ReplyDeleteDo you expect the 9ers to give Mason a second-round tender?
If not, who will carry the load if CMC goes down again?
If Mitchell makes it through camp healthy he will and since his season did not accrue last year, he'll be under contract for $970,000 if not mistaken. I really doubt they'll want to pay Mason $4 million given the depth and quality of this draft at the position.
DeleteMitchell is a UFA. A season on IR accrues a league year.
DeleteTrue! Good point Scooter.
DeleteI was told Mitchell's year did not accrue.
DeleteI can't think of any reason it wouldn't.
DeleteThat being the case I don't see other teams having a strong interest in him so they should get him back at league minimum.
DeleteLombardi told me that awhile ago and I took it at face value.
DeleteHe's maybe getting confused between NFI and IR.
Delete👍
DeleteScooter / Razor
DeleteCorrect me if I'm wrong, but I believe the rule is, if a player is on a team's active roster, injured reserve (IR), or physically unable to perform (PUP) list for at least six games during a season, the player has earned an accrued season?
Sounds about right. Falls in line with Aiyuk if would've held out until week 11 and returned for the final 6 games his season would accrue as well.
DeleteCorrect GEEP.
DeleteMitchell is not even worth a roster spot for me.
DeleteThe chances of him getting injured quickly and SF missing out on more dependable replacement outweigh what he can bring to the table at this point imo.
"If Mitchell makes it through camp healthy."
ReplyDeleteThat is a BIG IF for me! But I agree with you on Mason, too expensive after the 9ers gave CMC a contract extension that makes him the highest-paid RB in the NFL.
ANTHONY BELTON OT, N.C. St. A player that wasn't on my radar,
ReplyDeleteimpressed during Sr. Bowl practices. A 6' 5" X 345-pound O lineman that played both OG and OT all week. He looked like a player that with 9er coaching and a year in the gym, is a potential NFL starter at both spots.
He showed quick footwork, an ability to mirror and neutralize speed and impose his strength. He checked some unexpected boxes during practices and his draft stock is rising.
I really like Mitchell, but he simply cannot be counted on. I have my doubts that he makes it through training camp. If the 49ers draft a RB the question is in which round. Will they wait until day 3, or even go UDFA?
ReplyDeleteIf Skattebo drops to the 4th - 6th rd is he a viable consideration?
You like him. Bobby T loves him.
DeleteThe 49ers have met with Arizona RB Jacory Croskey-Merritt.
ReplyDeleteAccording to Ryan Fowler, the 9ers are not the only team to meet with him. "The offensive MVP of the game, Arizona RB Jacory Croskey-Merritt, met with a long list of NFL teams at the Shrine, including the following."
ReplyDelete• Broncos
• Patriots
• Steelers
• Panthers
• Commanders
• Eagles
• Colts
• Bears
• 49ers
• Packers
After losing the 2024 season due to eligibility questions, I don't believe he's a "SLEEPER" any longer......
ReplyDeleteVirginia Tech Bhayshul Tuten is a 2025 day 3 RB draft prospect the 9ers should take a look at. At 5' 11" X 209, he's projected to run a 4.32s 40. He fits in a zone scheme where he can use his one-cut explosiveness and is day one plug and play kick returner, but will
need time and NFL coaching to clean up his pass protection.

GEEP,
DeleteGood looking out. I saw some video on Tuten and I agree that he would flourish in the Shanahan offense. With Mason likely looking at greener pastures, the RB stall (at the moment) would be CMC, Guerendo, Mitchell, a rookie and possible FA.
the Chiefs have disguised their coverage on 41% of dropbacks vs Jalen Hurts (3 games)
ReplyDeletehighest rate for a Spags defense vs any QB since 2021
they are disguising coverage EVEN MORE than average this postseason (37% reg season ► 46% playoffs, via

The #Rams will play a home game in Australia in 2026 and the #49ers are a potential away opponent, per @MikeGarafolo.
ReplyDeleteI might be paying a visit to Scooter next season.
DeleteOh wow!
DeleteRazor
DeleteIf you know? What city in Australia will the game be played?
Dunno. If I had to guess, Perth?
DeleteUrgh, the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Terrible idea. The stadium is an oval, not a rectangle. They should have gone to Sydney or Brisbane and played at one of the big rectangle stadiums.
DeleteHow far is that from you place Scooter?
