Drake Jackson goes on PUP and will not count against the 53 man roster. Expect a move to bring in a F/A defensive end. Not much out there but I'd look at Rasheem Green or Carl Lawson. Who do guys think it'll be?

They seem to have much better depth at DT than DE. Is there any chance they will carry 6DTs and 4 DEs? I think Austin Bryant could fill a rotational pass rusher spot. I would like to see them give Sam Okuayyinonu a good look.
ReplyDeleteYou typically want 5 DE's and 5 DT's.
ReplyDeleteDE Drake Jackson goes on PUP!!!!
ReplyDelete2024 will be a make or break year for Jackson. Going on PUP is NOT a good start for the season, IMO, if the 9ers do not cut him, it's because they have no one better to replace him.
* Monday was the first practice with pads The O-line was missing TW, Brendel, Feliciano, and Burford. TW has a contract issue, Feliciano has a knee issue and Burford a broken hand, which will sideline him for a few weeks. Also missing from the offense was CMC and Kittle.
ReplyDeleteThe D-line overpowered the O-line and forced multiple INT's. BP threw
an early interception intended for Logan Thomas with Isaac Yiadom in coverage. Warner intercepted the ball on a tip drill in the red zone. Later, Purdy threw an interception to Lenoir, who made a great play on the ball. The 3rd int. was the ugliest, as BP faced pressure and looked to hit Deebo in the red zone. The pass was intercepted by Odum.
Purdy had incompletions to Conley and Jennings. The first pass was too high, while the latter was a 50-50 ball to the slot receiver that was broken up by Renardo Green. He worked with the top defense in the slot on the rep.
* Josh Dobbs had the best success, as he hit Jauan Jennings for a short touchdown in a tight window for the lone score over the first three rotations on offense. But, all 3 quarterbacks had incompletions as the defense dominated the initial period.
* With CMC out, Mason took the first reps at RB. He and Mitchell were constantly rotating throughout the day. Mason continues to run with a style of aggression. His burst stands out as well, leading him to be the top choice for the RB2 role at the moment. KS praised Mason for his style of running, pointing out the difference between him and the veteran Mitchell. Schrader impressed with a run up the middle in the red zone where he powered through and ran hard.
* The D-line was the story of the day for the 9ers as pads came on, providing a better judge of trench play. The front had constant pressure on the QB's, regardless of which team was on the field and made it difficult to get any momentum on the day.
Hargrave was in the backfield on several occasions when running with the top defense, while the group overall attacked both the edges and the interior.
After a solid start from the offense during the run install, the defense locked down in all of the red zone periods, as well as the later team periods, and that came without Nick Bosa or Charvarius Ward on the field.
I don't think I'd want to be Dameon Pierce and look my coach in the eye.
ReplyDeleteThis is an interesting stat. But, it seems like a variety of reasons are involved. Is the Oline underachieving? Is the RB following his lead blockers? Is the RB playing against a high tier defense? Is the RB hesitant in hitting the hole? Is the head coach gambling on 4th down against a stacked defensive front? When it comes to stats, many of them are dependent on other players and game situations.
ReplyDeleteSince taking over as the Chiefs starter, Mahomes has had 53 interceptions called back by penalty, the next closest in that span is Josh Allen with 7.
ReplyDeleteWow that number doesn't sound right but if it is I wonder if it is part of Mahomes incredible game awareness. Is he aware of defensive penalties like off side and others so knowing the Int won't count he forces high risk high reward passes.
ReplyDeleteI was thinking the same.
DeleteAnother interesting stat to go along with Razor's stat. Team with the most Ints nullified by penalty over the last 5 years.

Brock Purdy on 20+ yard throws in 2023:
ReplyDelete🚀 99.9 passing grade (1st)
🚀 11 touchdowns (1st)
🚀 1 interception
It's one of the reasons why he is number 28 in the NFL top 100.
