Hopefully, Willis can hold the job down for years, or until someone better comes along. As Steven A Smith says, "it's fluid."

ReplyDeleteYea, that won't be Willis, but I expect that aspect of his game will improve, especially next to Williams. The strength of Willis' game right now is his ability to get to his landmarks and peel off in the run game.

ReplyDeleteI have little doubt that Kaelon Black will be CMC' backup. Also, I won't count out Guerendo. James is similar in size to KB, but Black looks to have more strength. Guerendo gives them the change in pace with his size.

DeleteHey this Piniero guy is pretty good. Collins and West looked terrible tonight. Halton better get healthy pretty soon and he needs to be able to hold his own pretty damn fast. Thompson took a step back tonight. Hopefully Valdez can become a solid rotational piece.
ReplyDeleteRaiders rookie RB Mike Washington showed some very good running chops. I see him cutting into Jenty's snap's this year. He's going to embarrass defenses in 2026 and beyond. He was a draft favorite of mine, but Black and James look pretty good for the 49ers going forward.

ReplyDeleteLeft guard Carver Willis earned a 44.2 offensive grade, the lowest among 49ers offensive linemen. He also posted a team-low 42.4 run-blocking grade. His 61.5 pass-blocking grade included two pressures and two hurries allowed. -- Bonilla
There's things they're being coached to do that can seem "wrong". Foerster has said it himself, in breaking down how they do these things, "It's different than a lot of others, not saying we're right and they're wrong, it's just how we do it." Because everything is approached from the same philosophical approach - make it all look the same.
DeleteHopefully, I'm wrong. But, I don't believe that we will see Bosa play until either the home games vs Miami or the following week against Arizona. Even if he's ready to have physical practice in the next couple of weeks leading up to Australia, I have doubts that he will be ready. Mykel could fall into that same category of not playing until week 3-4. If that's the case, I have no problem with them getting the extra time to completely mend.
ReplyDeleteI bet they did a PRP injection when the flare-up happened and his absence from the side field, mixed with what Shanahan just said about his timetable, fits that.
DeleteThat sounds about right, Razor. We won't see these guys until they can acquit themselves in physical team practice, which has yet to happen. I'd feel much better if they are not rushed to play. And the same goes for Kittle.
ReplyDeleteI'm looking at a few proposed unofficial 53R predictions. There are 7-9 rookies that make the 53R. If this becomes the reality, this might be the best draft class in the Lynch/Shanahan era. And also helps keep the SB window open for the next 5 years 🤞
ReplyDeleteWillis has to start at LG imo. He's the best option that is currently fit to practice. Let him play the first 4-5 games then re-evaluate whether to keep going with him or if they need a change.

Still 12 days until real football but at least a couple of college games of interest today. Hawaii at Stanford i'm anxious to see the Andrew Luck era begin. Next Sunday Wisc. at N.D.

ReplyDeleteI am hoping for a top five rating on defense. I think this defense is going to surprise many people. If they stop the run...that is.
DeleteI agree, UC. The offense has been above average as their top 10 rating shows. But, the run defense has been very generous over the last couple of years. Getting Bosa and Mykel back at some point early on, will definitely put the D in the top10. After the Rams, the 49ers play Miami and Arizona. I hope these two are ready to go by game 4.

ReplyDeleteDuggar. I wonder if they could get anything for Tatum. I'd take a 7th round pick next year for him. I don't see them keeping 3 MLBs. I wonder if they could and would trade Watkins too? Both players seem like they're on the bubble.
