Gameday Week 10: 49ers vs. Jaguars

Good afternoon everyone and welcome to the gameday blog for 49ers football. Today the 49ers find themselves coming out of their bye week riding a 3 game skid. They'll look to turn things around against the Jaguars who are coming out of their bye with a league leading 5 game winning streak. For the 49ers they get back Deebo Samuel and possibly Trent Williams. It may not be new or sexy but in order for the 49ers to win this game they'll need to stop the run and run the ball. They were a top run stopping defense last year and have dropped to ranking in the 20's so far this year. DC Wilks will be on the sidelines for the  first time this year hoping to correct some communication breakdowns. Should be an interesting matchup and a big challenge for the 49ers. This game seems like a nail biter with the Niners coming out on top 24-20. Go Niners!

  3. Excellent half from both Offense and Defense. Couple of plays could have gone either way, but we are ahead for now.

Very important to come out of the half and get 7 and ice this game

  4. Couple of great plays from Brock, bailing us out. This is not sustainable

Run the ball with Mason....KS. We should be up like 40 points the way the D has played.

  6. What a statement game. Take a bow Wilks and the D. What a performance under pressure.

Offense was good but scope for improvement. Purdy was good in the 1st half, but some of his balls could have gone either way. But he was clinical in the 2nd half. He looked like the better QB.

KS....Terrific first drive play calling to both to start and after the half. Only blemish....I still don't understand why Jordan Mason doesn't get any carries. Is he in the doghouse?

All in all, great start to second half. Just sustain it.

  7. I admit that I thought it was easier to see a game from the booth and make adjustments. Still think it is, but Maiocco just pointed out that when Wilks is on the sideline, it is easier for guys like Warner to go to him and make suggestions, observations, etc.

    1. Wilks as the parent you want to please as a player I thought was a good analogy.

  8. Lots of things to like by the 9ers, but the damn P E N A L T I E S have to be eliminated....Especially when it eliminates a TD!

    1. Yes....Dee Winters was the first guy on the field of play, during that play

To start with I would like to see Dee Winters Inactive next week and Jalen Graham active.

  9. I don't think there will be any consequences for any one running on the field in that KS was one of those who drew the flag.

  11. WOW the 9ers get a big win and nobody has anything to say? Rumor is T Williams won't play this week Vs. TB. 9ers want to give him better than a full week off before Phil on T-giving. They should handle TB without Williams but I feel so much better when he is on the field. I hope S. Womack has enough practice under his belt to step into the NB spot for the Eagles. Leave Lenoir outside he is much better there. imho

    1. Brock Purdy's 91.7 overall grade yesterday was a career high
Purdy is #1 in QBR behind an offensive line that ranks #22 in pass-block win rate

Womack isn't a good enough tackler to play NB. Thomas may have come into his own under, Wilks. He's got 4.0 speed and is a better man corner. Lenoir is their best bet at NB if Thomas continues to play well.

  12. Razor,
If Thomas continues to play well everything is all good. I just think that is a huge if. It scares the hell out of me thinking about Thomas against the Eagles. I know that Womack doesn't play the run well from the inside but I believe that he covers well at the NB and Lenoir covers better on the boundary than he does inside. Lets see how Thomas looks next week. Making my annual trek to a 9er game this week. I am jacked
