  1. 49ers sign OT Chris Hubbard. Hubbard started 9 games for the Titans last year before being injured.

The #49ers have signed FA OT Chris Hubbard to a 1-year, $1.375M deal, source said. Added veteran depth.

  3. Who's getting cut to make room for Brown and Hubbard, Parker OT and McGill DT?

  4. The Jets game already making me nervous. They have an outstanding defense and a QB that knows how to win with less than stellar playmakers.

    1. Lot of things can change from here on to the actual game.

On paper, Jets might make us nervous, but we should be on point for the home opener, under the bright lights.

  5. It will be an interesting game, not just because of Rodgers. Selah has a pretty good insight on the 49ers offense and will have a D game plan.

Off topic. The 49ers and Saints will have joint practices in So. Cal leading up to their preseason game. Hypothetical
question, but if a teams can practice hundreds of miles away from their own facilities, why couldn't the 49ers practice at a better site before the SB? In the words of the great Vince Lombardi, "what the hell is going on out there!"

  6. When I was looking at the 24 schedule earlier I was giving the 9ers a W for the Jets game. Now that I know its the first game of the year i'm not so sure. KS's teams don't play well early in the year. I also don't like the 9ers having a short week in the second week of the season before what will likely be a road game.

    1. OC, they didn't play well with JG and Lance as the starting QB. Last year with Purdy starting they opened the season well. Let's hope that continues.

    2. I recall several people exclaiming how Tomlin was a better HC than Shanahan and that the Steelers game was a loss too. Jets were my best case scenario for a season opener.

    3. Depends how you measure the bar. If the ultimate goal is winning Superbowl's, than Tomlin two rings cannot be debated when compared to Shanahan. If you are comparing their record over the last 7 years, it's Shanahan hands down.

    4. Correction, Tomlin has 1 win and 1 loss.

    5. Tomlin was not the better coach opening day 2023.

    6. Shanahan doesn't have a clean opening day record either. It comes down to SB wins for me. No one will deny that Belicheck is the best head coach in the modern era, but he couldn't get by Tim Coughlin. Again, it depends on what bar you measure head coaches by. 49ers are measured by SB wins, just ask Jed York.

  8. Signing Hubbard now I think tells us some things about what the 49ers draft hopes/ plans were too. I strongly suspect they were hoping to get Rosengarten in round 2 (which is not new info - this was also reported immediately after it happened).

But they also obviously didn't feel so strongly that they had to get him that they were willing to move heaven and earth to move up and get him.

    1. Decent signing considering the position and timing. Probably the best you could hope for really.

  9. Two Thursday night games. Week 6 at Seattle and Week 15 vs Rams, based on schedule leaks....so chances are the bye week will be the week preceding that.

So Bye week at Week 5 (too early) or Week 14 (too late). Not ideal.

Gameday Live Week 4: Patriots vs 49ers
