Whats the difference between the PUP and the IR? I think if Schrader looks good in the preseason he will get scooped if they try to get him through waivers. I see Anderson making the 53 and either Givens or Davis being put on the PS if they can get them through.
ReplyDeleteThe new IR rule is you can go on and return without taking up a roster spot first. I think on PUP you get 6 weeks and if you don't return you go on IR.

ReplyDeleteI agree with your 53 with the exceptions of WR Grey and DE Jackson. I see Bell replacing Grey For the Practice Squad and Austin Bryant replacing Jackson, who may be go to the PS, but he could be cut.
ReplyDeletePractice Squad: I won't disagree with you, but will wait for the preseason to see who I think gets cut and who makes the PS.
Nice.
DeleteReport: Aiyuk, 49ers ‘no closer to a deal' after positive meeting.....
ReplyDeletehttps://sports.yahoo.com/report-aiyuk-49ers-no-closer-211923439.html
* My guess is the 9ers have offered Aiyuk an extension of 5 years, $133 Mil with $85 - $90 guaranteed, $70 Mil front loaded.
His annual salary would be ~$12.6 Mil.
* I suspect Aiyuk is holding out for something close to a 5 year
extension worth $150 MIL. ($30 Mil P/Y)
* Anyone else care to venture a guess what the $$ Numbers are?
Razor: What's your reason for preferring Allen to Dobbs as QB2?
ReplyDeleteI think Shanahan will trust Allen and be able to operate the offense without compromise over Dobbs.
Delete13 days until rookies report. Lets hope the Bay Area cools down by then. If it hasn't it will be like Rocklin all over again.
ReplyDeletePFF latest O line rankings has the 49ers at #24. WOW that is one bad O line
ReplyDeleteI don't think the OL is that bad at all. Foerster's done great work keeping it where it needs to be to give them SB chances. If you're drafting at the end of round 1 you're not finding an elite OL prospect. They have to continue to develop the Moore's or whoever they think can ultimately step in for Williams over the course of the 3 years he's got left.
DeleteRazor: QUESTION
DeleteDo you think Chris Hubbard could replace McKivits at RT?
Hubbard strengths: Excellent at run blocking and movement. He fits KS ZBS system. Ran a 4.71s 40 at Alabama work out. He's very good at getting to the 2nd level (Outside zone run ++).
Weakness: Pass blocking
NOTE: Improving the RG (Puni ?) will help who ever is playing RT
Possible but they really like McKivitz and paid him like it. Remember he is a gold helmet draft pick who completed his first year starting at RT. I think that coupled with a better Center or RG might help him out too.
DeleteWhat's interesting is the fact the Niners were tied for fifth with Detroit allowing the least number of sacks. What is strange is the fact that the Niners were giving up 2.3 sacks at home and 1.5 away. I agree with Razor in the fact that the OL isn't that bad.
DeleteAnd if they don't find one by the time Williams retires they can look to F/A and/or move up in the draft.

DeleteKeep your eye on these 2 college OT's
LSU OT Emery Jones
Height: 6-6. Weight: 322.
Projected 40 Time: 5.10.
Projected Round in 2025 draft: 2nd Rd.
Jonah Savaiinaea, OT, Arizona
Height: 6-5. Weight: 320.
Projected 40 Time: 5.10.
Projected Round in 2025 draft: Late 2nd Rd.
Savaiinaea is a quick blocker with athleticism and agility on the edge. His best NFL fit is in a zone blocking system.
Thanks!

I believe that the 49ers being in the top 7 of least sacks has far more to do with BP and Shanahans play calling than the O line.
DeleteTypically sacks are on the qb and pressures ol. Purdy's elite reactionary quickness mitigates pressure, along with Shanahan's play calling which is why Foerster went into detail on where the ol needs to be in order to compete for a SB.
