ReplyDeleteThe surprise for me is Isaiah Oliver. Was a liability on the field in the preseason games. Instead, we could've kept one of the linebackers out of McCrary-Ball or Curtis Robinson.
Glad that all rookies made it. Latu and Taylor Hawkins stashed for 2024.
I would love to have these players on the PS (hopefully):
D'Shawn Jamison, Chris Conley, McCrary-Ball, Curtis Robinson, Ilm Manning, Marlon Davidson, Qwantrezz Knight, Kerry Hyder, Austin Bryant, Isaiah Winstead, Leroy Watson, Tay Martin, Jason Poe, Myles Hartsfield, Alex Barrett and Jack Colleto
I think Zakelj gets bumped off for Bosa, and last I heard, both Ray Ray and Gray are expected to return sometime in September. I don't anticipate either going on IR.
DeleteDang it!
ReplyDeleteD'Shawn Jamison and Ilm Manning claimed by Panthers and Cardinals respectively.
Between the Bills and the 49ers, you'd be hard pressed to find a better roster.
DeleteTrue.
DeleteJets poached MMB and Jason Poe and signed them to their Practice Squad.
Gray to IR
ReplyDeleteBeal to IR
ReplyDeleteI'm beginning to think that Bosa's agent must be asking for a large amount of fully guaranteed money (guaranteed at signing), e.g, north of $80M. That would need Jed to sign a $80M check to escrow -- something Paraag is going to fight tooth and nail to reduce. That's not the kind of contracts the Niners sign. I won't be shocked if Bosa misses the first game. I hope not, though.
ReplyDeleteIf he wants 5 years @ 150 mill fully guaranteed I'd do that deal in a heartbeat.
DeleteI'm referring to the part guaranteed at signing where the team owner has to cough up the money right away.
DeleteThe highest guaranteed-at-signing amount for a non-QB is $78m by brother Joey. $150M guaranteed at signing would put Nick over Justin Herbert and Lamar Jackson. Jed will be pleased to have you sign that check on behalf of the Niners 😆

Actually, T. J. Watt got $80M guaranteed at signing -- beating out Joey Bosa. Nick's probably looking for $90M or so.
DeleteI thought Myles Garrett got just over 100 mill guaranteed.
DeleteI expect a very successful season, in fact, as crazy as it might sound, I think if the Niners win their first two games they go undefeated during the regular season. Baring significant injuries that is. Also, they can win without Bosa they just don't know it.
ReplyDeleteAnxious to get the party started.
DeleteHargrave should make a difference. Also Ferrell and Bryant on the edge. Really looking forward to Mason as a pass catcher.
DeleteAfter getting limited production opposite Bosa last year, I REALLY hope they get him signed and on the field to practice this week- Pit should be a formidable foe
DeleteDlptown, at this stage, if he isn't signed come the start of first practice this week, I doubt he plays anyway.
DeleteAlso... 49ers are notorious slow starters... I think Steelers will be a tough one to win regardless.
Bosa signs in the tunnel and plays. I think Watt did essentially the same thing for Pittsburg.
DeleteAlso, Wilk's defense is an unknown compared to when Ryans took over (i.e. not much change from Saleh). To beat PIT, I think the offense is going to have to play very well.
DeleteI'm excited for this season.
ReplyDeleteI think Shanahan doesn't toss out compliments easily. The fact that he says Purdy is the best Rookie QB he has ever had (over RGIII, Kirk Cousins, CJ Beathard, Johnny Manziel) means he will support his QB and ensure that his QB looks good. The heat he took for Lance trade should also light a fire under his butt. So we will probably see the best version of Shanny this season.
Bummed out about Bosa. Steelers are going to be a handful even with Bosa. Mike Tomlin is a heck of a coach, Top3 imho. Won't be surprised if we lose (maybe by a last second FG?), but its not the end of the world.
Compelling storylines all around...will Bosa sign before the season? Kicker drama? how does the Defense look with/without bosa? Will the Oline holdup? Will Purdy overcome Sophomore slump?
Can't wait for Sunday!!
28-17 Niners
