  1. That sounds good. I'll go a bit more extreme here.
Cowings makes nice yardage on punt and ko returns.
Height gets a sack. Thompson makes a sack. Lenoir Int as Washington tries to attack him after Green good game last week.
Black gets his 1st NFL TD. And Kirk has 3 reception in his first game as a 49er.

  2. I'd prefer to have McCaffrey carry a smaller workload on these "easier" games (relatively speaking).
On the trade front, I hear Juice is stumping on social media for Buckner to be back. However, I don't think Buck is the tackle that Niners need now to stop the likes of Kenneth Walker.

    1. IMHO, trading for Buckner is a luxury, not a need. TB's NT, Vita Vea, should be the 9ers #1 trade target. TB has already paid his $21.7 Mil signing bonus, leaving the 9ers to pay his $1.3 Mil 2026 Salary and ~$1 Mil roster bonus. The question is, are the 9ers willing to take on his 2027, ~$23 Mil salary plus ~$1 Mil roster bonus?

    49ers, Steelers -- 55
    Cowboys -- 51

  4. I should have warned everyone ahead of time. I have stayed away from picking the 9ers on my parlays and in my pool and they have covered 4 out of 5 games. I broke down and picked them in my pool and on a 4 team parlay. My parlay is still alive going into tonight's game. Lets see if the OldCoach jinx is still alive

    1. San Fran has the best red zone offense in the NFL. 49ers scored 14 TDs on 16 RZ trips. Washington has the worst red zone defense in the NFL. Commanders have given up 15 TDs on 18 RZ trips.

  7. Things rarely go according to plan on a standalone national game...I think we are very thin at receiver today, the Commanders will be coaching for their jobs and after the emotional high of a road divisional rival, this game has all the markings of a classic trap game.

We will scrape through in a tough fought win. Niners 31-28. If I'm wrong and we win a blowout, would be ecstatic, but wouldn't be surprised if we lose too!

    1. Does that mean they can re-sign him at a later date this year, without needing to activate him off IR?

  9. The keys to the 9ers beating Washington :The D-Line must stop the run and maintain lane discipline. * Keep Washington QB, Jayden Daniels in the pocket.and make him beat you with his arm, not his legs! He showed he's dangerous when he can escape the pocket, by scoring 2 long rushing TD's last week
    * Washington starting RB, Jacory Croskey-Merritt has a groin injury and has been placed on IR. RB Rachaad White is expected to be the starting RB, along with RB Austin Ekeler
    * BP should attack Washington's poor pass defense. It's giving up 255 Yds/Game and ranked 29th (Bottom 4 in the NFL)
    * Washington's Rush Defense is rank 9th in the NFL. To establish the run, the 9ers should attack DT Javon Kinlaw! He has a history of being a liability as a run defender, often struggling with leverage and gap discipline against zone-blocking schemes. Kinlaw is entering the game banged up with an ankle injury, and Washington's primary depth piece behind him, Charles Omenihu, has been ruled out.
    * Running directly at Kinlaw's side of the formation, using elite OT TW
is the 49ers' highest-percentage path to establishing a dominant ground game.
If the 9ers can 1) keep Washington QB, Jayden Daniels, in the picket and out of the end zone
    2) Establish a run game using TW on Kinlaw
    3) BP attacks Washington's DB's
The 9ers should dominate Washington, 20 to 40.
