Welcome everyone to the 49ers live blog. It was a long, dramatic offseason but we finally made it. The 49ers come into this season with one of the best rosters in the NFL, and they're going to be tested today. The Steelers are a physical team that will want to establish their running game, while threatening downfield with Pickens and Johnson. I like the matchup of Hargrave and Armstead against the Steelers center, and Bosa vs Dan Moore(LT). Offensively, I like the idea of exploiting the Steelers secondary, specifically their slot cb. I think Shanny comes out throwing the ball, and the Steelers keep it close early but ultimately are defeated, 28-17. Let's go!!
49ers inactives:
QB Brandon Allen (3rd QB)
TE Brayden Willis
G Nick Zakelj
DT Kalia Davis
LB Dee Winters
LB Jalen Graham
RB Ty Davis-Price
Two physical football teams that like to beat their opponents into submission. Its the Niners going away.
ReplyDelete* IMO, the key to the 9ers beating the steelers is the 9ers O-Line! “IF” the 9ers O-Line can open holes for the RB’s to run thru, pick up 3rd downs, control the clock, keep Picket and the Steelers O on the bench…..The 9ers win!
ReplyDelete* Can RT McKivitz keep Pittsburg’s LB TJ Watt from sacking Purdy? If not, he’s capable of making it a long day forPurdy and the 9ers offense.
* Can the 9ers DB’s control the steelers WR George Pickens? If they can, the steelers become one dimensional with RB Najee Harris. The 9er D line should be capable of controlling RB Harris.
I look for CMC to score 2 TD’s, one running and one receiving! I also expect Samuel, Aiyuk and Kittle to have big
days.
* 49ers 24 – Steelers 13
Two top-notch defenses, each with young QBs. First game of season. Expect scoring to be low.
ReplyDeleteOffense looks pretty good.
ReplyDeleteDefense looks pretty good.
ReplyDeleteSpecial teams on kickoff not looking so good.
ReplyDeleteRoom for improvement for sure.
DeletePurdy doesn't miss a step. Very nice play calling.
ReplyDeleteWhat a block by Aiyuk & Ray-Ray on that CMC Run...true team effort! Starting fast. Keep up the momentum boys!
Niners need to improve on kickoff coverage, tackling, penalties and the RT McKivitz needs to pick it up.
ReplyDeleteCan anyone tell me why they didn't call Watt for the crown of helmet hit to Purdy's helmet on the fumble?
ReplyDelete1-0
ReplyDeleteImpressed with Purdy, Aiyuk and CMC on offense.
On D, Greenlaw just hits different. You can hear the "Thwack" on TV when he hits. Warner/Greenlaw remind me so much of Bowman/Willis days.
Nitpicking here..... Maybe too many carries for CMC and Offense kinda sputtered in the end there. But overall sheer Dominance....absolute stomping of a good team at their building!
Patrick Peterson is a true gentleman. He once again elected to forego taking advantage of the tells on the 49ers offense.
ReplyDeleteBrutal! This cracked me up.

Scooter......lmao
ReplyDelete*. “There is some tell signs out there that tells us what plays we're gonna get from those guys in certain situations,” Peterson said on the show."
Hey, Peterson was right? His only problem is, his D is the "TELL!" for the 9er offense.
Yep. Every offense has tells. As does every defense. You still need to decipher it in real time and then at the end of the day you still have to execute.
DeleteNiners going to LA for the division lead. Hawks looked like .... and Metcalf is an ---hole.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I was looking around on fieldgulls.com and the fans were praising Metcalf for his ---hole behavior.
DeleteThe 49ers' highest-graded defender in Pittsburgh per PFF: Nick Bosa
ReplyDeleteJake Moody is the first rookie kicker to go 3 for 3 or better on extra points and field goals in season opener since Justin Tucker (3 FGs, 5 PATs) did it in 2012 for Ravens
ReplyDeleteHe is going to be a good one. Just needs the experience that the different fields offer him.
DeleteI am already looking forward to the Cowboys game.
ReplyDeleteI'm not tired of beating McCarthy yet.
DeletePurdy-Brandon Aiyuk 19 yard touchdown had the lowest completion probability (16.5%) of any throw in Week 1, per NextGenStats.
ReplyDeleteDo the Niners trade Brandon Allan to the Jets?
ReplyDeleteDoes Dallas trade Lance to the Jets for a high pick?
DeleteNot sure if Lance is an upgrade over Wilson.
DeleteTrading Allen or Darnold would surprise me very much.
DeleteSO MUCH FOR THE JETS FANS DREAMS OF GOING TO THE SB:
ReplyDelete"Aaron Rodgers reportedly out for season after MRI confirms Achilles injury for Jets QB."

Clelin Ferrell - 4.8%
NFL 2023 week one:
ReplyDeleteSeparating the PRETENDERS from the CONTENDERS:
* Seahages 13 Rams 30
* 9ers 30 Steelers 7
NFL 2023 week two:
ReplyDeleteAnd the 9ers have a chance to put the rest of the NFC West in the rear view mirror!
* If the 9ers beat the Rams! We should win by more than 5 points.
* If the Seahags lose to the Lions! They should lose by more than 7 points.
* NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported that the 49ers worked out QB Ian Book on Tuesday. Not sure why they'd sign him?
ReplyDelete* After the lackluster kickoff coverage in Week 1, the 9ers working out WR Dan Chisena answers the question why they may be interested in possibly signing him.
BB had Shanny check him out for him.
DeleteRazor
DeleteKS must have liked what he seen?
NFL Patriots reportedly signed former fourth-round draft pick Ian Book to the practice squad.

ReplyDeleteI am heading down to Utah and canoeing about 50 miles of the Labyrinth, (Green River). Won't be around starting Monday.
Nice. Send me some pictures, Dave.
