If Nick Bosa can get a modicum of consistent pressure from the opposite side he could end up having another Defensive Player of the Year aw...
Not bad, not bad at all razor!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteThat's a good looking haul, Razor.
ReplyDeleteThank you sir.
DeleteOld Coach, in the previous thread you asked whether anyone sees some Justin Smith in Ty Robinson.
ReplyDeleteThat's lofty praise and not sure he's quite Cowboy, but I do see where you're coming from. There are some similarities to their play style.
Here is the link to the 2025 Build-Your Own 49ers Roster:

ReplyDeleteA good looking 9er draft. I like Armand Membou but a Little surprised if he moves up to draft pick #4?
I told you he'd probably end up going between 4-8 the other day and shortly thereafter Dane Brugler dropped his post mock with him going 4.
DeleteI would good with Membou at #11. Actually, I'd be fine any of the players that have been mentioned here. My main concern is that whoever that pick is, he has to be a day1 starter. 2nd & 3rd rd players should be able to make contributions as well. I'm my opinion, this may be the draft that keeps the 49ers relevant for the years to come. Can't afford major misses in this one.
DeleteAES, agreed, this and the 2024 draft class need to provide at least 1 elite tier player at a premium position and a bunch of good starter quality players.
Delete2024 class is off to a good start, though not sure it will produce an elite tier player at a premium position. But a bunch of guys that look like they should develop into good starters.
Razor
ReplyDeleteYea, I see a couple of boards moving him up to top 5 draft picks...But at draft pick #4, I start thinking Mason Graham, DT, Michigan again.
But either one would work, 9ers could use both.
Yea, I basically just wanted to see what it might look like. Not something I'd expect to see happen. I remember when Buckner fell into our laps and he was predicted to go earlier so you never know, Graham could do the same. Glad you liked it.
DeleteTwo 9er free agents that will, IMO, change their draft if they leave. LB Greenlaw and RB Mason.
ReplyDeleteI think they'll sign a LB (Greenlaw or someone else) and draft a LB no matter what, and would be shocked if they don't draft a RB even if they keep Mason.
DeleteYou still think the 9ers will draft LOB Chris Paul?
DeleteI thought he'd put up better combine numbers. Not that they were bad, just that he didn't really help himself.
Nick Marin helped himself, but I'd liked to see his 3 cone and shuttle time. Eugene asante also helped himself.
All three of those guys I reckon the 49ers will be interested in.
DeleteTrey Wedig, OT, IU, thoughts?
ReplyDelete45 career games played in college with starts at right tackle, right guard and left guard, and his experience, ideal excellent height (6065v) and length (8168v wing), 5.0 PAI thanks to his elite shot-put and discus background.
Sounds like the sort of resume the 49ers like for day 3 OL.
DeleteRazor,
DeleteHow do you find these guys? I just finished watching tape on him. He's definitely a sleeper.
Digging into the UDFA pool.
DeleteRazor,
DeleteHe sounds like another Daniel Brunskill. They should have never let him go.
I really hope the 49ers are able to add Jaylin Noel. He is such a good WR. His route stems are fantastic, and he gets DBs in "oh $hit" mode immediately.
ReplyDeleteThat's what Purdy needs in my opinion, not another Deebo clone.
DeleteAgreed.
DeleteThe only caveat being I think Purdy also has a preference for bigger bodies/ targets to throw to.
Sub 4.40 + 20 Reps of 225lbs
ReplyDeleteOnly Combine WRs since '03
- DK Metcalf
- Kevin White
- Josh Boyce
- Eddie Royal
- Jaylin Noel 🔥🔥🔥
5 Total WRs in 23 years. I'm getting the sense you might have to take Noel at 43 because he's probably moved up into mid-day 2.
Quite possible. It's where I have been thinking he should go, based on film.
DeleteI wouldn't be mad if the 49ers went with Noel. The reason I prefer Savion Williams is his size. Williams can be like having two TEs on the field. I would rather have a bigger target for Purdy to see over the middle. Jennings and Purdy had very good chemistry last year and believe that JJs 6' 3" frame could have had something to do with that. Williams is 6' 4."
ReplyDeleteAlso, I understand that Noel had some drop issues.
ReplyDeleteWilliams had a significantly bigger drop issue. 11.8% drop rate compared to 5.6% for Noel.
DeleteIf you want a big bodied WR they're much better off going for Tre Harris or Jayden Higgins, imo. Williams reminds me of Cordarelle Patterson - needs schemed touches to be effective.
Per, DraftBuzz.
ReplyDeleteRe: Noel.
"Drop concentration appears at the worst times – focus lapses have plagued him with a concerning 7.2% career drop rate that will raise eyebrows in draft rooms."
The "drops at the worst times" is concerning for me. We recently saw how much that can hurt and deflate the team with Deebo's big drop that may have given the 49ers an hopeful chance at the playoffs. Williams might not be THAT GUY, but a big target should help Purdy throwing over tall Dlines.
