Welcome back to 49ers football! After a week off San Francisco faces one of the worst pre-snap motion defenses in the league (0.18 EPA), and good teams beat the ones they should. My key ingredient for a recipe to victory is don't turn the ball over. Do that and victory should be assured. Brock Purdy needs to continue to take the checkdowns and not hold the ball. Pearsall needs to find the formula to create that chemistry. Spencer Burford needs to be on his P's and Q's versus Simmons. Dee Winters has to tackle well behind Collins who'll be counted on to shut down the interior. I've got the 49ers winning this game 31-13. Go Niners!

3rd Round Gem for Saleh/Kocurek's wide 9
The NFC seeding probably will be changing weekly. Not sure if I can remember an end of the season quite like this one.
ReplyDeleteIndeed.
DeleteGivens' legs should be fresh as a daisies on that DL today.
ReplyDeleteKittle with the Pizza Pizza shirt, lmao!
ReplyDeleteHurry up offense seems to have been a point of emphasis on the bye. Nice!
ReplyDeleteRun defense sure is suspect.
ReplyDeleteAgree, UC. The 49ers will not go far in the PO with this defense. No pass rushers and poor tackling is a recipe for a butt-kicking. These guys need to grow up soon before the playoffs.
ReplyDeleteI was hoping with the rest, the defense would pick it up a little. So far eh...
DeleteNiners should be burying this team, so far - not.
ReplyDeleteClean up the communication on the backend.
ReplyDeleteStill need to get more stout up front. But it will come. Just hope it comes before the POs.
ReplyDeleteHopefully, when Sam O and Gross-Matos return they'll generate more pressure up front a bit. Would still like to see some 5-man fronts against some of these run heavy/QB suspect teams
DeleteKick that ass Kyle! Happy Birthday to the best coach in the NFL!
ReplyDeleteThis run defense sucks and getting worst.
ReplyDeleteThe 49ers are playing in easy mode. They need to keep their foot on the gas
ReplyDeleteGreat win! Get healthy and get back to work on tackling and communicating better in the secondary.
ReplyDeleteBig game Thursday night. Hoping the Hawks can win that one.
ReplyDeleteGot the job done. Nothing else matters.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately neither the Colts or Lions helped us out.
Nice win...didn't see the game yet. Looks like Brock had a game.
ReplyDeleteIf Seattle plays like today against the Rams/Us, they will lose both games and maybe even the Panthers game.
NFC West is bonkers...and somehow we are still in the thick of it!
Mug
DeleteI'd give the Colts more credit for the score being so close.
The Colts went to Seattle and give them all they could handle
* Rivers didn't look like it was his first game played in years.
* The colts held Seattle to 6 field goals (No TD's).
* Seattle won on a field goal with 18 seconds left in the game.
* The 9er D needs to do a better job of stopping the run! The Colts RB, Jonathan Taylor, is going to have a big day if they don't.
GEEP,
DeleteI think with a Monday night game our D will be far more buttoned up as Saleh will be auditioning. Shanahan will also punch in his ticket for Coach of the Year.
Plus remember we have what the Hawks don't have.... Gus Bradley who was there with the Colts even before Steichen took over. Also, strangely we have been a better road team. So I will give us the edge.
Even if we lose, it is a non-conference game, so not as important as Bears/Hawks games as far as NFC seeding/Head to Heads are concerned.
Detroit’s loss to the Rams means the 49ers have the tiebreaker on the Lions in a two-way tie based on conference record.
ReplyDelete10-4 feels really good with the Lions losing. One more win I believe guarantees a playoff berth.
DeleteIf the Lions lose 1 of 3 or if Packers lose 2 or 3, we are into playoffs. This is because of Conference record. We will be 8-4 in the conference even if we lose out.
DeleteI think Lions losing 1 more if far more likely. Lions have 3 games left.
At home vs Steelers who are in a dog-fight against the Ravens.
Away vs Vikings to whom they lost already at home
Away vs Bears who look like the NFC North's best.
Going to be interesting to see if the Packers can now withstand some brutal injuries the way the 49ers have had to.
ReplyDeletePurdy now has seven career games with a passer rating of 140-plus, which ties him with Kurt Warner for the most such games by a player in his first four seasons in NFL history.
ReplyDeleteWith the way our D is playing losing the last 3 is all together possible. We should beat a Rivers led Colts but with Jonathan Taylor and absolutely no pass rush the Colts could beat us at home. We have to hope that Yetur Gross-Matos, Tatum Bethune and Sam O. can play next Monday
ReplyDeleteThe way in which BROCK is currently playing, just might be good enough to carry this football team to the promise land! This is the Brock Purdy we hoped would emerge from injury. This is the Brock Purdy who is an MVP caliber QB! Kyle is in his bag, and Saleh is elevating this defense despite it's obvious shortcomings due to injury. This my friends, is INSPIRING FOOTBALL!
