DeleteFree agent WR Romeo Doubs would be an excellent 9er fit, after signing Evans. Good foot quickness and ability to work the middle of the field on in-breaking routes. Has strong hands to finish through contact and excellent focus on deep-field balls. The question is, what will it cost to sign him?
I love Mike Evans signing... only caveat is health and if his body can take a 17 game season.

DeleteIMO, he replaces everything JJ contributed to the team and much more. High reward - medium risk (only because of injury history) signing at a reasonable cost. I like it.

ReplyDeleteEvans is a great signing. He instantly gives them a downfield target to stretch defenses and a RZ target. Both were needs.
ReplyDeleteNot to mention how he will impact the young WRs. Who was the last experienced, really professional WR that we had (Sanders??). Maybe if we had had someone like that, BA might have turned out differently. Maybe part of the problem with him is that he didn't have a good mentor to help him transition from college and learn to be a professional. Moot point now, of course.
DeleteWhile I like the signing. The 3yr contract does give me pause. I'm not sure which Mike Evans the 49ers are getting. Are they getting a WR with many seasons of 1k receiving yards or a WR that missed 9 games last season due to a rash of injuries. If he can stay healthy the signing will be great. But, his age may be a reason for his injuries as well.

Overview
Offensive line prospect who checks multiple boxes in both the traits and intangibles categories. Evaluators are sure to love Lowe's personal character as well as his measurables. He's big, strong and long but needs to play with better hand accuracy and technique to fully unlock those traits. Bend and athleticism are both strengths for Lowe, who is a scheme-independent talent. He's allowed too many pressures and sacks during his career but has the tools for rapid improvement with a few coaching fixes. Lowe is worthy of middle-round consideration as a swing tackle with guard potential.
