Two-years, $50 million dollar extension with $37 million fully guaranteed, including a $22 million signing bonus. The deal keeps Williams under contract with the team through the 2027 season and frees up more than $20 million in 2026 salary cap space.
ReplyDeleteI think they will wait until next year to draft a OT early. If there is a trade back available in the 1st round I could see them trading back 7 to 10 spots and then drafting a guard with that pick.
ReplyDelete3 days until draftmas
ReplyDeleteWilliams ranked 3rd out of 89 OT's in '25.
ReplyDeleteI've always felt that the 49ers and TW would come to a mutual agreement. The draftniks that had Lomu going to the 49ers were working from a pro-active mindset since there was no sure-fire guarantee that TW would re-up.
ReplyDeleteHe's told everyone he plans to play until 40 for the past 3 years but only a few of us listened.
DeleteNow that Williams is signed, I think I’d draft OT Max Iheanachor. He’s raw but has tremendous upside, and with Williams on board, he’d have an excellent mentor.
ReplyDeleteThat would be a waste of a 1st round pick. At 27 you need someone that contributes right out of the gate.
DeleteWho would that be? I don't see any openings other than RG.
DeleteLG
DeleteWR or Edge. Has never changed for me. I still think it'll be Concepcion or a big DE. I think they'll target their 240-250 pounder on Day 3 like a Tucker.
DeleteCould potentially see Malachi Lawrence at 27, and either Sarratt, Bernard, Hurst or a surprise with their 2nd pick.
DeleteThe truth will be settled very soon.
I think Lawrence has the highest ceiling, but when you look at who he went up against in the Big 12 last year his stock is overinflated right now.
DeleteThey drafted Banks in Round 2 so it wouldn't surprise me to see them take an OG there, but I expect it to be Round 4.
ReplyDeleteAgree. The Trent signing makes OL a lower priority.
DeleteI think edge is now the most urgent need. Then LG.
ReplyDeleteI don't think they draft a light (240-250 lb.) edge rusher in Round 1. Haven't done it yet....

DeleteRazor,
DeleteIf either Parker or Faulk are at 27 which one should the 49ers take?
I'd prefer TJ.
I'd go with Faulk.
DeleteAnother thing to consider gentlemen is Concepcion is also a very good PR. Just so happens we have an opening.
ReplyDeleteYup.
ReplyDeleteThe Eagles and Patriots are expected to finalize a trade that would send WR AJ Brown to New England after June 1, per Schefter.
