Players who are BACK in practice during early open portion Monday:
WR Jauan Jennings
G Dominick Puni
DL Kalia Davis
DL Yetur Gross-Matos
WR Russell Gage Jr.
With Nick Bosa going down with a knee injury the 49ers are losing a player a week. Fortunately help is on the way with Demarcus Robinson re...
Jordon Watkins is the only one not seen.
ReplyDeleteReally glad to see Puni back.
ReplyDeleteAll 5 players gives the 9ers a better chance of beating Seattle.
ReplyDelete* WR Jauan Jennings: gives BP another WR to throw to, especially for
third down .completions.
* OT Dominick Puni: Opens running lanes for CMC and Robinson. Helps give BP enough time to find his receivers.
* Kalia Davis: provides depth and rotational help for the D line. Adds pass-rushing ability to pressure Seattle QB, Darnold.
* Yetur Gross-Matos: Adds versatility. provides depth and a pass-rushing threat as both an edge rusher and D lineman. As Scooter brought up, He can switch positions with Bosa, with Bosa moving inside to match up with a OG rather than OT and Matos
the EDGE rusher.
* WR Russell Gage: Provides veteran experience and reliable hands. Has the ability to play multiple receiver positions, including Slot receiver and ST experience. Offers flexibility and depth to the offense and ST units.
* I'd add one more player, Valdes-Scantling, Marquez to this list.
WR Demarcus Robinson has been suspended for 3 games, but the NFL allows teams to bring up a PS player 3 times, allowing the 9ers
to call up VSM 3 times.
At the 2018 NFL combine, VSM ran the 40 in 4.37s. With his speed, he'll force Seattle DB's to cover him, especially on deep routes. The 9ers could use him to run clear out routes for their receivers, especially Kittle,
Outside of Aiyuk, Mustapha and Robinson, the 49ers are as close to 100% as they can get. There should be no excuses. If they look good then I see a wild card berth in their future. If they don't look good then they may struggle for most of the season. They will struggle early and into the middle of the season. Hopefully the D will mature and improve late in the season.
ReplyDeleteI think Kendrick Bourne tryout might have been a smoke screen to just get JJ on the field. :)
ReplyDeleteAnyway, great to see JJ practicing. That situation handled well by the FO. Gotta give 'em that.
I never bought into the Bourne interest other than to maybe see where he was healthwise. I do think deadlines and willingness to move forward without you was the motivating factor. Whoever was giving him advise was a dumbass.
DeleteAlso good to check where Bourne is at in case of injuries during the year.
DeleteThe 5 heaviest OL units entering 2025 per total listed weight
ReplyDeletePHI - 1st (2nd in 2024 & 2023)
CLE - 2nd
CIN - 3rd
LAC - 4th
TEN - 5th
Well, 4 out of 5 of those teams will likely have success because of the size along the Oline.
ReplyDeleteCleveland is Cleveland. Which means they will continue to draft high every year and have very little to show for it.