If that "drops" him into the 49ers lap, all the better. The guy is excellent.
DeleteThat works for me.
ReplyDeleteIt's been reported that the Niners offered Purdy 45 million. Thats right around what Mahomes is making. If Purdy signs for anything more than 55 million, I will be somewhat surprised.
ReplyDeleteUC
ReplyDeleteYes, it's being reported the 9ers have offered BP ~$45 Mil p/y
* Insider claims 49ers have offered Brock Purdy $45 million annually
* A $45 million annual salary would tie Purdy as the 12th-highest-paid player in the NFL, alongside Patrick Mahomes and Kirk Cousins. However, this may only be the 49ers' starting point. Purdy is widely expected to land within the league's top 10 highest-paid players, likely surpassing the $50 million mark annually.
https://www.49erswebzone.com/articles/189136-insider-claims-offered-million-annually/
I still believe Purdy will sign for less than his worth due to his understanding that a large amount awarded to him would probably throttle the hopes of retaining or signing talent laden players. Purdy isn't in the class of Montana, Brady or Mahomes.
DeleteUnpopular options: Play out this 5th and then franchise him for the next year- draft a replacement... Also, wonder what Rodgers wants? Sign Aaron for 2/$50 and trade Brock to the Raiders for their 1st and a 2026 1st. Build the trenches. Draft a QB to be ready in 3 years and sign a cheap vet......... 49ers ARE a class-act organization, but, they gotta get a ring.
ReplyDeleteI think the 49ers have some leverage by giving him his choice to either take FGTD $100M upfront for a 3 year $50M APY contract or play for $5M this year and franchise tagged for 2 more years at $50M APY.
DeleteWhat I find interesting is that they seem to be talking about a 3-year deal (i.e., 2-year extension). Which very much would be based on comparing to an alternative of letting him play out final year plus FT for 2 years.
DeleteThat surprises me some given the talk from ShanaLynch of wanting him here so long as they are here. And their belief in him.
But... thinking about it, this would actually line up with the end of Kyle's contract in 2027. Is he inadvertently giving us a timeline for how long he's intending to stay here for?
Makes me also wonder if there is indeed some behind the scenes issues between ShanaLynch and ownership.
I'm pretty confident if they make the playoffs Shanahan will get an extension by the end of the year.
DeleteProbably. But have to admit it's kind of weird.
DeleteI agree we're in uncharted waters but I'm confident in the captain of the ship.
DeleteBilly Bowman, S, OK:
ReplyDelete"I want to suffocate offenses. Offense is easy to play. You know your play. You know where the ball is going. All you got to do is get the ball, make somebody miss. Defense, it brings so much more of a challenge. So it's so much more fun. But my goal is just to suffocate offenses. I don't want to give them nothing. I want to hold them to zero to 3. When the ball is in the air, it's mine. If they hand the ball off, I want to rally to the ball as quick as possible. My mentality is suffocation."
Big fan of Bowman.
Delete- Not a single NFL QB to win a NFL playoff game in the last 2 years took 35+ sacks in their final college season…
ReplyDelete- Shedeur took 42 Sacks in his final college season…
I would like to see Shedeur have a successful NFL career. But spending a high 1st rd pick on him seems like a big gamble, imho.
ReplyDeleteThe San Francisco #49ers have released DL Javon Hargrave, per sources.
ReplyDeleteRazor / Scooter
DeleteWill Leonard Floyd be the next player the 9ers cut?
* Trading Samuel means the 49ers still have one post-June 1 designation they can use, assuming the other one goes to Javon Hargrave.
* Releasing Floyd before June 1 would mean the Niners eat $8.6 million in dead money and save $1.47 against the cap. * With a post-June 1 designation the 49ers can spread the $8.6 million in dead money over the next four seasons while saving $7.95 million in cap savings this season and $4.31 million in 2026.
I'd try and trade Floyd for a 4th. He's in the last year of his deal and he's older.
DeleteYeah, I'd rather trade than flat out release if possible.
DeleteThe 49ers failed to restructure Kyle Juszczyk’s contract he will now become a free agent.
ReplyDeleteThis one felt inevitable.
DeleteQuestion is, do they replace him with like for like? Or do they look at tinkering the offense to reduce the use of a fb?
Scooter
DeleteWhat's your opinion on replacing Juszczyk with Cam Skattebo Arizona St.?
As a fb? I'd probably avoid - better off getting someone with more experience as a lead blocker.
DeleteAll of the noise following Shedur Sanders kind of reminds me of the predraft rumblings about Baker Mayfield and he turned out pretty good.
ReplyDeleteJoey Bosa has been released. Oft injured but still productive when on the field. Should we try to bring him in as a rotational piece at the same price we paid Floyd?
ReplyDeleteAbove post is from me, cubus.
