Good afternoon everyone and welcome to the live blog for 49ers football. It's Fred Warner's birthday and I'm sure he'd like nothing better than a win. To do that he'll need his defense to shut down those screens. Tampa has no running game but they use the long handoffs to compensate. They've been force feeding the ball to Evans and Baker hasn't been turning the ball over. He has a qbr of 82.6 against man coverage, while 48.8 against zone. The Bucs defense ranks 8th in points allowed due to their takeaways and redzone efficiency, which ranks number one at 32% on giving up TD's. They also are blitz happy and rank 3rd highest in that category. Winfield Jr. is the player the 49ers need to look out for. He's flying around getting the ball out and taking it away. Ryan Neal(SS) is the player the 49ers should look to target as he's allowed 4 TD's, 20/23 for 387 yards. If the 49ers can finish drives and protect the football they should win this game handily. 34-10 San Francisco. Go Niners!
49ers Inactives:
Is there anyone left that doesn't think Brock "The Ripper" Purdy isn't the franchise?
ReplyDeleteHe sure looked good once again.
DeleteSome people will question him until he wins the big one. Heck, even then some people will probably say it was Shanahan or his supporting cast.
DeleteBut for me, he's the real deal. I stopped questioning him around week 4.
For anyone not believing he is playing at an elite level, they must be blind. It’s not just the stats that prove it, but also just watching him play.

DeleteThe next 3 weeks should help answer to that question....
* After a short 4 day week, the 9ers play Thursday night against Seattle at Seattle, then the Eagles at Philly and Seattle again at Levi's.
* Win those 3 games and the 9ers should win the NFC West
and have a good chance of having home field advantage in the playoffs and getting to the SB!
* IMO, If the 9ers Split with Seattle and lose to the Eagles, It will be difficult to make that argument!
Great game from Purdy. And he's doing all the things that is required to become a franchise QB. But these are the 49ers. Which mean (no fault of his own), there are more hurdles to climb.
DeleteI'll just leave it at that.
Great game today!
The Rams, clip the Seahawks wings 17 - 16
ReplyDeleteIt was a fun game to watch. Purdy and Warner were both great as usual. Tampa Bay fought hard and it was a good win.
ReplyDeleteKS indicated the 9er are bracing for bad news. A possible ACL injury could end Hufanga's 2023 season!
ReplyDeleteHufanga will have further tests on his knee on Monday morning
Ji'ayr Brown did the 49ers and himself proud today.
ReplyDeleteNice game from the rookie.
Brock Purdy of the @49ers has a passer rating of 157.3 over his last 2 starts.
ReplyDeleteThat's the highest passer rating by any NFL QB over a 2-start span since QB starts were first tracked in 1950.
Heck of a game from Purdy. I know that with Jimmy, we would have lost that game because Jimmy (for all that I appreciate from him), would have made a couple of mistakes.
ReplyDeleteI love everything from Purdy so far. The Intangibles, Processing, Leadership, Humility....list goes on. Nice bounce back after adversity..... All that we need to see now from the Kid is a 4th quarter comeback, down by two scores.
Short week at Seattle is gonna be an excellent game. Caroll will bring the fight and 'Hawks have a better Secondary than Tampa. We better be prepared...to eat Turkey at Midfield.
Sad for Huff.
Mug,
DeleteI haven't heard any official announcement on Huff's injury. Did you receive recent news?
David Lombardi is reporting that Hufanga has a torn ACL, and season is over.
ReplyDeleteFeel bad for him. Probably guarantees he's resigned at a discount. I listened to Brown when he was mic'd up and the kid is fiery. Talking shit to the starters and challenging them. He also was a ball hawk at Penn St. having intercepted a whopping 10 passes in 2 years.
DeleteRazor,
ReplyDeleteThe kid made at least three very good plays at that most opportune moments.
I wish him luck because he will be targeted and challenged going forward.
AES
ReplyDelete* 2 or 3 more INT's will put an end to other teams targeting him! And as you pointed out, "The kid made at least three very good plays at that most opportune moments."
* If his mind set is, "getting targeted is an opportunity to get an INT"
it won't take long for opposing QB's to look to exploit another 9er DB!
GEEP,
DeleteI hope that's the case. We'll find out soon enough. Petey's team always play the 49ers tough. I expect a close on Thursday.
close "game"
Delete#49ers are last in passing attempts(278) yet 8th in passing yards(2669)
ReplyDeleteHufanga's slow, can't cover, and often goes for a kill-shot instead of wrapping up. Brown could potentially be way better by the end of the season. I write "way better" because I'm sure there's much of the mental game that he'll have to learn to mesh with the defense, but physically, I prefer him now. I was impressed how he ran down the receiver who had beaten him on his first play.
ReplyDeleteAlso stoked to watch Armstead the last couple games.
