Credit Where Credit Is Due
John Lynch revealed who were the staff members credited with finding Brock Purdy. Steve Slowik, Bobby's brother was the regional scout that pushed him initially and then Brian Griese became convicted after the zoom conferences he was tasked with by Lynch and Shanahan. Interesting no mention of Adam Peters to the dismay of his many fans. For the life of me I never understood why Peters chose Quinn after striking out with the Lions OC instead of going after Bobby Slowik. It's comforting to know that Steve and Brian remain on staff and hopefully we can retain them for many more years to come.

Gameday Week 10: Seahawks vs 49ers
Sounds as if Kittle is out for this game and Williams will likely play. Can Eric Saubert step up and fill some of that void? I think he ca...

The stench of the last game is still in my nostrils. Will the 49ers clear the air? Not if they don't start making tackles. Not if they...

I never knew that Peters had a fan club.
ReplyDeleteThere's quite a few of them out there. I really liked this draft so if not missing Peters is wrong, I don't wanna be right.
DeleteMore than Brock Purdy, I want to know who pounded the table for Trey Sermon and TDP. :)
ReplyDeleteDraft is hit or miss...and Peters was not perfect. I remember reading he was the guy who was really enamored with Ambry Thomas.
In Washington, Peters will be defined by how the Jayden Daniels pick goes. I like the Newton pick though. Best of luck to Peters.
I'm just glad that we have JL for many more years to come. It is great for the players to have a GM who has played in the league and understand their perspective.
Newton had the broken 5th metatarsal which is prone to keep breaking:
DeleteMany surgeons agree that fifth metatarsal stress fractures have a tendency toward delayed union, nonunion, and possibly refracture. Difficulty healing seems to be correlated with fracture classification. However, refracture sometimes occurs after low-grade fracture, even long after apparent resolution.
I wouldn't have touched him before day 3.
Mug,
DeleteAs to "having JL for many more years to come" Gregg Papa has said a number of times that he thinks JL will retire if and when the 9ers win a SB.
Razor,
DeleteI thought either Darius Robinson or Newton will be 1st round pick for us, considering the run on OLinemen in the 1st round. Time will tell on Newton's efficacy. :)
Old Coach,
Did you see JL's interview with Pat McAfee recently? Some interesting tidbits on how he got the GM Job. Seems like he cold called KS. The reason he left broadcasting was he missed Football/winning and being around players. So I don't think he will leave if and when we win an SB.
I was under the impression that the draft was ascribed to Lynch as the GM with Shanahan as a major contributer. Peters was an understudy to Lynch. I doubt that he signed off on any drafted or UDFA players.
ReplyDeleteJust saw NFL.com released their projection of comp picks for next year's draft. They have 49ers getting 3 picks (rounds 3, 5 and 7).
ReplyDeleteI'd forgotten we still had one more 3rd round comp pick coming from the Ryans/ Carthon round of hiring. Nice to get that extra day 2 pick.
Scooter,
DeleteThats better than I thought it would be.
That's good news. At the moment it looks like the 49ers have their 1st, 2nd and now two 3rd, 5th and 7rd picks. Not bad
ReplyDeleteNicely done Steve Slowik and Brian Griese.