DeleteKnowing the Bosa's he won't be signing a team friendly contract. The whole family Dad, Uncle and both brothers are known to gouge their teams
Deletethe best chance the 49ers have is for him to appease their mom, who wants them to play together...... maybe a 2/$25-30 incentive laden deal......w potential for $35ish
DeleteI'm now thinking the chances of the 49ers spending big on Drew Dalman aren't that great. I wouldn't be surprised if they try and get another year out of Brendel and draft someone for the future.
ReplyDeleteThat might start a riot the way people hate Brendel. I think the way they got Hennessy suggests to me he'll be his main competition.
DeleteW guys like Dalman, Bosa, Reed, Sherman out there that could plug gaps......... if Purdy doesn't sign a team-friendly deal, why wouldn't they go all-in for the next couple of years and spend the $ on FA's and tag him? - the window for the balance of stars is getting tight. Sucks draft isn't for 7 weeks.
DeleteThey've already as much as flat out said they're not going all in this year, but rather looking at a reset, and all of the moves they're making pretty much confirm it.
DeleteThe reason is simple - they don't have the cap space for it. If they went all in it would literally be a 1 and done deal - the next few years after that would be salary cap hell. It's why they're looking to offload contracts.
This April draft class is essential for another SB run in 2-3 years down the road. Shanahan and Lynch has to treat this draft the way they treated their first two drafts in 2017 and 2018.
DeleteBoston College EDGE Donovan Ezeiruaku Last Season:
ReplyDelete🦅 16.5 Sacks
🦅 20 QB Hits
🦅 60 QB Pressures
🦅 90.5 Pass Rush Grade
Niners are interested in S Ashtyn Davis, CB Brandin Echols & LB Jamin Davis, per source. All former Jets who play special teams.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds more like someone putting 2 + 2 together than based on an actual source.
DeleteAgreed.
DeleteCouple more sleepers:
ReplyDeleteMemphis RB Mario Anderson Jr
Clemson SAF RJ Mickens
Most QB pressures over the last four seasons:
ReplyDeleteN. Bosa - 329
Crosby - 329
Parsons - 327
Garrett - 319
Hendrickson - 299
How about some "mock" FA signings. Who do you think they will sign in free agency? "Mock" FA signings due by Sunday night. Once more its who do you think they WILL sign not who do you think they SHOULD sign
ReplyDeleteThe only name I feel even a little confident attaching to the 49ers is Asante Samuel. I think they will go after him.
DeleteThey've also been reasonably heavily linked with the DL market, so I do expect them to add 1 or 2 DL, but have no idea who at this point.
I also expect them to add a LB capable of starting (obviously Greenlaw is the team's hope, but I don't know how likely that is) as well as a FS. But also don't expect either to get top of the market contract offers from the 49ers.
If they do release Juice I could see Tommy Tremble be a guy the 49ers pursue as well.
Scooter
DeleteIMO, the free agents the 9ers target will depend on BP's new contract and how it is structured.
I agree with you on Asante Samuel, but CB DJ Reed may follow Saleha to the 9ers?
GEEP, imo, based on everything the team has said and is doing, I find it very hard to believe they will shell out for Reed. My assumption is they'll be playing FA to add value options.
DeleteI am thinking Greenlaw gets a multiple year offer, so they won't keep him...and Hufunga is likely gone as they suggest he's at 2/$25 value and the 49ers want more speed. Want Reed, but he's too $$$$, so I am going Joey on a 2-3yr incentive laden deal w an out after each and Sherwood w the Greenlaw $. Aiyuk to NE..... and I agree w Samuel thought... they'll get a S and DT as well- maybe bring D Jones back if reasonable.
ReplyDeleteThe 49ers are expected to target Jonathan Allen in free agency, per
ReplyDeleteBranch.
Going to be interesting to see what his market is.
DeleteGood leader.
The San Francisco 49ers today announced they have claimed CB Tre Tomlinson off waivers from the Los Angeles Rams.
ReplyDeleteNi corner.
DeleteNice pick up on the cheap to compete for the slot CB spot and add depth.
DeleteWoah. Geno Smith traded to the Raiders.
ReplyDeleteI'll miss playing against him twice a year.
Delete🤣
DeleteSeattle expected to sign Sam Darnold.
ReplyDeleteDarnold's glass slipper came off at the end of the season against Detroit and LA. And unfortunately, the raiders don't any WRs the resemble Jefferson.
ReplyDeleteAhhhhh, please dismiss my above comment. I was WAY OFF!
ReplyDeleteChiefs WR Xavier Worthy was arrested in Texas on Friday for assault.
ReplyDeleteDB Kendall Paul (East Texas A&M) Ran 4.27 in the 40 & finished the short-shuttle in 4.02 — which would have been the fastest time of anyone at the combine. Productive defender amassed 7.5 TFLs from the corner spot in ‘24 with 12 PDs.
