This was the most hard hitting, physical game this season. Toughness and heart come to mind when describing the 49ers performance. Sloppy to be sure but the most entertaining 7 turnover game you'll ever witness. This was a coming out party for the 49ers young defensive unit, particularly Gracen Halton who made a legendary forced fumble and recovery for TD to end the half. He's the best iDL on the team, and there can be no doubt about it. The 49ers are in the NFC West's driver's seat and about to get Nick Bosa back on the field. I'm gonna ride shotgun and enjoy this win tonight!

Mykel Williams' Return
Mykel Williams in 13 pass rush snaps GTFO was 0.79 seconds (NFL Pro). That would be good for 3rd best in the NFL, with Travon Walker 1st at ...

Good morning everyone and welcome to day 3 of the NFL draft. Let's take a look at who the 49ers were able to add on day 2: Drake Jacks...

I saw him yesterday at his press conference. Shanny's ego was on hand. The so called "genius" that passed on Mahomes and Wats...

Purdy is amazing, Evans is amazing, the defense is amazing. Very physical game, loved it. I believe Halton had a sack, forced a fumble, recovered a fumble and scored a touchdown, nice day young man.
ReplyDeleteThe last TD drive that Purdy orchestrated was MVP level play.
DeleteYes, it was!
DeleteThis is looking like a SB team with each passing game.
I didn’t see Mykel Williams out there much. Probably smart to ease him back in a bit but did anyone pay much attention to him? I’d be curious to see everyone’s thoughts on how he played. Valdez had a nice sack too. I came away pretty impressed with the D line today. The pressure seemed pretty constant. And that’s without Bosa too!
ReplyDeleteI saw William's force Darnold to step into a sack. He was a force multiplier for sure. This defense will be elite once Bosa returns.
DeleteYes they will! I’ll be curious if they’ll be buyers before the trade deadline. I was hoping for a Defensive tackle but Halton
ReplyDeleteHas been a nice surprise.
Might need to purchase a WR with Deebo out. I don't know what to expect with Kirk.
DeleteMykel Williams was in on that third-down play that ended in Renardo Green's interception at the 18-yard line too.
Delete49ers grades
ReplyDeleteO line run blocking A Pass blocking D. Colby looked terrible
TE Kittle playing with the flu deserves an A. His run blocking was excellent
WRs Evans by himself was an A+ Deebo was a C+ Brandin Cooks B+ Watkins/Cowing don't belong on the field.
RBs CMC A Black A James B+ on kick returns
QB Purdy first 3 quaters D- 4th quarter A. If Purdy played well in the first 3 quarters the 49ers win by 21 points.
STs I think something is wrong with Pineiro C- They need to replace Cowing tomorrow Overall C
D line A Halton, Valdez, White were excellent Height, OO and Williams were better than solid.
LBs Warner A Duggars A Greenlaw A until he loses his composure and almost cost them the game
DBs no need to mention names top to bottom A+
Coaches Shanahan C+ I think I screamed at the TV at least 10 times to run the Fing ball
Morris A+
Now all they have to do is get healthy
Bosa, Stribling, Robinson, Deebo, Juice and Sam O
and make two trades one major trade for a D lineman and get Jennings back
I actually think Kyle kinda made Brocks job harder. There was very little quick game in the first half and he was calling pass plays when SF had a yard to go when they were running the ball well. I was thinking against this team you just need to keep moving the sticks until they feel the need to start jumping them... at the very least have more underneath concepts. On a number of plays the pressure was there and no recievers were looking at the qb... that is rough on any qb.
DeleteI agree. In the first 3 quarters I don't think KS did BP any favors. If he would have run the ball 30 times in the first 3 quarters BP could have killed Seattle with play action.. I believe that if the 49ers had run the ball 35 to 38 times they would have won by 21.
DeleteSorry Coach,
DeleteI view this on a different level. As far as winning by 21 points, I don't throw any shade on Shanahan for that. Seattle is not only the reigning SB Champ, but came into the game having the best defense in football. Unlike So-Fi where the 49ers fans take over the stadium. Seattle has a feverish fan base and I hardly saw any 49ers fans. Seattle also had a two game win streak against the 49ers coming into this game which had to give them confidence.
