Dynamic Balance

Seems Brock prefers shotgun and feels like we operate out of it much more than we used to. Could be it affects how the running game hasn't been the same too.

  1. I love Purdy. I'll love him much more when he leads the 49ers to a Superbowl victory. Speaking for myself, that is the only step left for him to accomplish.

From what Cris Foerster said, apparently Connor Colby has been demoted, and Robert Jones has replaced him?
Both Colby and Jones have had the same problem, their consistency in Pass protection.
so I question if either Colby or Jones is the answer? Or is the L-OG not on the team yet? What's your opinion?

    2. I think if Carver Willis hadn't got concussed, he'd be in the mix. The reason Burford isn't here is because he couldn't demonstrate the consistency. Too early to know how it ends up but my money is still on Willis at some point this year.

    3. Willis will be the eventual starter at some point this season. He just needs some refining. Once he takes his place as a starter he will hold it down for years.

  3. I think OldCoach is a Notre Dame fan too. They're loaded on defense. CB Leonard Moore and S Tae Johnson are the headliners, but LB Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa (if healthy) and EDGE Boubacar Traore are intriguing players. S Adon Shuler is also an underrated piece in the secondary. Could be 2-3 first rounders in next years draft!

    1. One of the biggest misjustices in college football history happened last year with N.D. being over looked for the College Football Playoffs. If they had gotten in it very well could have been an all Indiana championship game. Go Irish!!!

    2. Agree that the selection rules are unjust, but Miami FL, who reached the Championship game, proved they were the better team by beating the Irish 27-24 on Aug 31, 2025. Puzzled why anyone would think an 11th ranked team should get the nod over the 10th ranked.

    3. N.D. deserved to be in the playoffs over Alabama. ND was ranked #10 in the final AP poll while Bama was #11. It was SEC bias plain and simple. ND lost their first 2 games to eventual playoff participants by a total of 4 points. By the end of the year ND was playing as well if not better than any of the teams that made the playoffs. imho

  4. Isn't Laken Tomlinson a free agent? If they are having such a problem with LG bring him back.

    1. When Brett Toth gets out of the concussion protocol they should use him at LG. He was a good to very good guard with the Eagles last year.

    2. Sounds good to me. Whatever it takes the Niners have to solve it.

      Laken Tomlinson 2025 Scouting Report:
      * Began the year starting 7 games for Houston but struggled significantly with pressure rates, leading to a benching and subsequent release in December 2025. * PFF Grades: Finished with a sub-60 overall grade (roughly 56.1), ranking in the lower tier of qualifying interior offensive linemen.

That's too bad, I remember him doing well with his stint here.

I thought of Tomlinson also, until looking at his Scouting Report

  5. Will Echoles | IDL | Ole Miss | 6-3, 309

Well rounded, disruptive DT. Active hands, explosive power, and finishing ability. Just turned 20 years old this week.

    1. I agree, both DT's Echoles and Stone would be excellent draft picks. But both will be Juniors and likely top 15 draft picks the 9ers would have to trade up for. I don't think that will happen,
do you? D-Line likely 2nd Rd?

IMO, the 9ers will draft an OT with their 1st Rd draft pick. My first choice would be Trevor Goosby, Texas. What's yours?

    2. Goosby likely goes top 10 and no I don't expect them to trade up for Echoles.

Trevor Lauck is one I'll keep an eye on. Jordan Seaton LSU is another. Niki Prongos Stanford is likely one they'll be quite familiar with and likely a top 60 pick which would be their sweet spot for the position.

The 49ers quietly signed Kyle Shanahan to a contract extension in the offseason, per Tom Pelissero. I've said he should be the HC here...
