The 49ers have a total of 9 draft picks but not a one in the first round.
#15 **ALERT** Philadelphia has traded for Deebo Samuel sending pick #18 as well. With pick #15 the 49ers select:
Drake London 6'4" 219 lbs., USC 33" arms, 9 3/8" hands, Elite high pointer that thrives above the rim. Supreme ball instincts when tracking it in the air. Creates space along the boundary for bucket catches. Reminds me of Mike Evans. Has the frame to get bigger and stronger with room to grow into a more diverse route runner. Should be a great downfield target to pair with Aiyuk for the young phenom, Trey Lance. Curiously enough, the 49ers had a representative at his Pro Day even though he's projected in the top 15.
NFL teams in attendance for Drake London’s Pro Day: 49ers, Cardinals, Panthers, Chargers, Chiefs, Colts, Commanders, Eagles, Jets, Lions, Texans, and Titans
With pick #18 the 49ers select:
Tyler Linderbaum 6'2" 296 lbs., Iowa 31 7/8" arms, 10" hands, Looking for the next Alex Mack? Durable (35 consecutive starts) Rimington Award winning center that's about as good as it gets in the ZBS running game. Consistency in pass pro is where his focus should be due to length limitations, especially if his initial punch doesn't hit home. He's got powerful hands to latch, grab, drive and finish with a junk yard dog mentality until the whistle. Doesn't have position versatility and sprained his foot in January. 1st round grade.
With pick #61 the 49ers select:
Bryan Cook 6'1" 206 lbs., Cincinnati 31 7/8" arms, 8 1/2" hands, After a run on safeties and edge rushers this kid is a nice consolation prize. I'd expect him to win a starting role at either SS or NB. Has the alpha gene that's been sorely missing in the secondary. Impact plays, 5 tackles for loss, 1 sack, 2 INT's and 9 pass deflections in 2021. I think he's the perfect fit for Ryans' system as that back end chameleon. Late 2nd/early 3rd round grade.
**TRADE** 49ers trade #93+#220 with the Raiders for #86
With pick #86 the 49ers select:
Deangelo Malone 6'3" 243 lbs., Western Kentucky 33 3/8" arms, 10 1/8" hands, 4.45 Forty, 1.60 Ten Yard Split, 35 1/2" Vertical, 9'11" Broad Jump, 4.36 Short Shuttle, 7.06 Three Cone, 23 Bench Press, Speed rusher who owns two CUSA Defensive POY awards, WKU's sack record with 34, and finished the season with 17.5 TFL, 9 sacks, 94 tackles, 4 PBU's and 4 FF's; all in 14 starts. He's a situational pass rusher in 2022 until he gets stronger in the running game. 3rd round grade.
**TRADE** 49ers trade #103+#221 with the Broncos for #96
With pick #96 the 49ers select:
Joshua Williams 6'3" 195 lbs., Fayetteville 33" arms, 10" hands, 4.51 Forty, 37" Vertical, 10'4" Broad Jump, 6.95 Three Cone, 11 Bench Press, Intriguing short year project similar to how Thomas ascended beginning mid-season. Has the NFL foundational traits to be successful in any type of coverage. There will be an adjustment period but we have the depth to allow for it. 3rd round grade.
With pick #134 the 49ers select:
Khalia Davis 6'1" 302 lbs., UCF 33 3/4" arms, 9 5/8" hands, We lost Jones but Davis is a similar prospect that needs technical refinement and a year of NFL nutritional programs. His first step is ultra quick with the ability to redirect and burst towards the ball carrier. I think Kocurek could develop him into a versatile, consistent force of disruption by next year, and would fit his system like a glove. Round 4 or 5 grade.
With pick #172 the 49ers select:
Velus Jones Jr., 6' 204 lbs., Tennessee 30 7/8" arms, 9 3/4" hands, 4.31 Forty, Special teams magician and earned SEC Special Teams Player Of The Year 2021. YAC specialist whose strengths in the passing game are limited to screens, sweeps and other catch and go routes as of right now. 5th or 6th round grade.
With pick #187 the 49ers select:
Ty Chandler 5'11" 204 lbs., North Carolina 32 1/8" arms, 9" hands, 4.38 Forty, Multi-dimensional soft handed back that has an extra burst through 2nd and 3rd level holes. One fumble in two years. Has kick return ability and experience. Not the most elusive or creative but he's got speed and good contact balance. 6th round grade.
