Cardinals played 0% Man to Man coverage against the Chargers. Should we expect more of the same week 3 against the 49ers?

After Shanahan's game plan against the Rams and in game play calling, I think it's safe to assume he's suffered no long-term brain damage from the accident. A slight concern that was in the back of my mind but one I'm glad has now been alleviated.
ReplyDeleteMy only real concern now is, how the players body clocks adjust back to west coast time.
ReplyDeleteAccording to sleep and circadian rhythm researchers, six days is marginally sufficient but not completely ideal for the 9er players to fully adjust their body clocks back to West Coast time after their season opener in Australia.
While a complete physical recalibration should take about seven days,
the 9er coaches and players, can regulate light exposure, hydration, and strategic napping, six days gives them enough of a baseline to perform adequately.
Juice says he's already adjusted.
Delete49ers' Kyle Shanahan on post-Australia jet lag:
Delete"We’re totally good now. Speaking for myself I felt like crap all weekend. I was good by Monday. Some guys felt fine right away, some went through the same stuff. We’re all good now."
👍 good news
DeleteDe'Zhaun Stribling underwent surgery on his ankle today; Kyle Shanahan feels "good he'll be back this season"; timeline is about 10 weeks.
ReplyDeleteProbably for the best. Felt like one that was only going to linger otherwise.
DeleteIt's good they were able to ascertain that surgery was the right move as opposed to Pearsall's injury where they were constrained to giving rehab a chance.
DeleteRazor
DeleteSpeaking of Pearsall's injury. What, if anything, have you heard on how he's recovering?
Haven't heard a word. Risky surgery though for a guy whose game is predicated on agility.
Delete49ers TE Jake Tonges will be out for the season after undergoing surgery for a torn MCL.
ReplyDeleteThe dreaded injury bug is still targeting the 49ers. Pearsall, Collins, Stribling, and Tonges. And they are only one week into the season. It's time for the replacement players to deliver with their opportunities.
ReplyDeleteI'm especially interested to see how Willis responds to this opportunity, as I believe he'll never get a better one. He looked improved in the limited action during preseason. He's been in development for a couple years so he should know the offense like the back of his hand.
DeleteKittle looked a little rusty last Thursday and will likely take a few games to get up to snuff. Willis is a willing blocker which adds to his play. I would love to see Shanahan create opportunities for Juice as a receiver in games. Farrell had a good TC and should be counted on to contribute as well.
ReplyDeleteEven with the injuries, the 49ers have set themselves very nicely with able backup players this season.
Luckily even with the loss of 2 WR's, Juice is still low man on the receiving totem pole. I reckon we'll see the obligatory wheel route or something, but for the most part I want to see him continue with the banana and dash motion to confuse and obliterate defenses in the run game.
DeleteYup.
DeleteMy hopes for this week Black 18 carries, CMC 12 carries and James (if he is activated) 5 carries
ReplyDeleteOnly way James would be activated is if Black got injured.
DeleteOldCoach / Razor / anyone
DeleteWho do you see picking up more reps after the De'Zhaun Stribling's injury?
IMO. it's Demarcus Robinson. He caught 2 passes for 50 yards and a TD after Stribling was hurt. .
Purdy really likes Robinson. Year 2 should allow him to be more productive this season.
DeleteBased on what we saw week 1, looks like Shanahan really intends to use a WR committee this year - spreading reps around. With Stribling out, I think we'll see Robinson move up one spot in the pecking order, so he'll probably get the biggest bump in reps, but I suspect it will continue to be a committee approach.
DeleteDVOA’s #1 team in the NFL after Week 1:
