Not quite yet. But so far it's been great season. A good Colts team on Monday and than two tough teams after that are why I'm still in hope-mode and not getting too excited.
ReplyDeleteI'm just going to enjoy the ride as long as it lasts. No expectations from me this year. Hard to get too carried away when they are only 2-4 vs teams in playoff positions, and one of those wins required a fair bit of luck while the other was week 1 which can always be weird.
ReplyDeleteIf the Bounty Hunter gets to 13 wins in Denver he'll join BB as the only ones to have done it 5 times. Shanahan has done it twice and is on the precipice of doing it again.
DeleteI admire the optimism, but I think getting to play 4 straight pretty poor teams has made people forget how they felt at 6-4, following heavy defeats by the Bucs and Rams.
DeleteAfter Seattle beat the Rams, the Niners chances of winning the #1 seed in the NFC jumped from 11% to 20.9%, per ESPN Analytics.
DeleteA win against Indianapolis on Monday night and that improves to 31.9%.
If you want to convince yourself the team is destined for the SB I won't stop you. Heck, I very much hope you're right. But as I said earlier, I'm just going to take it a game at a time and enjoy the ride, no expectations.
DeleteI'm convinced we got a punchers chance with Shanahan, Purdy, CMC, Kittle and Trent Williams, and no one can convince me otherwise.
DeleteYeah I agree the 49ers are a punchers chance.
DeleteKendricks' acumen can match Rivers' and it sounds like it might be him, Bethune and Winters moving forward.
ReplyDeleteReportedly, Robinson hasn't done well against the run... not sure the source. Therein, Kendrick's experience could help. For me, load the box and take Taylor away...... make Rivers beat you w short passes
DeleteExactly.
Delete49ers:
ReplyDeleteLate Game Success Rate: 53.9% (2nd in the NFL)
Red Zone EPA: 0.17 (4th in the NFL), 62.97% RZ TD rate (9th), and 64.29% in the last 3 weeks.
Excellent news: Niners Jordan Elliott and Spencer Burford
ReplyDeletereturned to practice, per Nick Wagoner.
Nice. Now, let's get Bethune back and healthy and hopefully add Watkins down the stretch run.
DeleteYGM is practicing and trending towards playing against the Colts.
ReplyDeleteJUST A THOUGHT:
ReplyDeleteWith a win over the Rams, Seattle kept the 9er SB dream alive!
Now, they've used up their luck at Lumen Field, so lets lets repay them with a win at Levi on Jan 4th just to remind them we haven't forgot the times from 2012 thru 2022 when they dominated the rivalry with a (17-4) record, contributing to the 9ers missing the playoffs in some
seasons, even if not always a direct elimination game!
'26 WR Ranking NFL Draft:
ReplyDelete1. Carnell Tate
2. Jordyn Tyson
3. Makai Lemon
4. KC Concepcion
5. Denzel Boston
6. Chris Brazzell II
7. Zachariah Branch
8. Ja’Kobi Lane
9. Elijah Sarratt
10. Malachi Fields
11. Germie Bernard
12. Ian Strong
13. Antonio Williams
14. Eric Singleton Jr.
15. Kevin Coleman Jr.
Even with the ACL injury I'd have Bell over a lot of those.
DeleteI'm with you on Bell. Would you consider 49ers taking him with their 2nd rd pick? I would take him with the 2nd pick even if he needs to redshirt in year one. The kid is that dynamic and worth waiting for.
DeleteRazor
DeleteThe top 3 WR's on your list (Tate, Tyson and Lemon) will all be drafted before the 9ers get a turm to draft them. Tate and Tyson both top 10 and Lemon is, top 20.
* KC offers a lot to like, but has ball security problems (too many drops), has problems getting off the LOS against bigger.
physical DB's and we already have a Slot receiver (Pearsall).
* Zachariah Branch WR Georgia has same qualities as KC, but is a lower round draft prospect. (Rd #3), but moving up some
draft boards
AES, if he hadn't gotten injured I think he'd have gone in the 25-45 range. If the medicals show the ACL recovery looks on track, I think a drop to the 60-90 range would make sense.
DeleteIn terms of talent, I'd have him ahead of Brazzell on that list.
If somehow the short arms make teams at the top of the draft second guess, having Rueben Bain fall to the 49ers would be terrific. I don't know if he'll be a top tier sack getter in the NFL, but I am convinced he's going to be a consistent pressure generator and force against the run. Just so damn strong and densely built, with very good explosiveness/ power for his size. And I love how hard it is for OL to shove him off his track if he gets the corner.
ReplyDeleteNo chance he's dropping out of the top 15.
DeleteESPN sources: Rams fired special teams coordinator Chase Blackburn.
ReplyDeleteI did not see anything special from Bain in today's game. He got a couple of sacks that were created by teammates busting up the OL, but not the type of dominant game I was expecting from him. I still like him, but somewhat cooled a little after today.
ReplyDeleteThe stats are definitely inflated for Bain in that game. But I've watched a bit of him now and the power he brings is no joke. One on one he's a real handful for OL.
DeleteHis lower body is so thick he looks like a DT out there, and he moves a bit like a DT, which does make him a guy that doesn't flash as much as your typical DEs and is why I question if he'll ever be a high sack volume guy. But, combined with his hand fighting, it's also why I think he'll be able to generate pressures pretty consistently.
Bain has a 32.9% pass rush win rate on true pass sets in 2025.
DeleteI've seen people comparing him to Cam Jordan, but that's not the comp I would go with. I can see him having a career very similar to Brandon Graham. A guy that doesn't necessarily get a tonne of sacks, but is just a bully that creates a lot of pressures and has OTs in the ice bath for a few days after the game.
DeleteDwight Freeney
DeleteKyle Louis, LB, Pittsburg:
ReplyDeleteHybrid DB coverage skills & sideline to sideline LB toughness
Per Feldman’s Freaks, 21+ MPH at 6-0, 225
🔹2024 1st-Team All-American
🔹201 TKLs, 25.5 TFLs, 10 sacks, 6 INT, 12 PBU, 2 FF
I just don't see them taking a LB before day 3.
DeleteRenardo Green is OUT for Monday’s game against the Colts, per Kyle Shanahan.
ReplyDeleteI guy who I like is Jaishawn Barham from Michigan. I have some qualms about his attitude after he lightly headbutted an official. But after watching his tape (without sounding sacrileges) he reminds me of Fred Warner. He is an excellent run stopper and great tackler.
ReplyDeleteKeionte Scott, NB/PR, Miami 6-0, 192
ReplyDelete🔸Zero-star from California
🔸Won🥇in the long jump at the USATF Nevada Assoc. Junior Olympics
🔸2x JUCO All-American @ Snow College
🔸22 starts at Auburn before UM transfer
I think we got a riser:
ReplyDeleteAkheem Mesidor, Edge, Miami (38 pass rush snaps):
• 10.5 total pressures
• 9 hurries
• 1.5 sacks
Good player, but I don't really like taking guys high that will be 25 year old rookies that have injury question marks.
DeleteCaden Curry, DE, Ohio St., alignment versatility, motor runs hot, 20.7% win rate on true pass sets, a 10.1% stop rate, and a career high 9 sacks in '25.
ReplyDeleteIf I was a Detroit Lions fan, I would be very tired of Campbell's incessant philosophy of going for it on 4th downs. Just wondering how many points he's left on the field due to his 4th down failed gambles.
ReplyDeleteWe're in the playoffs folks!
ReplyDeleteYes!
ReplyDeleteWTG Niners
ReplyDeleteSo proud of this team! One game at a time now, to get into the best position for the playoffs.
ReplyDeleteThat being said, no matter what happens in the playoffs, remarkable job from the coaches and players!
I told you this team would make the playoffs even though it was before we lost Bosa and Warner.
ReplyDeleteThe way the Hawks won, the way the Bears won, the way the Steelers won, bazaar too me...
