#49ers are scheduled to practice tomorrow and Trent Williams brother, Fred Williams posted to his story of what appears to be Trent boarding a late night flight with caption:
“year 15 let’s get it! ” Could this mean we could be getting Trent Williams news soon?

#49ers perennial All-Pro LT Trent Williams is back in town and ending his holdout. The deal isn’t done, but it’s close enough for Williams to report. Per agent @eliteloyaltysp, a reworked contract is expected.
Real good news.
DeleteHey, you called it Razor. I believe that TW can put in 3-4 more yrs of high level play. I'm waiting to see if the 49ers FO feel the same way.
ReplyDeleteThe 49ers vs Jets line went from 3.5 to 4.5 after the Trent Williams news was announced.
DeleteIn other good news. Maiocco is reporting a possible Oct. 6, return for Pearsall.
ReplyDeleteAES
DeleteMy understanding is Pearsall was taking part in some kind of signing event, what ever that is? My question is, who was promoting this event? If what is being reported is true, that some 17 year old kid with a gun tried to rob him for his Rolex watch, why was there no security provided for him?
Some one needs to be held responsible for Pearsall being shot in the chest, during an attempted robbery!
The signing event was at the Cow Palace. Then, on his own volition, he went to Union Square to buy luggage for the team's road trips. If someone clued him in on the high-end luggage available there, they did right by him because Union Square is a highly policed area.
DeleteMy one big fear now is an under prepared TW goes down Monday night. I wonder how much Moore will play Monday. If you remember Bosa was on a snap count during his first game back after his hold out.
ReplyDeleteYes. I'm wondering what kind of shape big Trent is in.
DeleteOldCoach
ReplyDelete* The good news is, Aiyuk, CMC and TW are all back and should play Monday night against Rodgers and the NY Jets!
* As you point out, are they in football shape? How much will they play, will they be on a snap count? And if they're not in football shape, but do play, whats the chance of injury?
Hopefully, Moore, Mason, Jennings and the other 9er WR's will step up against a good Jets defense and Aiyuk, CMC and TW will be ok
on a snap count.
the bad news is if you have AT&T as provider they are not televising the game not on local tv or on ESPN
DeleteThe 49ers are resigning LT Trent Williams to a 3 year 82.6 million dollar extension with 48 million guaranteed, including a 25.6 million signing bonus, per Elite Loyalty Sports
ReplyDeletePer Williams’ agency: TW's new contract is worth $82.6 million! He also gets $48 million upfront with a $25.69 million signing bonus.
ReplyDeleteSorry Razor, I didn't mean to step on you! I posted before I seen that you had.
Delete* ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that wide receiver Tay Martin was released from the practice squad. Martin was more of a jack-of-all-trades as opposed to a master of any specific one.
ReplyDelete* The 9ers signed WR Terrace Marshall, who is the 9ers reclamation project for this season.
* The 49ers corresponding move was to sign LB DeShaun White to the practice squad.
Still couldn't run the right routes consistently.
DeleteThe #49ers restructured the contract of WR Deebo Samuel, creating $16.4M in cap space, per @FieldYates
ReplyDeleteSo much for those that were certain Deebo was a goner next year.
At some point pushing all these cap hits down the line will come back to bite them.
DeleteThis is very much starting to feel like a 2-3 more year tilt at getting a title (and hopefully more than 1!), then the current stars will start to age out and they can reset the roster around their new core of young guys.
According to Larry Krueger the 49ers are currently 50 mill under this years cap. By rolling over 50 mill along with the yearly increase hopefully the 49ers should be able to stay under next years cap without any serious cuts.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure they have a sophisticated program or at a minimum spreadsheet where they can run some what-if scenarios to keep them within the cap.
DeleteTW says he wants to play until he is 40yo
ReplyDeleteCoach,
ReplyDeleteTrent did not show any signs of decline last season. He is a generational talent which leads me to belive that he can still play effectively at 40 and maybe beyond if he chooses.
Glad to have TW back, that being said, this should be the last contract extension for him. I think his play was declining in the SB.
ReplyDeleteBtw, does anyone know if the Captains have been named for this season? I want to see if Bosa replaces Armsted as a Captain.
Mug,
ReplyDeleteThe 49er would not have been in the SB if not for Williams. There were a couple of other players that had a decline in the SB. I would add Deebo and Purdy to that SB category.
AES,
DeleteTW was not perfect too. He single-handedly killed a drive if IIRC. But you are correct, he was the contributing factor to us being in the SB.
IMHO, this is why we lost the SB....on order of importance:
1) Greenlaw Freak ACL injury. Dude was locking up Kelce. The moment he went out, KC started targeting 3rd LB.
2) Ray-Ray/Luter Jr muffed punt
3) KC DL holding and refs turning a blind eye
4) Our Olinemen letting us down in key 3rd downs (Burford/TW)
5) Forgetting to "run the ball" in 3Q. This is on KS. Maybe he was influenced by point 6
6) CMC fumble in opening drive.
Anyway, new season now. I hope we overcome SB Loss fatigue/hangover.
Mug,
DeleteGood breakdown. There definitely was blame to go around. A better block from Burford on Chris Jones in OT may have provided the breathing room for Purdy to throw winning TD pass to Jennings.
Aaarrrg!
Here is my list of plays that killed our SB chances in no order.
ReplyDeleteBurford's blown block in overtime
CMC's fumble
Moodys blocked PAT
Botched punt
Greenlaw's injury
Refs not calling O holding (that seems to happen in all SBs) but they still called one on the 9ers
This one didn't happen in the SB but still cost them dearly in the SB Hufanga' injury
Any one of those plays or situations go the other way and we win the SB
Shanahan's OT decision?
DeleteGeo,
DeleteThat certainly was a big reason they lost
☹ ☹ ☹
DeleteYup!
