As bad as the Dolphins looked yesterday and as good as the 49ers looked Thurs I think I will pass on giving 12.5. I am a little worried that the 49ers could experience a physical and mental let down after their Australian trip. My second concern is that they continue getting injured. Losing 4 players during the first week of the season is concerning. If it continues we could have a repeat of 25

DeleteI agree. The Oline was a big part in the win against the sleepless in Australia Rams. My biggest concern was Colby, but he more than held his own.

Delete* Morris uses a "Star" defender in the slot to help in run support and deploy as an occasional pass rusher. A true boundary eraser like Porter on the outside would allow Morris to keep Renardo Green free to shift inside and maximize the hybrid role. IMO, it would depend on how the 9ers valued Green and future draft capital.
* Acquiring Porter would likely cost the 9ers a 2nd Rd draft pick, plus a conditional 2027 5th or 6th Rd draft pick.
Porter is currently playing out his rookie contract, earning a base salary of $3,924,000 for the 2026 season. A long term contract would cost the 9ers between Market valuations generally put him between $22 million and $27 Mil per year.
IMO, the 9ers don't have a need for Porter, but he would be a solid addition for the 9er defense.
Stout is that, Fever Backer. I'd be surprised if the Niners traded for Porter.
DeleteIt is early but Flock of Sigle looked good at Safety. I had a feeling he'd be much improved with Warner's communication. He already was one of our better tacklers last season.
ReplyDeleteThe concern over Bosa was good natured but I don't care if he ever practices again. If that will keep him healthy all year, and extend his career I'm all for it. He's the last dude I'd ever worry about being ready to go when the bell rings.

ReplyDeleteOn normal situation 1st & 10 plays, NFL offenses were under center 66.5% of the time, up from 45.9% in Week 1 of 2025, a 20.6 percentage point jump.
That’s higher than every full season rate since 2012.
Shanahan was in 12 and 22 personnel more than 50% of the time so the Rams couldn't take their LB's off the field. Expect McVay to finally learn his lesson and invest in the position next year or retire to Amazon.