DeleteDon't get me wrong - brilliant stadium. Just not the right configuration. Fans are going to be well back from the action, in particular the two end zones. The field is 174 metres in length (190 yards).
DeleteAbout 1,800 km (1,100 miles). Basically Santa Clara to Denver.
DeleteAre there a lot of Niners fans, should we expect it to be like Mexico, essentially a home game?
DeleteIt's a real mix, but I believe there are more 49ers than Rams fans in Australia.
DeleteJust talked to John Chapman and he's planning to go if it happens.
DeleteI expect it should sell out. There's enough interest in Australia now.
DeleteHow many does that stadium hold do you know?
DeleteAround 100,000.
DeleteNo offense Scooter, but I would prefer if they came to Europe.
Delete:D
Ha!
DeleteDamien Martinez, RB, Miami:
ReplyDelete3-year starter; true freshman breakout.
161/982/7 & 194/1185/9 rushing in 2 seasons at Oregon St.
159/1002/10 in final season at Miami.
Efficient as a rusher (6.0+ YPC every season).
Ed McCaffrey provided an update on his son, Christian McCaffrey:
ReplyDelete“He’s doing great. He should be fully healthy this week by next week, and he’ll have a full offseason to train.”
Not sure I trust this... Even if every ounce of the fan in me wants it to be true.
DeleteHe already lost a bit of explosion from his early years, I just hope he hasn't lost too much more going forward.
He sure looked like his explosion returned at Buffalo until his knee hit the frozen turf with all his weight behind it.
DeleteSpags & Chiefs defensive coverage splits when blitzing
ReplyDeletezone blitzes:
#1 pressure rate (51%)
#2 in YPA allowed (6.1)
Chiefs DEF man blitzes:
#26 pressure rate (38%)
#28 YPA allowed (8.3)
Jalen Hurts vs zone blitzes this year:
17% sack rate (worst in NFL)
10 sacks taken
Chase Lundt, RT, UConn on day 3 fits our scheme.
ReplyDeleteRutgers iDL Kyonte Hamilton looks like a dude.
ReplyDeleteFalcons RB Bijan Robinson revealed that he will be training with 49ers Christian McCaffrey in the offseason 👀
ReplyDeleteMiracle Man Spags:
ReplyDelete2023 SB, Spags vs #1 run offense of SF
➡️ Spags held them to 3.6 YPC with a longest rush of 11 yards
2022 SB, Spags vs #1 run offense of PHI
➡️ Spags held them to 2.6 YPC & their top RB to 16 yards total on 7 rushes
Gus Bradley is joining the 49ers coaching staff, per @TomPelissero.
ReplyDeleteGood hire. He and Selah can help tighten up the defense.
ReplyDeleteGet on the bus Gus!
DeleteJon Gruden dropped an absolute BAR in regards to #49ers Brock Purdy 👀
ReplyDelete“They should build a statue of him in San Francisco. He covered their ass, man… He deserves to get paid.”
Baltimore Ravens GM Eric DeCosta says that they use “Madden Ratings” in one of their models to scout players.
ReplyDeleteSafety Julian Blackmon's a free agent this offseason and spent last year playing under Gus Bradley with the Colts. Thoughts?
ReplyDeleteWould make some sense. I don't think the 49ers are going to throw a lot of money at safety so Blackmon is an option I think is realistic. His injury history scares me though.
DeleteAndre Cisco is another I'd be interested in.
Delete$9 million apy is probably doable too.
DeleteYeah, I think they'll be looking to bring in a safety at under $10M a year. So I doubt they'll be players for the likes of Holland or Moehrig.
DeleteThey may even decide to wait until after the draft and see if they can pick up a decent safety for cheap.
I think you're right.
DeleteHere's some notable FAs that the 49ers met with back before their draft year. Would assume if the 49ers had interest then, there is likely some level of interest still.
ReplyDeleteAshtyn Davis, FS, Jets
Najee Harris, RB, Steelers
Teven Jenkins, OG, Bears
Rondale Moore, WR, Falcons
Azeez Ojulari, Edge, Giants
Asante Samuel Jr, CB, Chargers
Jamien Sherwood, LB, Jets
Tommy Tremble, TE/FB, Panthers
Avery Williams, Returner, Falcons
Jenkins is interesting. Depends on how Foerster views Zakelj. Sherwood makes a ton of sense, as well as Tremble. Still think they'll want to add a vet safety to pair with Mustafa, probably on the cheap.
