49ers Hold Off Commanders 23-17

The 49ers offense came out rolling putting up 300 yards and a 20-point lead in the first half, only to come out after halftime to put up a measly 72 yards in the second leaving the defense out to dry. The final two minutes were more stressful than necessary but in the end the defense stepped up to get the win. Romello Height had a great game. It was an ugly win but 6-0 is mighty pretty! On to Atlanta.

*Mike Evans' Achilles is sore with tendonitis, which is no different from what he's dealt with all week, but he will miss a little bit of time, per Kyle Shanahan. Hopefully he gets the next 3 weeks to rest. Possible PRP shot during the bye.

  1. Why in the hell are they not playing Prysock? Something has to change with Pineiro. Not just his PATs but his KOs are terribly inconsistent. They need to trade a 7th round pick for Jennings tomorrow. If he can produce like he did the past 2 years he can replace Evans next week, be their #2 option until Deebo returns and be a great #3 until Robinson and Stribling come back. All for the cost of what might end up being the last pick of the draft. I really want to see this D with Bosa, Greenlaw and Sigle on the field at the same time. Grades to follow.

  2. Great game by Height. 1 sack called back by a bogus penalty. .5 sack to end the game and 4 quarterback hits.

    1. Yeah, they really need a good WR 1 on the field. Consider how many times Aiyuk extended drives. Hopefully Stribling will become a mainstay.

  4. I've said this dating back to preseason. This may be the best draft for Lynch and Shanahan during their tenure. Halton, Duggar, Black, and Height have already established their significance on the team. Height and Halton grow with each game and Duggar is a study force. Black always looks like he's a always a step away from breaking the big run. Again, they came up big tonight.

    1. The 2024 through 2026 drafts are all looking pretty good, with lots of guys being big contributors this year so far.

2024 gave us Green, Puni and Mustapha (plus Pearsall, who has been good when available).

2025 gave us Mykel, Stout, Sigle and Colby (plus Collins and West, who jury is still out on), as well as Valdez as a UDFA.

I said before the 2024 draft that the next three drafts will be pivotal to replenish the roster. Lynch and co look like they did well.
