Gameday Week 12: 49ers vs. Seahawks

Happy Thanksgiving everyone. Hope you had a wonderful day and ready to enjoy this live blog for 49ers football. Tonight we have a divisional matchup between two teams that hate each other. The winner will control their own destiny on their way to a divisional title. Both teams come into this game with key injuries. For the 49ers, both starting guards are questionable and of course their starting SS is out for the year with an ACL. For the Seahawks, Geno Smith is questionable and Reed(S), Walker(RB), Young(WR), and Lucas(OT) are all out or listed as doubtful. Shanny should employ a lateral running game to make their defensive line run sideline to sideline and soften up the middle of the field to mixup some runs inside. I expect Kittle to have a big day matched up against Adams because he can't cover him. Avoid the false starts and holding penalties, stop the Seahawks rushing attack forcing the game into Geno's hands and the 49ers should win this game handily. 27-10 Go Niners!

  2. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
Hope the interior of the Niners' O line can hold up well against Jarran Reed and company.
Niners should win by 2 scores.

  3. Darrell Luter Jr saved 4 points on the ST tackle.

Worried about Thursday night games...short week...injuries.

  4. Game over at half time. Niners dominate first half.

  5. I love beating Pete Carroll and his scrappy little Seahawks.

  6. Ambry Thomas is looking great. I never thought he would. I remember many criticizing the drafting of Wishnowski, looks like a pretty damn good pick now. I think he is the best punter in football.

    1. Thomas came into the league a year behind due to covid. I think Wilks has fine tuned him. I never doubted the Wishnowsky pick. Hopefully Moody develops into one of the best kickers in the league too.

  7. Wonderful game... Good little comeback from Purdy. First pick-6, small adversity, nicely overcome. Great memories made for this golden generation of 49ers....eating Turkey, payback for the Harbaugh Team.

I'm glad that there were no significant injuries. Need to rest up on this minibye and work on a good Eagles game plan. I think Eagles are the better team, but on our day, we can hang with anyone.

This will probably be the game of the year for us, the ramifications on the 1st round bye are so great!

  8. I wanna punch Siriani in the face everytime I see it but I'll take a win in Philly just the same.

  9. Bummer....just heard George Odum has torn biceps... probably season ending. Prayers Up!

Our fragile ST is gonna suffer.

    1. Niners will be looking to add a safety...

    2. Taylor Hawkins is on the PS. Knows the scheme, can promote him to 53, after releasing Ben Bartch.

But for sure need a vet safety on the PS. We have lost 2 safeties in 2 weeks now.

  10. Niners are now 44-6 under Kyle when they run the ball 30+ times.

So happy to see the Niners get the Turkey Payback -- remember the Seahawks eating turkey at Levi's like it was yesterday.

    1. So what comes first, the chicken or the egg? Do the Niners win because they run the ball 30 times or do they run the ball 30 times because they have a big lead and are trying to take time off the clock?

    2. With Jimmy G it was often the former. With Brock, it's more the latter.

    3. It’s enough of the later to make the correlation of 30 runs to wins, weak.

    4. It's a strong correlation regardless. But same can be said for most teams.

With Brock at QB, it has definitely been more a case of keeping a nice balance to set up plays and taking what the defence gives them. The high rush totals are more a result of time of possession and an offense that's rolling.

With JG there were definitely periods where the offense got in a funk and they almost needed to abandon the pass. Commit to running the ball early and often to wear opponents down to win games.

    5. It’s more correlation than it is causation. Some people think the goal should be to run the ball 30 times but every game is different. Lots of factors determine the amount of runs in every game.

  11. Niners haven't lost a Division game since the NFC Championship against the Rams two seasons ago.

  12. Another really good team performance.

Defence looks to be back to its best with the pass rush re-emerging.

Wasn't Purdy's best game, but he was still efficient and had the big play to seal it. Running game was dominant.

This win and current intra-division record means the 49ers are now very much in control of the NFC West (would also win a tie-breaker againstthe Seahawks).

They now get some extra time to rest and prepare before facing the Eagles to stay in the fight for the #1 seed, which is nice. Hopefully the Bills can do the 49ers a favour this Sunday as well.

  13. Let's hope Buffalo can get their aerial assault back and play their physical defense on Sunday ..... will be curious to see how well Niner Nation shows up next week

  14. Another nice win, the defense played lights out and the offense didn't look bad either. That throw to Aiyuk for the last score was just outstanding.

  15. I wasn't aware the 9ers had activated Womack. I wonder with the addition of Womack and Luter and the recent play of A. Thomas whether the 9ers will release I. Oliver? Next weeks game with the Eagles should go a long way towards answering any doubts people may still have with BP.