ReplyDeleteThis has been one of the greatest regular season's ever! Every week, there is at least one contender for "Game of the Year".
DeleteJust shows that there is no DOMINANT team this year and any team can beat any other team on any given day. Bodes well for us.
Bodes very well when you have Shanahan and the coaching staff he has assembled.
DeleteCampbell left a potential 6 pts on the field today by by failing to go for 2 field goals. Two fields would have been enough to win today's game. If I'm the Lions owner he'd be my office in the morning.
ReplyDeleteFor all his "physicality" that Campbell advertises his team got manhandled. Shanahan prides himself on having the more physical team he just doesn't run around with the bravado that Campbell does.
DeleteSOMEONE HAS A PROBLEM:
ReplyDelete* Brandon Aiyuk posts video of driving his car at high rate of speed.
It's one thing to drive a car 100 miles per hour. It's another thing to do it in a 40 mph zone. It's another thing to videotape the incident.
And it's another thing to post that video on social media.
* Exiled 49ers receiver Brandon Aiyuk checked all of those boxes on Saturday.
* On Tasman Drive near Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, Aiyuk was driving 104 mph in a 40 mph zone. The video shows him driving as fast at 111 mph.
https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/brandon-aiyuk-posts-video-driving-140822551.html
Yes, I caught that yesterday. Makes me wonder if Aiyuk has ever heard about Antonio Brown. BAs actions could have put someone in grave danger besides himself.
DeleteCampbell was 0-5 on 4th downs against the Eagles and now this. If I recall, he failed on 4th downs against the 49ers in the playoffs not to long ago. At some point the fans in Detroit will grow tired of his bravado if they haven't
ReplyDeletealready. Heck, I'm mad at Campbell and I'm not even a Lions fan, 🤔
Beat the Colts!
ReplyDeleteProduction from 2025 EDGE first rounders:
ReplyDeleteWin Rate | Total Pressures
1) Abdul Carter - 14.3% | 54
2) James Pearce Jr. - 11.2% | 39
3) Jalon Walker - 10.6% | 25
4) Mykel Williams - 8.8% | 19
5) Shemar Stewart - 7.5% | 8
Bain's pass-rush win rate:
ReplyDelete0-4i techniques - 15.4%
5-9 techniques - 24.1%
Initially due to arm length below average I assumed Bain would be better suited to rush against OG's, but I think in a wide 9 where he has room to incorporate his deceptive footwork to get OT's off balance, along with his strength and physicality, he's a better matchup off the edge.
HOW THE 9ERS BEAT THE COLTS:
ReplyDelete* Limit the Colts' RB J. Taylor to less than 75 yards and keep him out of the end zone. Force Rivers to beat them with short passes.
NOTE: The longest pass Rivers threw against Seattle was 17 yards.
* Pound the rock with CMC, control the clock and take advantage of injured Colts CB (Sauce Gardner's - calf injury). The Colts' defense has struggled against the pass.
* The team that controls the LOS and no turnovers, wins the game!
* With both teams trying to run the ball, it will be a low scoring game.
I have the 9ers with a win! 9ers 20 to Colts 17
Defensive end Yetur Gross-Matos has been activated from injured reserve.
ReplyDeleteCornerback Eli Apple has been elevated from the practice squad.
Linebacker Eric Kendricks has been elevated from the practice squad
Don't the Niners now control their own DESTINY? That's great. I wish I could control destiny. The 49ers would go 17-0 every year and win the Super Bowl 72-zip. Or do they control DESTINEE, one of the cheerleaders? Man, I wouldn't want to be her!
ReplyDeleteDuke CB Chandler Rivers, CB, Duke 223 tkls, 7 INT, 29 PD, & 3 FF in 45 starts @ <5-10,185
ReplyDeleteCatch point competitor, sticky controlled🦶& enough speed to stay in vertical phase
His spacing & baiting QBs in off-zone is a vital pair w/his sudden click & close; seems like a good fit for us.
