OK, now let's play some football!
ReplyDeleteThis two week gap makes no sense to me.
DeleteDevontae Harris is another one I didn't see coming. Some big surprises for sure. The WR core is extremely young and inexperienced and the Oline is ridiculously thin but if they can maintain relatively good health this is as good a roster as there is in the league.
ReplyDeleteYou've got lots of company regarding Harris, myself included.
DeleteHarris was definitely a surprise. I had forgotten they had even claimed him a few weeks back. But brings a veteran backup option that has started in the past (albeit not often, and only due to injuries).
DeleteImportantly, he is a good STs gunner.
I actually wouldn't be surprised if he is active over Thomas to start the year.
Harris seems like a nod to Hightower....
DeleteMaybe an appeaser after cutting all his return men 😂
DeleteHurst will go straight to IR, and someone will be added. Curious to see what position, and whether it will be someone they just released or a pick up from another roster.
ReplyDeletePunt returner?
DeleteI think it would be OL....seems very thin? Just 8 O Linemen. And Banks is already recuperating. Maybe they will get Jake Brendal or Colton Mckivitz back.
DeleteMcKivitz had to be pretty bad for the team to choose Compton over him.
DeleteThat's the thing that boggles my mind - Tom Compton was preferred over McKivitz and Brendel? Man, the guys they cut must really not have impressed.
DeleteBut yes Mugeek, my guess is they will look to add an OL.
This does not speak well of their evaluation of O-lineman considering that John Lynch said they wanted to draft him in the 4th round. Lets Hope Banks can buck that trend but it's looking like he was overdrafted as well.
DeleteBetween Urban Meyer (who made Lawrence share precious snaps with the anointed one for no reason, and got next to nothing back as a result of keeping him so long and trading him late in the day, and brought Tebow in, and just made a stupid statement admitting vaccination status played a role in team cuts), and Trent Baalke being the GM, is there a worse run team in the NFL? I feel for Trevor Lawrence.
ReplyDeleteLawrence may or may not be good enough to overcome those two handicaps.
DeleteVery few young QBs are able to look good in spite of the deficiencies of their coaches and FO.
DeleteMakes one appreciate Andrew Luck more for what he was able to achieve despite the disastrous trifecta of Irsay, Grigson and Pagano.
DeleteFor sure. Luck is a case of a great talent wasted. Letting him get destroyed behind awful OLs and bad coaching was borderline negligent.
DeleteMy guess is the 49ers PR will actually start the year on the PS and be active on game days, before being added to the 53 man roster after a couple of weeks.
ReplyDeleteBasically, Hurd has a couple of weeks to prove he can stay healthy and contribute, and if so, Jennings may be waived and stashed on PS if he clears waivers.
Did you see that the Jets released Ronald Blair? Bit of a surprise.
ReplyDeleteWho would have thought that sack of Wilson in 2019 would effectively end his career?
DeleteYeah, that was rough... I thought he was better than Solly prior to that.

When I was not watching every QB snap this past pre-season, I was watching with fascination the design and fabrication of this 12-headed monster:
