call Razer. :)
DeleteVery gritty game! I think this game was as important as the Eagles game last week.
ReplyDeletePurdy just keeps passing tests every game. 7th straight game with 70% completion. 4th QB to do that.
All we need now is an Eagles loss.
Good tough game against Seattle, but the 9er defense definitely missed CB C. Ward.
ReplyDeleteWe'll likely be ok without him against Arizona next week, but hopefully his groin injury will be ok against Baltimore week 16.
9ers did their part and beat Seattle! Now if the cowgirls can beat the Eagles and give the 9ers HOME FIELD ADVANTAGE for the playoffs!
ReplyDeleteJason Verrett agreeing to terms and will be on the practice squad.
ReplyDeleteWay to go Dallas! Dallas leading the Eagles 24 to 6 at halftime
ReplyDeleteNiners will have the number one seed after tonight. Good deal.
ReplyDeleteAll of these injuries on D are really worrying me, not next week but in 2 weeks versus Balt.
ReplyDeleteBrock Purdy has now 7 straight games completing 70% or more of his passes. The last player to do it in 8 straight games was Joe Montana.
ReplyDeletePurdy is having an elite season, it won't be long before he is recognized as one of the best to play the game.
DeleteHighest Pass Rating in NFL history
Delete(min. 500 attempts)
Brock Purdy 113.8
Patrick Mahomes 103.9
Aaron Rodgers 103.6
UC,
DeleteTo be considered one of the best to ever play the game a player must have longevity. Just ask Gregg Cook
Brock Purdy is currently averaging 9.896 yards per pass attempt. If the season ended today, according to PFRef, that would be the highest of any qualifying QB in 67 YEARS.
DeleteAnother great game by the 49ers. Deebo was his usual dominating self. CMC, was running through holes opened up by the KA (kick-arse) Oline. Purdy continues to light it up.
ReplyDeleteHe definitely has made a strong push for POY.
I'll take one game at a time. But
(for me), it's SB win or busts. The 49ers are making a very strong case for being the best team in the NFL. I may be presumptuous, but the best team is expected to be the eventual Superbowl Champion.
Current odds to win Super Bowl 58:
Delete49ers: +250
Dolphins: +600
Ravens: +650
Eagles: +650
Top run blocking grades by WRs in Week 14:
ReplyDelete1. Deebo Samuel 90.3
2. Brandon Aiyuk 89.6
That is a stat that you love to see....players being unselfish and blocking for one another.
DeleteThis bunch is destined for great things!
Single season yards per attempt leaders:
ReplyDeleteSid Luckman 10.9 (1943)
Otto Graham 10.6 (1953)
Otto Graham 10.2 (1947)
Norm Van Brocklin 10.1 (1954)
Ed Brown 9.9 (1956)
Brock Purdy 9.9 (2023)
Kurt Warner 9.9 (2000)
Otto Graham 9.8 (1949)
Many of the above QBs pre-date the Superbowl era. But they won championships in their era.
ReplyDeleteChampionships:
Sid Luckman, 4.
Otto Graham, 3.
Norm Van Brocklin, 1.
Kurt Warner, 1.
Championships are where legends are made. Hopefully, Brock can work his way into this group.
Just a heads up on Levi's........ the stadium atmosphere has really improved over the last couple of years- sadly, 49ers have also noticed and have bumped our prices for consecutive years.
ReplyDeleteGo Seattle!
Constructing a Super Bowl roster is expensive. Gotta pay if you wanna play!
DeleteTotally agree- AND, they hadn't bumped prices for the first 5 yrs of the new stadium........... I suspect the 49ers will have a very nice 3 yr window- and the price is worth it.
Delete9er LB Warner has 4 games to set a 9ers single-season record.
ReplyDeleteWith his 4th int of the year, in the 9ers 28-16 win over the Seattle on Sunday, Warner tied the single-season 9er record for most picks by a non-DB. Along with Warner, former 9ers LB's J. Fahnhorst, K.Turner and F. Nunley each had 4 int's for a single season.
Frank Nunley the Fudge Hammer one of my favorites
DeleteTop 10 49ers LBs of all time
Delete#1Dave Wilcox
#2 Patrick Willis
#3 Fred Warner
#4 Navorro Bowman
#5 Dre Greenlaw
#6 Keena Turner
#7Willie Harper
#8 Skip Vanderbundt
#9 Hardy Brown
#10 Frank Nunley
Do I have them in the wrong order? Did I leave anyone out?
Coach,
DeleteHardy Brown was before my time. But, after watching some old video of him, he became a fan. This guy would have been banned from playing football in today's NFL.
I, (not he) became a fan.
DeleteCMC joins elite company after epic showing in 49ers' win vs. Seahawks
ReplyDeleteMcCaffrey eclipsed the 10,000 career scrimmage-yards mark against Seattle, passing the prestigious milestone in just his 88th career game. That made him just the 7th player in NFL history to record 10,000 scrimmage yards and 75-or-more TD's in the first 90 games of their career.
The only other players to accomplish that feat are Pro Football Hall of Famers Jim Brown, Eric Dickerson, Emmitt Smith, LaDainian Tomlinson and likely a soon-to-be Hall of Famer in Adrian Peterson.
GEEP,
ReplyDeleteGood looking out regarding CMCs efforts. He's also the 1st 49ers RB to equal 1k yards since the great Frank Gore. Again, good looking out.
