New 49ers defensive coordinator Raheem Morris will meet the local media for the first time at 12:15 PT Thursday to kick off the team’s rookie minicamp.
49ers 2026 home opponents Arizona Cardinals Los Angeles Rams Seattle Seahawks Denver Broncos Las Vegas Raiders Miami Dolphins Minnesota Vikings Philadelphia Eagles Washington Commanders
49ers 2026 away opponents Arizona Cardinals, Los Angeles Rams (NFL Australia game, Week 1) Seattle Seahawks Atlanta Falcons Dallas Cowboys Kansas City Chiefs Los Angeles Chargers New York Giants
As expected, it sounds like Morris will mix in 5-Man front multiplicity along with secondary multiplicity to the 49ers 4-Man rush scheme. I suspect this could take it to another level with Bosa, Warner and friends returning but it might all hinge on that secondary and figuring out FS.
Dont'e Whitner has joined the ranks of hater's not very happy with the 49ers draft. His target is Romello Height. He compares Height to the NYGs Thibodeaux. Thibodeaux played mostly injured in 2025. But before his injury he had good numbers. I'm a Whitner fan, but I do have issues with anyone that assumes players will mimic others without having played one down in the NFL.
I can't help but wonder if Foerster's familiarity with the player worked to elevate his evaluation of Willis over other guys he was less familiar with but potentially had better film.
My main concern in this instance is Foerster has a lot of say on who they draft, and it can be easy to get locked in on a guy you have already gotten to spend time with that plays in a system similar to yours. As I said, I can't help but wonder if that has impacted Foerster's evaluation.
Stribing blew me away with his mature and militarylike manner. Referred to his success in the slot at Washington State. No worries. Can do anything they ask of him. Super confident like a man headed to major accomplishments on the field. A man among boys.
Will there be on the field media coverage for the mini camp?

DeleteColts releasing Kenny Moore.
ReplyDeleteProbably too expensive for what the 49ers are after.

ReplyDeleteCarver Willis sounds smart enough to be the Center of the future.
ReplyDeleteHe'll get paid more in the future if he is, so would be a smart move for him too.

Skillsets might be similar but totally different personalities. I don't think we'd ever have any interest in Thibodeaux due to culture fit.
DeleteWhitner is one of the shouty content creators. Loud opinions. Not always backed up by anything.
DeleteIn this case, Whitner has zero back up when considering that Romollo has yet to play in the NFL. You are correct with the term "loud opinion."
DeletePool Party picks were on both on offense and defense, per Raheem Morris.
ReplyDeleteThe Minnesota Vikings have reportedly signed former San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Jauan Jennings to a one-year deal worth up to $13 million.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad he didn't take our offer of $17M.
DeleteTurns out Foerster was following Carver Willis around at WA's practices.
ReplyDeleteI can't help but wonder if Foerster's familiarity with the player worked to elevate his evaluation of Willis over other guys he was less familiar with but potentially had better film.
DeleteWA coaches used 49ers practice film to structure theirs. Makes me wonder if this happens more than reported with other teams.
DeleteYeah, I'm sure it does.

49ers assistant Jake Lynch was on Washington's staff in 2024 doing cutups for DBs, including Ephesians Prysock.
DeletePrysock's two older brothers were high school teammates with 49ers corner Deommodore Lenoir.

ReplyDeleteShanahan said he wants grown men at the WR position and Stribling carries himself in that way.
