Good afternoon everyone and welcome to the live blog of the much anticipated showdown between the San Francisco 49ers and the Philadelphia Eagles. The concerns over rain affecting the game seem to have discipated as the forecast for kickoff is cloudy and dry with temperatures in the 50's. I expect the 49ers to play their game and get out to an early lead with the Eagles attempting a 4th quarter comeback, but ultimately running out of gas. Their defense has been on the field for over 164 snaps the past two weeks, and they'll be missing their best cover LB, Zach Cunningham. The Eagles struggle to defend the middle of the field and their edges looked porous against the Bills running game. Purdy will need to get rid of the ball quickly to nullify the Eagles pass rush where they have a distinct advantage in the middle and on the right side. The 49ers come into this game with a 3 day rest advantage, preparation and hunger to prove last years NFC Championship game was an aboration. Stop Swift, make Hurts beat you from the pocket, shut down Brown/Smith, just as they were able to do last year, and the 49ers should win this game by 10 points or more. 27-17 San Francisco. Go Niners!
49ers Inactives:
QB Brandon Allen (3rd QB)
RB Ty Davis-Price
DE Robert Beal Jr.
WR Ray-Ray McCloud
OL Ben Bartch
TE Brayden Willis
LB Jalen Graham
Not impressed with the play calling at this point. Purdy looks tense. Defense bending but still keeping them to two field goals.
ReplyDeleteNeed to come out after halftime and drive for another TD, and amp up the pressure on Siriani's college offense.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a good play too me.
Deletegood plan...
DeleteStupid play Greenlaw.
ReplyDeleteDude shouldn't put his hands on Greenlaw.
DeleteAfter the 13th week the Niners are the best team with the best QB in the NFL.
ReplyDeleteThat *should* shut the Eagles and their fans up for a bit. Probably won't though. Let's see how much boo-hoo'ing they do.
ReplyDeleteI think we can now say Deebo Samuel backed up his trash talk...........
ReplyDeleteAND THEN SOME!
Deebo scored his 3Rd TD of the game, this one on a 46-yard screen pass with 5:19 left in the 4Th Qtr. He now has 138 total yards, 1 rushing TD and 2 through the air. All 3 have displayed his unique playmaking ability......Eagles 19.....Deebo 21.......9ers 42
Razor,
ReplyDeleteYou saw this game a day before it actually took place when you had the 49ers winning by at least 10 pts. Good call!
Deebo backed up his trash talk and I like that Jennings became an important target as well. The run blocking was dominating and gave Brock the time he needed to make throws to the tune 4 TD passes.
The 49ers are the best team in football.
What a dominant Team performance!
ReplyDeleteIf we play like this, there is no team that can stand against us. We literally curb stomped the Eagles and that too in just 3 quarters.
The first two drives had me sick....but what a turnaround. I would call this the best win of the Shanahan Era....the 2019 NFC game is significant but we didn't trail at all in that game. The grit showed by this team was championship caliber!
The only thing we need to do, is not think we have the Superbowl and take this a week at a time. Go Niners!
They need to sit Armstead until he is 100%. He is key to them winning in the playoffs. If they can get the #1 seed and the bye they will make the SB. This team plays so much better with a little extra rest.
ReplyDeleteThe foot won't heal without a significant amount of rest. It's all about pain management at this point.
DeleteRevisiting #49ers QB Brock Purdy's yards/attempt this year. He's now at an absurd 9.6 YPA, a yard more than the next closest QB.
ReplyDeleteThat's the most through a team's first 12 games in NFL history (min. 300 attempts). The four players behind him -- Aaron Rodgers 2011, Peyton Manning 2004, Boomer Esiason 1988, Dan Marino 1984 all won league MVP.
QB Brock Purdy has four games with at least 3 TD passes and a passer rating of 140-or higher this season. That's tied with Tom Brady (2007) and Aaron Rodgers (2011) for the most such games by a quarterback in a season in NFL history.
ReplyDeleteRich Eisen best describes Purdy - Bambi with fangs.
DeleteHa! That's golden
DeleteBrock Purdy when blitzed by the Eagles yesterday:
ReplyDelete10-10, 213 yards, 3 TD, perfect 158.3 passer rating
Note to self, Don't blitz Purdy
DeleteRazor,
DeleteHave you heard that Armstead's injury is plantar faciitis? All I have Heard so far is foot pain.
Underrated story of this season is what Wilks is doing with our DBs.

Look at the sticky coverage from the DBs. Man deserves credit for what he has done. Major props!
Great team win. The 49ers are putting it all together at the right time. The 3 game losing streak proved one thing - that this is the best team in the NFL when all it's key players are on the field. Yesterday proved that.
ReplyDeleteIf the 49ers can stay healthy at key positions during the rest of the season they should punch their ticket for the Superbowl.
