She Don't Lie

Chris Foerster had hit rock bottom after spending 25 years coaching the likes of, Randall McDaniel, Laremy Tunsil, Jonathan Ogden, Joe Staley and Trent Williams. That's an impressive list but it's not what got him on the front page of the Miami Herald. A dark secret had been revealed when a disgruntled hooker exposed Chris with a video of him snorting cocaine. The following day he would resign from his coaching job with the Dolphins, and left with ridicule as his only companion.

Jump forward 2 and a half years filled with rehab, therapy, and the good Lord, he gets an opportunity to rebuild his career and reputation as a consultant to the 49ers. Having worked for the team 2 times prior, it would turn out that the 3rd time was the charm. He continued with his 12 step programs, and demonstrated to the organization his sincerity and earned their trust.

The reward came this year when, Saleh got his opportunity as the new Head Coach of the Jets and took the 49ers offensive line coach, Benton with him. The 49ers announced, Chris as their new offensive line coach for the 2021 season. He'll work alongside another recovering addict, in newly appointed offensive coordinator, McDaniel. It's a credit to, Kyle Shanahan who was able to see the Foerster through the trees of a life that had gotten out of control, and needed an off ramp to redemption.

Will the offensive line perform better under, Foerster? Dunno, but I do believe, Benton wasn't a great developer of talent, whereas Chris just might be. What do y'all think?

  1. I think "and left with ridicule as his only companion" will go down in sports journalism history as one of the most classic lines ever. Good work, as usual.

Raz, Chris Berman ain't got nothing on you, bro!
Great work on formulating a visual to go with your content.

Do you think that with Forester on board the 49ers may have a slight edge in re-signing T.Williams?

    3. Thanks, AES. I do think the relationship, Williams has with, Foerster will positively affect his decision. As for how much, it's hard to say.

  2. I posted this on the prior post but it feels more appropriate here.

In regards to Williams, I heard an interesting suggestion. Basically stating that because of the quality OT's and lack of high end EDGE's, SF should let Williams walk and draft Slater or Darrishaw, bring in a quality C like Mack, and go hard after and Edge in Free Agency.

That said, I would draft a Center regardless of if we sign Mack... I am big on Meyers as a Mid round pick.

As to Forrester, I think he is a pretty good coach that is able to connect with his players. That said I also hope that he is able to develop talent to a higher degree.

    1. Yeah, I have been thinking that could be the approach they take. Imo it very much depends on what they are thinking at QB.

  3. Looks like Moseley is signed for two years.

    1. Nice to see them prioritizing E-Man over Akhello. On first look, the contract looks expensive, but will wait to see what Paraag has worked in. Anyway, one less Free agent CB that the Jets can poach.

    2. This one seemed inevitable. The contract is probably fine imo - I imagine they will have structured it so they aren't paying much more than they would have needed to pay him in 2021 under a 2nd round tender. But get him under contract for two years.

    1. Blair can head to NY, while, Brunskill gets another year to prove he's a starter.

    2. Brunksill is very versatile, nice asset to have

    3. Must admit I hadn't realised Blair was still under contract! Given the knee issues this isn't too surprising.

At worst, it's a great feel good story. At best, it's giving
the man his life back and a chance to regain his dignity!
NOW LETS GET MR. CHRIS FOERSTER THE TALENT TO DO HIS JOB!

  6. Great stuff razor. Foerster is a very good OL coach so I think they will be just fine with Benton leaving. Hopefully he has learned from his past.

    1. Thanks, Scooter. I'd imagine, Foerster's input on offensive line prospects in the draft carries the same weight, Kocurek does with the defensive line prospects.
