Good afternoon, and welcome to the 49ers live blog for todays game. The winner will be the sole leader of the NFC West. The 49ers come into this game with some brashness, sporting their home uniform's in what has been dubbed, Levi's South. There's some trepidation on the streets that this could be a "trap" game for the 49ers but I just don't see it. This team is too mature with veteran leaders who have established a cultural expectation of excellence. I expect them to come out focused and to take care of business. "A" gap pressure will frustrate Stafford leading to at least 1 interception. I like the 49ers big in this game, 41-17. Go Niners!
49ers inactives
QB Brandon Allen (third QB)
G Nick Zakelj
DT Kalia Davis
RB Ty Davis-Price
LB Jalen Graham
Rams went up to Seattle and won. Also the rivalry has been rejuvenated. It's not a trap game.
ReplyDeleteCan anyone provide any insight why Rams RB Cam Akers and Sean McVay have had a falling out?
ReplyDelete* It was said last year that Akers felt he should be the workhorse RB. McVay gave Akers his wish the final 3 weeks of the season, running the ball consistently through the third-year back, who delivered 345 yards and 3 TD’s on 63 carries……Now the Rams are trying to trade him?
* Anyone care to guess how the Rams will divide up touches between RB's Williams, Rivers and Evans?
Getting CMC was such a great move.
ReplyDeleteIt sure was.
DeleteThe best move. His acquisition has made the biggest difference on this team (with the possible exception of the ascendency of Purdy).
DeleteGetting CMC was a phenomenal move. John Lynch and his team are top 5 around the league, without question! Unfortunately, Kyle is bound and determined to run him into the ground! I hate to say it, but I expect CMC to miss substantial time this year, because one thing Kyle Shanahan has proven over the years, is that he has absolutely no clue how to protect his best players, in terms of load management!
DeleteKyle's inability to separate his emotions from his decision making, has already cost the 49ers dearly over the years. Great offensive play caller, perhaps the best in the NFL, combined with greatly improved in clock management, only undone by the fact that he's simply incapable of making decisions that aren't driven by his short-to-mid term emotions!
Hey, Rib, I heard Shanny put his ego aside and admitted to reading self-help books to improve his coaching.
DeleteSo far it looks like the offense came to play. Wish I could say the same about the defense.
ReplyDeleteThis defense is so reliant on the pass rush forcing the QB to rush things. Not generating much pressure today, and this is what we get.
Delete@Scooter: Well at least we can take solace in knowing we're not paying too much for this DL. Oh wait.....
DeleteRams OL is dominating the most highly paid DL in the league.
Yeah, its frustrating seeing the DL not getting it done with the resources put into it. Need to figure it out.
DeleteMike LaFleur has already got his imprint on the Rams' offense. Some hard-nosed running had been missing from the Rams since a healthy Gurley.
ReplyDeleteIf Niners can stop the run in the second half, they will get the Rams in third long situation which is what they need to step the pass rush.
It is very early in the season, but I don't think NFC West is gonna be a cakewalk this year.
ReplyDeleteCardinals flying around on D.
McVay creating Chicken soup out of Chicken crap.
Pete Caroll still winning with Geno Smith.
It is a long season, play smart and lean on the Offense for this game.
Purdy is really good, but man, he's missed some shot plays today.
ReplyDeleteMoody already paying dividens.
ReplyDeleteDefense definitely better in the second half, though still some concerns. But good to get the win and offense looks good.
ReplyDeletecubus
Delete@Scooter: Do you think the better defensive performance was due to adjustments by Wilks. Nice to see Oliver have a great 2nd half after all of the crap he took from us fans during TC.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely, cubus. Noticeably more pressure on Stafford as they started blitzing more, and it made the difference.
DeleteAfter all the bashing of the O-Line, their ability to not only control Donald, but opening lanes for CMC 's 152 yards played a major part in the 9ers 30 - 23 win against the Rams.
ReplyDeleteOnce again, Foerster proves he's worth what he's paid.
NOTE: Coming into Sunday, Rams all-everything defensive tackle Aaron Donald had 55 tackles and 12.5 sacks in his career against the 49ers in 17 meetings throughout his career. Now that his 18th meeting is in the books, Donald still has 55 tackles and 12.5 sacks in his career against the 49ers.
Sunday's game marked the first time Donald had zero tackles in a game against the 49ers. The box score had Donald for one quarterback hit, with zeroes elsewhere.
Dang! Cardinals sign Qwantrezz Knight off our PS.
ReplyDelete49ers brought in Roby for a workout. Cardinals have taken 3 of our leftovers.
DeleteWe need to get some corner depth for Womack.
DeleteOn the other hand, Raiders cut Jordan Willis a few days back. Good candidate for PS.
Is Shanahan over using CMC? No other RB received a carry versus Rams. Eli should get at least 6-8 and I thought we established Jordan Mason as the closer last year ?
ReplyDeleteMason is in Shanny's fumbler dog house. Shanny's saving Mitchell for his 2 carries in the playoffs.
ReplyDeleteFormer Dallas Cowboys cornerback Anthony Brown is signing with the San Francisco 49ers, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.......
ReplyDelete* According to Aaron Wilson of KPRC in Houston, San Francisco met with Brown on Saturday. The 49ers must feel Brown is healed from his injury, choosing him over veteran Bradley Roby who they had in for a workout on Monday.
NYG players the 9ers need to neutralize to win the game:
ReplyDelete* With RB Saquon Barkley out with an ankle injury, Giants QB Daniel Jones will have to carry the Giants offense. That could be a problem with the Giants LT Andrew Thomas out with a hamstring and LG Ben Bredeson (concussion)
NOTE: The Giants O-line are tied for the NFL’s second-most pressures allowed (35) heading into Week 3.
* The 9ers front 7 must contain Jones and force him to beat them with his arm, not his legs.
* The 9ers D need to shut down TE Darren Waller, WR Isaiah Hodgins and rookie WR Jalin Hyatt, who had 89 receiving yards on just 2 receptions last week.
9ers 31 NYG 13
NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported Wednesday, citing sources, that the 49ers signed Swilling from the practice squad to their active roster.
ReplyDelete* A talented young CB with ideal size (6-1, 196 pounds) that the team likes and has impressed in SF.