With pick #262 the 49ers select Mr. Irrelevant:
Carson Wells 6'2" 241 lbs., Colorado 32 5/8" arms, 9 1/2" hands, 4.59 Forty, Has some talent. If he ever is able to tie together his upper body timing with his first step quickness, he'll be catching blockers in compromising situations. Until then, he's just Mr. Irrelevant and has a 7th round grade. I thought about going with Jed's 4th cousin twice removed, Cade York, K, LSU but I didn't want to tarnish Robbie's Gould.
Solid mock but i would taken Linderbaum with #15 and with #18 i would try to trade down a couple of slots and select Christian Watson and why? Cuz he has the connection with Trey just like Burrow and Chase that can be very deadly for a Offense.
ReplyDeleteAlso Watson also is a good returner and can play multiple spots and has a strong work ethic this fits our culture.
Thanks, Robber. I'm not as high on Watson as I am some of the other wr's in this draft. I get the familiarity aspect but Burrow and Chase are generational talents.
DeleteI'm not convinced that is robber....
DeleteAnd yeah, no way on Watson that high for me. But if this is who I think it is posting I am not surprised you like him. Very Myles Boykin like vibes.
Great mock, Razor.
DeleteLynch would deserve a pat on the back for that one.
Regarding the trade for the Eagles: seems like the wide receiver market aligns with pics 18 and 51, rather than two first round picks, wouldn’t you agree?
Chris, I appreciate it. I approached the trade from the perspective that the only way would be for a team to make me an offer I couldn't refuse. This is the only mock I plan on doing. It was fun but after thinking it over, I feel like the two sides will come together at the midnight hour; Deebo stays in San Francisco.
DeleteRazor,
DeleteFair enough. Won’t hear me complaining if 2 1sts are the offer.
Nice one razor. If the 49ers do end up trading Deebo, getting London and Linderbaum in return is a nice consolation.
ReplyDeleteAlso, Cook at 61 just makes too much sense. I suspect the team will have Brisker as the guy they would ideally get, but very unlikely he lasts that long, with Cook as their next guy.
DeleteIn terms of edge rusher... I have a sneaky suspicion the team may like Myjai Sanders around the 3rd round. Not 100% sure what it is that makes me think that, very much a gut feel. Just seems pretty similar to a few guys the team has added recently.
Thanks. Yea, Linderbaum is about as safe as it gets and London's downfield ball skills could be Lance's best friend.
DeleteScooter, regarding Cook I couldn't agree more. They'd prefer Brisker but they "settle" for the next guy up.
DeleteI liked Sanders. I guess I had higher expectations for him this year and so I was somewhat disappointed in the year he had. Wouldn't surprise me if they went that route.
If the 49ers do trade Deebo, exploring a trade for Toney wouldn't be the worst idea. I know there are a lot of behind the scenes concerns with Toney, but he's a talent and has some similar run after catch ability as Deebo.
ReplyDeleteCaveat being though that I would not trade much for him. Any team willing to give up on a 1st rounder after one season, especially when the player actually contributed to a moderate degree as a rookie, is not worth taking a risk on with any significant draft capital. Any more than a day 3 pick is too big a risk.
Would also add N'Keal Harry as a trade option.
DeleteAcquiring either would not change team plans on drafting a WR.
Scooter why do you think that?
ReplyDeleteWhy you get the impression that its not me?
And why i prefer Watson is cuz he is a legit mismatch, and underrated cuz he played for NDSU.
The black type on your name is a little suspicious - avoiding signing in to post is the main way 49reasons has been trying to get posts through. And Watson is exactly the type of receiver he would be pushing for.
DeleteAdd that with posts made under the name robber previously have been the only ones defending 49reasons.
But I am not 100% convinced either way as yet, so will give you the benefit of the doubt.
WRT to Watson, he's the epitome of the trap teams fall for in terms of height/weight/speed guy at WR. Has all the physical tools you could ask for, and unsurprisingly used those tools to look dominant at times at NDSU against much lesser competition, though also never produced at a high level. But he is very much all athlete atm. Not a good WR. Doesn’t do a lot of basic WR things well, in particular with his route running and hands catching. For all his athleticism he doesn't know how to set DBs up or create separation and he drops a lot of passes. He's a much bigger project than is being advertised. And as such there is no way I would be taking him high - way too big a risk despite the athletic upside.
And his burst is also great.
ReplyDeleteMaybe a bit more developing of his route tree.
Cuz my name is in black hmmm, i just log in and that's it.
ReplyDeleteNormally Razor can see my ip adress i guess.
When i find someone his opinion solid than i defend him, and especially when its about Trey vs Jimmy.
Or decisions that are questionable.
Ok i will respect this.
Maybe but we defer a bit hehe.
His burst and work rate is top notch.
For a big WR his separation seems allright.
He only had 2 drops in 2021.