This was a great win for the 49ers that went beyond the score, imho.
Purdy goes 7 for 8 on a must have IT TD drive against the best defense in the NFL on the road in the most hostile environment imaginable. MVP frontrunner!
ReplyDeleteHaven't watched the game yet and am sure I will thoroughly enjoy it. But the thing that stands out to me from the box score is that drive. Doing it when it matters, against the best D in the NFL.
DeleteWonder how the talking heads will try and move the goalposts this week?
Great victory. Purdy’s poise is remarkable. Did anyone watch the clip of Cowherd calling Brock possibly the best NFL qb ever based on the metrics? Big turnaround by that talking head.
ReplyDeleteRe one aspect of the game: It appeared to me that Farrell took Juice’s place instead of Willis. Anyone interested in commenting about that?
Savalas,
DeleteI think Nick Wright (another Purdy Hater) said he will put Brock on Mahomes mountain if Purdy won. Heck, Colin Cowherd is now comparing Arch Manning to BP saying he is also inconsistent like BP was in college, but needs a good playcaller to be successful like KS. So yeah National media finally turning around.
Regarding Willis, KS is loyal to the core. Seniority and Contract will always trump a low draft pick like Willis.
Willis will get his opportunity, but from what I have seen of Farrell, his game has vastly improved this season. So he deserves the TE2/ Move TE role.
Other than Gracen Halton, two other rookies who seem to be improving each week are Jaden Dugger and Romello Height. Height didn’t show up on the stat sheet but you can see his burst and potential. On the 4th and 10 play Height blasted past the left tackle winning with speed and hand usage. I thought he was going to close it out with a sack but he slipped as he tried to round the corner. I’ve watched that play a few times in slow motion now and you can tell his get off is elite. Hopefully he can put it all together.
ReplyDeleteWhen I watch Height, he reminds so much of Sigle last year. Sigle was always at the right place, but didn't make any plays. He just didn't seem to have that something extra.
DeleteBut that changed this season. Sigle was a whole different player.
So give Height time.... I'm just glad he is showing improvement every game. With Bosa or even with these guys just playing together, we will be a dominant defense by the end of season.
Hopefully Colby's performance was a one shot deal. He was pretty bad yesterday
ReplyDeleteWhat about the OT's?
DeleteRenardo Green in coverage against the Seahawks:
ReplyDelete• 37 coverage snaps
• 5 targets
• 5 yards allowed
• 2 interceptions
• 1 forced incompletion
• 2 pass breakups
• 8.3 passer rating when targeted 🤯
• 92.6 coverage grade
Trent Williams against the Seahawks
ReplyDelete• 34 pass-block opportunities
• 0 pressures allowed
• 0 sacks allowed
• 0 quarterback hits allowed
• 100.0 pass-block efficiency
Trent stonewalled every one of them that lined up in front of him! yesterday
The 49ers are 3-0 vs the Broncos, Seahawks and Rams this season. They are the 1st team since the 1981 Broncos with 3 wins thru 5 games vs the previous season's Conf Champ teams.
ReplyDeleteThat Seattle team can make anyone look bad. I amongst others in here did not understand why we were not running the ball. This was not one of KS best called games.
ReplyDeleteIf Niners ever get too full strength, look out NFL, they might be unstoppable .
They beat the best defense in the league on their own turf.
Delete49ers notched 23 pressures and — rate of 51.4% in Seattle:
ReplyDeleteKeion White: 5
Gracen Halton: 3
Osa Odighizuwa: 3
Jaden Dugger: 2
Romello Height: 2
Khalid Kareem: 2
Mykel Williams: 1
Sebastian Valdez: 1
Naquan Jones: 1
Ogbo Okoronkwo: 1
Gracon, Height, Duggar, Valdez, Mykel, and when Siegle returns, means that the 49ers have set themselves very well for the future on defense.
ReplyDeleteI believe that the 2027 draft will shift more on offense.
It was tough to see so many defensive line players go down with injuries but it resulted in many young guys getting a lot of snaps which plays huge for the future.
