Contract Sticking Point

3yrs/28m=84 total with 40% gtd=33.6m

27m signing bonus=9m/yr prorated, 6m gtd base

4rs/28m=112 total with 40% gtd=44.8m

36m signing bonus=9m/yr prorated, 9m gtd base

Dead money for 2025=18m with the 3yr deal

Dead money for 2025=27.8m with the 4yr deal

The reason the Niners want the 3 year deal is so they can restructure Deebo next year if he's able to stay healthy. That's where the contract negotiations are right now and this could be the hill that Marathe is willing to die on. How do you guys see it?

  1. I was hoping 4yrs at 31-33M. But if AB continues to ascend the way he has over the last two years that seems to be workable. As much as I love Deebo he has been a little bit of a non factor in the playoffs when the team needs him. Between the two very good WRs, it's Aiyuk for me.

  2. I'm being told Aiyuk is at practice and doing sprints on a side field 🔥

Broken pinky for Aaron Banks that requires surgery — the 49ers hope that he can return by Week 1. Nick Zakelj lined up in Banks' place at LG today. Jon Feliciano and Spencer Burford are both still out

    1. The 49ers should give in and trade Aiyuk for 2025 draft picks only. They need to go into the 25 draft with as many round 2-4 draft picks as possible. They can use the extra picks to move up in the draft and draft 2 high O line picks. 2 OTs or an OT and a OG or possibly a OT and a C.

  6. I would have been happy w the Browns deal........ Pit deal reputedly includes Pickens......... I suspect the 49ers want to be, "all-in" to get the Lombardi having come so close over the years, but as Coach alludes to, those draft picks to sustain success are critical- and I suspect Lenoir and/or Ward will potentially be gone soon as well.

    1. Mug,
He better get used to it. If they don't sign TW soon things could get much worse.

    2. Yeah....unwatchable. Left side of the OLine especially.

On the other hand, rookies playing well. Green, Puni and Cowing all having worthy snaps.

    3. Except for one bad pass from Dobbs, Bell has not made the most of his opportunities this preseason. He needs to step-up ASAP or find himself on a thin bubble.

    4. AES,
I think he may be gone already. I see the 6 WRs being Deebo, Aiyuk, Jennings, Conley, Cowing and Pearsall. I see either Bell or Taylor on the PS

  8. The OL once again looks like the weakest unit on the team. The biggest problem is money, Niners have so many players deserving a piece of the pie it doesn't leave much room for improving the OL. The draft is currently the only way to get the talent that is needed for improvement. We all know the draft is a crap shoot so.......

  9. Coach,
Do you think Danny Gray sticks for another year? He was drafted to help Lance with the deep pass and with Lance long gone is he still a viable option?