DeleteThis crews old "friend" Grant Cohn is projecting Nolen to 49ers at 11........ if he doesn't go sooner. Perhaps he's following your insights/writings Razor. ;)
ReplyDeleteKiss of death right there, lol.🤦♂️
DeleteNolan has garnered some well deserved attention. But some draft sites have him going in the late 1st rd. Do those sites know something about Nolen that we don't? One current site has 49ers taking Mykel Williams at 11. Matt Maiocco, went off the beaten path and has the 49ers picking TE Tyler Warren with 11. All I know is that between now and April the mock draft sites will change from week to week.
ReplyDeleteI've had Walter Nolen as a top 12 pick since the beginning.
DeleteRazor, are there any concerns you have with Nolen?
DeleteTaking a play off or two.
DeleteAES
DeleteKeep in mind that it's now "LYING SEASON," when there will be things said that's meant to affect where players are drafted.
Believe nothing that you hear and only 1/2 of what you see!
Interesting, razor. My biggest concerns with him are related to how often he ends up on the ground and his technique.
DeleteHe's obviously very athletic, explosive and strong. Possibly elite level athletic traits for a DT, maybe a notch below. But I think he has some issues with balance. But nothing that would stop me taking him at 11.
Technique wise he's very active, but not refined. Relies mostly on his quickness and power to win right now. I see this in some ways as a potential positive though, as he was still able to win so often anyway. He could imo still very much be an ascending player.
I definitely think he's an ascending player.
DeleteI wouldn't be mad if the 49ers went with Nolen at 11. Personally, I believe the 49ers will pounce on a top 3 rated OLman at 11. Perhaps they make a deal with another team and hope other OLman like Armand Membou, Gray Zabel, Josh Conerly Jr, will still be available in the 2nd rd. Anyone of these players would be a nice pick at 43.
ReplyDeleteNolen at 11 would be fine by me. And I very much expect it will be fine by Kocurek.
ReplyDeleteThat, he would.
ReplyDeleteAES / Scooter
ReplyDelete* If Nolen is listed as a mid to late 1st Rd draft pick now, he won't be after the Combine! It wouldn't surprise me if he's a top 10 pick.
* Based on what Kocurek has said about drafting O-lineman, I don't see the 9ers drafting an OT in the 1st Rd. Maybe the 2nd Rd?
I don't *think* he'll go top 10 - there's actually not that many teams in the top 10 I think will prioritise a DT, especiallygiven the depth at the position. But I do think he goes top 17. 21 his absolute floor, with the Steelers.
DeleteTomlin was all over him at the Senior Bowl apparently, and I think the Bengals would be hard pressed to pass him up at 17.
I wouldn't feel comfortable going below 15.
DeleteYeah, I think higher likelihood than not he's a top 15 pick.
DeleteGEEP,
ReplyDeleteI still believe (tho not written in stone) that the 49ers go OL with 11. They need to protect their big investment in Purdy and also have the OL pick seamlessly take over for Trent when thr time comes.
I believe they are still in, "all in" mode, and therein, will go w greatest need for next season, personally.
DeleteI have seen a couple of NFL (supposed ) insiders who say Mason Graham may slip to 11. Not that he is slipping but that the teams in front of the 9ers may have bigger needs than DT. I think I would take Graham over any other player in the draft other than Hunter
ReplyDeleteZierlein has Graham falling to the Niners at 11 and the Cowboys selecting Walter Nolen at 12.
DeleteCoach, I think there's something to those whispers that DTs may slip outside the top 10. I still think Graham goes top 10, but probably the only one imo.
DeleteIn saying that, if Graham falls to 11 I'm taking him. One of the highest floor players in the draft imo. With potential to be very very good.
Coach,
ReplyDeleteI'm leaning at OL at 11, but if Graham there at 11 it's a no brainer for me.
If Johnson is there at 11, is he worth it, coming off the injury? - again, sorry, I don't watch much college ball and don't like the idea of taking injured players early (first 3 rounds).
ReplyDeleteSimmons is the only OT that would fit their scheme and worth that pick, however I just don't see them pulling a Trent Baalke and draft a player who had knee surgery for a torn ACL in October Round 1.
ReplyDelete
