#49ers have canceled today's OTA practice, and added 2 depth pieces to the injury party. It would have been 8th of 9 (NFL max is 10) before next week's mandatory minicamp.
This comes in wake of yesterday's injuries (plus earlier ones in OTAs). Instead will do a team-building activity (presumably a no-risk one)
If this isn't the wake up call Kyle obviously needs, then he's never going to learn, IMO.
ReplyDeleteYou can't win games in June, Kyle, so why are you pushing your players in 7 on 7's and 11 on 11's?
And FYI guys, I have no doubt from everything I know about the way Kyle runs his practices, from what I've seen and people I've talked to, he's pushing too hard, too soon!
Both of these injuries are costly, even if they aren't first string players.
ReplyDeleteSkule was expected to take the next step in his development, and lock down the swing tackle position. The 49ers have invested in this kid, and now he's done .... in June. Tell me again, how this team is getting better with OTA's?
And Moore is potentially even a bigger loss. 809 snaps in defense last year, and he's been a key special teamer!
Thankfully, these injuries aren't enough to doom an otherwise promising season, but if they keep it up, we're going to be looking at a repeat of 2019, and I for one am not interested in watching that again this season.
Oops, of course I mean a repeat of 2020! I'll take a repeat of 2019 any day, minus the heartbreak at the end, of course.
DeleteThe signing of Jefferson makes more sense now.
ReplyDeleteNot good losing two depth pieces for the season in June.
If that's the extent of our serious injuries for the year, I'll take it!
DeleteI don’t want to be a guy that solely puts injuries on the 49ers physical training staff.
ReplyDeleteThere could be many variables involved with the number of injuries that the team has experienced.
Overworked during practices.
Practice Field conditions.
Players possibly nonchalantly stretching before practicing.
Players not seriously working out in the off-season. And some players just suffer weird injuries like Jeff Wilson by getting up from his chair.
There have even been a few people who have blamed the injuries by calling it the Candlestick curse. Personally, I don’t adhere to that line of thought.
I’m not sure if anyone can come up with an absolute reason for the trend in injuries, but if have they answer I’m sure that the 49ers will take your call 📞
Maybe some of them pressured there body to much in combination of altering there body.
