Sounds as if Kittle is out for this game and Williams will likely play. Can Eric Saubert step up and fill some of that void? I think he ca...
IS THERE TROUBLE IN PARADISE?
ReplyDeleteTB QB Tom Brady talked with Antonio Brown, before the WR shed his jersey and waled off the field during a TB drive.

Dudes a nutcase.
DeleteIm stoked to see the Treyminator throws a TD to The Braveyuk!
ReplyDelete40 on the ground. 20-25 through the air. Go Niners!
ReplyDeleteLA Lams CB Jalen Ramsey got into a fight during Sunday’s game but not with his opponent, Baltimore. Ramsey went after his teammate. Not even three minutes into the game, Ramsey shoved Rams safety Taylor Rapp in the face.

Lams QB Stafford, throws 2 more picks against Baltimore, one a pick 6.
Titans use max protect (7 blockers) fifth most times in the league this season.
ReplyDeleteThe team that use sixth most max protect plays? The Texans. However, they don't have Brown and Jones and hence have one of the lowest EPA/play on those plays.
I thought Lance should have given on both of those runs that led to the 4th down. Would love to hear what Shanahan thought on those.
ReplyDeleteThe completion to Aiyuk to get this drive going was nice, but he made it much harder than it needed to be. No need for him to start scrambling. Would like to see him remain a little calmer in the pocket.
ReplyDeleteGame is much too close for my liking. Defense needs to continue to be stellar. No mistakes across the field.
ReplyDeleteThis is playing out very similarly to Lance's first start. Can't finish drives to take advantage of strong play by the D.
DeleteI tried to tell you, Scooter.
DeleteIt's gonna be up to the defense to win this game.
ReplyDeleteJust so you guys know ... I didn't just wake up one day and decide I no longer felt like Kyle was the right man for the 49ers. In fact, I was once one of Kyle's most vocal supporters.
ReplyDeleteI only came to this conclusion through what has been a long, painful process, 4+ years in the making!
Interception, defense can't hold, bad omen.
ReplyDeleteThis is a joke!
ReplyDeleteThe 49ers offense looks like they are playing their first preseason game of the season, and that's 100% on Kyle Shanahan at this point. They were supposed to insulate themselves from Jimmy's undependability this season, and Kyle has actually done the opposite!
Kyle needs to go!
Trade him for a bundle this offseason, and bring in a HC who actually has some enthusiasm in regards to developing Trey Lance, because this isn't it!
Lance is late on just about every throw, if KS is guilty of anything it's the quality of the draft pick and that is yet to be determined.
DeleteAlternative take, maybe Shanahan was right and Lance isn't ready.
DeleteOf course Lance isn't ready. That's what I've been saying. Kyle and John had ONE job this last offseason, and that was to insulate the team from Jimmy's inability to stay healthy.
DeleteAnd on that they appear to have failed miserably!
Kyle failed to prepare Lance for this very scenario, despite knowing how undependable Jimmy is, and it's painful as heck to watch!
DeleteSo they should have given up on the season just to get him experience?
Delete"Kyle needs to go! "
DeleteOTOH, you could go over to Niners Nations -- that's where the trolls and idiots gather.
Again, if they thought they were a Super Bowl contender, they should have signed a veteran QB to back up Jimmy.
DeleteIf you are going to draft Lance, A PROJECT, then you are basically admitting that you are a year away from contending, and that's OK, because now you start developing Lance while carrying over Jimmy's cap hit to 2022.
The 49ers tried to have their cake and eat it too, and that's a ridiculous strategy, for obvious reasons!
They may beat this lousy Texans team, but they aren't getting out of the first round.
DeleteAnd Niners fans should prepare themselves for another developmental season in 2022, if Lance can even stay healthy ... knock on wood!
DeleteBTW Scooter, who's fault is it exactly if Lance isn't ready? Mine?
DeleteI told you Lovie Smith would have his defense ready.
DeleteAnd now reports are that Jimmy needs surgery, so this charade only looks more and more ridiculous!
Nobody's fault. Sometimes guys need time.
DeleteOof this is looking dire. Can't let Texans get more points before the half.
ReplyDeleteAdjustments must be made.
DeleteI don't understand why we are not running the ball. Mitchell is averaging 5.4 yards per carry and we are not running the ball.
ReplyDeleteRun the ball and the offense will be alright.
They've been running the ball. Drives have been stalling whether they are running or passing.
DeleteComments made generally after scanning box scores. Not many run yards, ergo --- they are not running the ball.
DeleteTexans, like many other teams, have a defensive game plan centered around stopping the Niners' run and then play zone on third downs trying to confuse the rookie to throw a pick or two.
Niners are trying the same thing...
Mills has thrown a couple dimes. Moves in the pocket well. Doesn't get rattled with his eyes downfield.
ReplyDeleteLance's struggles are expected. He'll see the field better in the second half.
ReplyDeleteOkay new half game is still in reach.
ReplyDeleteA little disappointed by the run blocking in the first half. Also Kittle will need to be more involved.
ReplyDeleteAaaaaaaiyook!!
ReplyDeleteIndecisive play by Lance on the 4th down. Oh well...
ReplyDelete4th and 1 and Lance ops for a pass play with little chance of success.
ReplyDeleteKittle was wide open for the first.
ReplyDeleteThat's the 49ers third TO of the game. Yes, two have been TO on downs, but amounts of the same thing. And the same thing happened against the Cardinals in Lance's first start. They MUST find a way to convert those.
ReplyDeletePoints are at a premium in this game. Have to take every opportunity to score even if that means field goals.
ReplyDeleteDefense is getting tired.
ReplyDeleteLucky call for the 49ers. Could have easily been called a fumble after the interception.
ReplyDeleteYup, Niners bailed out by the refs on that interception fumble. Harris is a knucklehead.
DeleteLucky call
ReplyDeleteFollowed by another lucky call on the PI. Take whatever the refs give us at this point.
ReplyDeleteYup, Niners have been at the short end of that stick on many occasions this season.
DeleteEvery ST play still has me holding my breath.
ReplyDeleteEvery pass play Lance makes has me holding my breath.
DeleteHa, Jimmy G gives one of his trademark smiles on hearing this....
DeleteJordan Willis off Wide 9, hmm...
ReplyDeleteLance has to extend for the first down there.
ReplyDeleteLack of situational awareness
DeleteNiners living a charmed life.
ReplyDeleteAmbry got bailed out big time there. Struggling at the catch point vs big, strong WRs I get... but Cooks? Sheesh.
ReplyDeleteI know that a hold was called, but A. Thomas needs to be able to knock that ball away. Shouldn't have been a catch from what I saw.
ReplyDeleteWe have rookies at key positions, QB, RB and CB...
ReplyDeleteTBH, I don't why teams don't all go max protect on every play and throw it up at Norman and Thomas.
ReplyDeleteDang, I think Culley just hear me :(
DeleteIt's the opposing offenses best play every week.
DeleteLady luck just blew the ball off target at the last moment :)
ReplyDeleteOkay...okay...okay...would you guys get another TD so my heart can relax a little. Geezzzz
ReplyDeleteTY
DeleteOf course, it's nice to get a TD. Maybe it's just me, but I guess I expect a QB to throw a nice tight spiral. Lance's throws are wobbly. Got the job done, but....
ReplyDeleteThat was nice.
ReplyDeleteFinally, the promised deep throw across the field for a TD :).
ReplyDeleteUntil this play, if I didn't know the team records, I'd think that the Texans was the team playing for a play-off berth.
Do not recall seeing a rookie QB play with this much poise under pressure as Mills is doing in the second half.
ReplyDeleteWhat a magical season this could have been, if Kyle had just believed in his ability to win with Lance.
ReplyDeleteLol! If Lance struggles its Kyle's fault for not getting him ready. When Lance does some good things it's Kyle's fault for not riding him to victory all season.
DeleteMaybe, just maybe, Lance needs time. And maybe, just maybe, the time on the sidelines has been good for him.
The 49ers would be among the Super Bowl favorite heading into the playoffs, plus an additional $25+M in cap space next year, if they had just played Lance starting week 1. Lance has more talent in his left pinky finger than Jimmy has in his entire body, and proved today that the moment isn't too big for him.
DeleteInstead, the 49ers may not even make the playoffs, and even if they do, they will be serious underdogs as they go on the road throughout the playoffs!
What a shame!
I'm not going to pretend that Lance was spectacular today, because he wasn't very good at all in the first half, but he'd be sooooo much further along in his development if he had been named the starter from week one.
DeleteNot starting Trey from week one will ultimately be the 49ers undoing this season, and it may even cause them another slow start in 2022. Unfortunately.
And let's face it .... the 49ers were fortunate to play one of the worst teams in the league today, at home. The defense really was the difference, but Trey brought about as much to the table in his 2nd start, as a healthy Jimmy likely would have, which begs the question ... what was this season all about?
DeleteI'd love to see Jimmy play next week. Wouldn't that be a hoot!
DeleteJimmy G to undergo surgery, if I heard right.
ReplyDeleteSo begins the Lance era.
At end of season. Will apparently see if he can play next week.
DeleteOk, thanks for the clarification.
DeletePanthers and Cowboys not helping the 49ers out.
ReplyDeleteBeat the Rams next week the Niners are in. It's in their hands and can't ask anything more than that after a 3-5 start.
ReplyDeleteExactly right.

ReplyDeleteNice win! Whether we make the playoffs or not, this is a winning season for Shanahan.
ReplyDeleteDeebo was great as usual...even saw him lining up WRs for a couple of plays. :)
Trey Lance will be fine...missed a few open WRs, but nice 2nd Half. The kid's gonna be alright.
