Outmanned But Not Outgunned

San Francisco stuns Philadelphia in a thrilling upset 23-19. Brock Purdy lost George Kittle early to an Achilles tear and threw 2 interceptions, but he made the critical plays to win the game in the end. It wasn't the team's best game by any means, nor was it a great coaching job however, Saleh's defense performed admirably and managed to end the game when they had to.

If you told me Purdy would throw 2 interceptions' while at the same time losing Kittle, I would have said no chance in hell we win this game. I don't know how they did it and I don't care. All I know is we get an opportunity to get revenge on Seattle at their house next week. Can't ask for more than that. Congratulations on the win and let's get back to work to be our best in the next round after we celebrate knocking out the defending super bowl champions tonight. 🍻

  1. Unbelievable. The two games I gave them no chance of winning (the other was the first Ram game) and they prove me wrong both times. I wonder if Bosa and Williams will be healthy for camp. Warner will be without a doubt. Greenlaw tore his achilles 4 weeks later than Kittle and he played with 2 games left in the season (if I remember correctly) So hopefully that means Kittle could be back by game 11 next year. If thats true I don't see them drafting a TE high or signing a major TE FA. I think they can get by with Tonges and Farrell for a little more than half of a season. Finally I don't care what anyone says or what their PFF grades are. The 49ers need to sign or draft at least 1 A level O lineman and even better 2. They can't run against good Ds and it may be the difference this week. I say it over and over all I ask of my team is entertain me every week and this team has done more than that. GO 9ERS!!!

    1. Brock Purdy’s moved up to #3 all time in the #49ers’ franchise record books in playoff passing yards (1,674). Chasing Montana and Young now, after passing Kaepernick today.

  2. Probably the most impressive thing in today's victory for me is that we had 1 penalty for 15 yards and that was questionable at best.

For this game we had DRob come up big.....For the Seattle game, I hope we incorporate BRob into the game plan.

It's gonna be a physical battle for every yard in a loud hellacious atmosphere. Purdy and KS have to be less greedy and if we keep turnovers down, we have a chance.

  3. I wonder if Shanny will develop an alternative scheme for Seattle.....maybe some 21 w BRob and CMC sharing the backfield- I think they need to run more screens w/out the downfield threat- hopefully, Pearsall plays tho. Fun game. Seattle season ticket holders were given threatening letters about re-selling tix last week.

  4. What a tremendous win against all odds! Huge credit to the coaching staff and players for putting together the ultimate team performance.

A few things really stood out to me:

The tackling was the best it’s been in weeks — aggressive and disciplined.

The starting linebackers should stay as they are moving forward. Winters continues to struggle in coverage, tends to overrun plays, and is only an average tackler at best.

Siegle caught my attention again when he came in, the defense looked faster and more energized. He makes plays and should seriously get more snaps over Brown or Mustapha, who just don’t bring the same speed or coverage ability.

    1. S Brown was questionable entering and exited the game- Sigle will start there- I had previously argued that he should be considered for Dime LB as he was a converted Corner

  6. With the wind, I knew Purdy was going to have some problems because he has a relatively weak arm and because his throws spend relatively more time in the air because of both the weaker arm and throwing with anticipation. Still, I was impressed by how he shook off those two interceptions to move the team down the field and ultimately for the win.

Kendricks had a great game and Wallow actually had the most tackles of any defender. Maybe we need to give this guy a chance as he played quite well today.

    1. 49ers produced the highest single-game offensive success rate against the Eagles since Vic Fangio became their DC.

  7. Props to Kendricks! Who would have thunk?

    1. Yep absolutely! Kendricks gave props to KJ Wright....so we probably have another potential Demeco waiting on the wings.

So if Saleh leaves Bradley or KJ Wright will be promoted. Feeling good about the bench.

    2. K J Wright has been being groomed for DC for the past few years and when he's ready I fully expect him to be named when the opportunity presents itself.

  8. Kyle Shanahan is now responsible for just over 37% of all 49ers road playoff wins in franchise history!

  9. Quite a win, but against that Seattle d Brock will need more open targets, especially with no Kittle and even if Ricky plays. Would it be presumptuous to suggest that Kyle use BRob as rb1 and CMC as receiver?

    1. George- I mentioned earlier that Shanny may nd to adjust and try and develop some 21/31 packages to get BRob on the field more..... if Pearsall doesn't play, Seattle will probably bring Safeties up again- and probably even if he does play.

  10. The NFL just screwed us by scheduling the game Saturday night.🪛

    1. Interesting, but why would they do that? Our winning the SB would be a Cinderella story, so probably increase viewership.

    2. Short week against a rested team in the belly of the beast. Bring it on!💪

    3. Pretty bs when accounting for player safety as well- Rams n Bears should have been first game on Sat and 49ers v Seattle Sun to account for NFL's East Coast bias....... I think the short rest may help as they have the mojo going and Brock gets to forget the picks that much sooner.

  11. Did anyone catch the extra excitement in Brady's voice when the 49ers scored during the game? I believe that Brady still has a warm spot in his heart watching the team he grew up cheering win tonight. This was certainly a game that will immediately go into 49ers folklore.

  12. Brock Purdy was at his best targeting in-breaking routes against the Eagles, completing 12 of 17 for 208 yards, 2 TD & INT. As I pointed out prior to the game the Eagles were the best in the 10 years of NextGenStats at 51.9% completion rate on in-breaking routes.
