Good morning everyone and welcome to day 3 of the NFL draft. Let's take a look at who the 49ers were able to add on day 2: Drake Jacks...

Like all sports commentary, I don't agree with everything. It's a matter of choice.
ReplyDeleteMaybe he should put in a little research if for no other reason than to protect his credibility.
DeletePerhaps. The back and forth with Jiy're Brown was street smack. But Whitner's original take Brown's play was not far from the truth.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of Brown. Can anyone guarantee that he's still the starter this season?
Not talking about Brown.
DeleteThey've got talent in the safety room with the addition of Davis. Let the cream rise to the top.
TC, can't come soon enough.
ReplyDelete"The friction between Whitner and the 49ers centers on a few specific issues:
ReplyDelete1. The Ji'Ayir Brown Spat Whitner heavily criticized the on-field play of 49ers safety Ji'Ayir Brown. In response, Brown personally called Whitner to express his frustration and ask him to stop. Whitner took the details of the private call public, blasting Brown as "delusional" for thinking he played at a Pro Bowl level, drawing the ire of some fans who believed he broke the player-to-player trust barrier.
2. Doubts About Brock Purdy Whitner caused a stir among the 49er faithful by casting doubt on quarterback Brock Purdy's elite-QB status. He claimed Purdy's success largely comes from the scheme, pre-practice "gimmick plays," and an elite supporting cast, stating Purdy struggles when forced to drop back and win games on his own.
3. Calling Out Cornerback Deommodore LenoirDuring a crucial playoff stretch, Whitner publicly blasted cornerback Deommodore Lenoir for "making a business decision" by shying away from a critical tackle. Lenoir fired back at Whitner on social media, challenging him to a confrontation if he felt strongly about it.
4. Parting Ways With NBC Sports Whitner served as a regular analyst on NBC Sports Bay Area’s 49ers pregame and postgame coverage but was let go by the network in 2025, which further distanced him from the organization's inner circles.Whitner has made it clear that as a former Pro Bowler, he will not apologize for analyzing the team objectively. However, his direct attacks on the current secondary and offensive scheme have firmly placed him at odds with the current roster."
I found this on social media. Sorry, for not providing the site.
I may not agree with everything Whitner said, but he was speaking as an analyst. His somewhat harsh style may not be suitable for many. But as I said earlier, he's not far from the truth, especially regarding Ji'Ayre Brown.
That's what I was saying... SF just utilize play action nearly as much as they did with Jimmy G. Once league leaders in this category they now are in the bottom 3rd of the league in terms usage of it.
ReplyDeleteBrock just doesn't like it as much.
